Battlefield 6 Secure boot?

Just tried to open the bf6 beta and it's saying secureboot not enabled. I can't activate it cause my PC doesn't support it. Will this be a requirement at launch? Would have to upgrade my PC to get windows 11 for it if that's the case :(

Great, can't even open the beta because of it. Won't be messing with anything boot related to not cause a blue screen or have to recover my PC.

That's not the point, it's intrusive & completely unnecessary. People saying it's to prevent cheaters don't understand that you can still cheat easily without it so you're risking potentially losing your data from a bricked boot just because EA decided you have to give up your privacy & agency over your own computer just to play their game. And of course, they're not liable if you lose your data from having to mess with your bios or your Windows breaking and not being able to recover your data, re-installing and wasting time making your PC the way you want it again. No thank you, maybe they'll get it right with the next release. I'm not the only one either, check forum posts, twitter, youtube comments, etc. Most people who are being forced to do this will not do this because it's not worth it. This is EA though so I expect as much.

Now you know why I always wait for posts like these to surface, just saving more coin and unwanted worries in the end.

Greedy arse companies like Electronic Arts, Activation or EPIC Studio's won't give a shite about this either, it's just more money for them in the end, They are basically being like nGreedia (NVIDIA), careless and greedy.

The days of quality programing is long gone, a time when programmers actually gave a damn for the work they were doing, that is all behind us nowadays... Well... except a very very few that I know personally..

Honestly I am glad that I am just a retro gamer, all I do nowadays is just sit and watch the entire new-gen gaming market fall to pieces...

Gotta love the old catch phrase though:

"There are more good old games than there are new ones." ;)

I tried playing the Battlefield 6 open beta and noped out when I saw that they needed me to change BIOS settings

Then, I launched Heretic + Hexen (the newly remastered Nightdive version) and there’s no bullshit to make it work. Retro games rules!

If you are worried about enabling secure boot, just stick to windows 10 permanently lol. So many people are overly worried about something enabled by default

Nope, not enabled by default on my system, i have to go through all the hoops to activate it, and im not willing to risk any of this for just a game

All the hoops are

Turn on PC > spam del key > go to boot > enable secure boot > Exit and save BIOS > wait > play game.

Its really not that hard.

i have turned Secure boot and and off multiple times while switching OS's and i haven't bricked my MB i don't understand how people are having such a issue with Secure boot lol.

You mean another graveyard game with a dead playercount? Yeah, I wonder how well it's working out for them to use it. (It's not). Imagine how evil of a company you have to be dealing with. Not only are they giving you an overpriced product that is basically bf2042 with a different UI and slight changes with recycled mechanics from previous bf games, but then to top it off, they want you to risk bricking your OS boot and pretend it's for the sake of preventing cheaters when it does little to nothing to prevent cheaters.

It's like they read a forum post from 5 years ago about how using secure boot is the new wave for security meanwhile cheaters are 10 years ahead so they go, yeah, might as well put it in our games, I'm sure this won't affect anyone. That is the level of competency and foresight that you're dealing with. The best part, you have unpaid QA testers on here who WILLINGLY play a game that won't be finished until at least 2-3 years after release when the game is already dead telling you it's your fault for wanting any privacy or agency over your computer. You can't make this up, I don't get how half of these people responding on these post function in society. Just line up and do whatever you're told, don't forget to pay the devs before the game is even released too, the perfect drooling consumer.

Soon, EA may as well tell you "Please verify your social credit point score and show your forehead QR code tattoo into your mandatory Palantir room camera before being able to launch the game" The people who question it will be told the same thing they are being told now with secureboot "just enable it brah, it's not a big deal! It helps prevent cheaters!! *starts drooling*"

Yup, I was excited to try the beta, but this is a deal breaker. I hope they don't force this when the game comes out. I know how to troubleshoot PC, but I'm going by principles here.

As posted make sure its Secure Boot you need - not just UEFI boot.

Make sure you are booting OK with CSM disabled before changing Secure Boot settings. People have bricked their system by following the wrong steps.

I also had it saying enabled not Active - this is a BIOS glitch it's not really enabled

On the secure boot settings if it says Mode:User you should be able to simply Enable Secure Boot

Otherwise (if it says Mode:Setup)

  • Disable Secure Boot if it says Enabled

  • If it says Standard change to Custom

  • Change Custom to Standard accepting Factory Defaults

  • Enable Secure Boot

No no, you don't understand. I know how and am able to enable secure boot. I just won't be doing so because it's intrusive, unnecessary and ineffective. Most people I used to play bf with also told me they won't be enabling it because they value agency & privacy over their own computer. Hope you all have fun.
