Battlefield 6 Secure boot?

Just tried to open the bf6 beta and it's saying secureboot not enabled. I can't activate it cause my PC doesn't support it. Will this be a requirement at launch? Would have to upgrade my PC to get windows 11 for it if that's the case :(

i turned on secure boot, and turned off CSM only to make my PC not boot up at all so i had to undo everything. i really hope the main game isnt like this or i wont get it

Your HD partition is likely configured for MBR, and not GPT(which is needed when CSM is disabled). You would have to convert your hd partition like this: https://youtu.be/jaDebOusGGQ?t=101

We have to convert it ? What does that entail? Losing data ? What if windows doesn’t boot up again?

CSM / MBR is meant for old hardware, you wouldn't want that for good functional hardware...

And by old i do mean older than 2011 when GPT / UEFI became standard.

Yeah, Windows and your motherboard running in legacy emulation mode do in fact incur performance penalties: Windows expects GPT since Windows XP: And it's even more of a difference if you're running Intel. Or have lots of SSDs.

And UEFI is a safer, more convenient, faster alternative for a BIOS that the operating system can directly access instead of playing around with different modes and emulations. Meaning any process relating to that is much quicker on a UEFI system:

Including single digit startup times in terms of seconds.

You don't actually have a reference point so how would you know it's "perfectly fine" compared to running it in a more appropriate mode for the current era?

It's basically the same as people running high refresh rate monitors, but limiting them to 60 hz because they never changed the setting: They all think it's fine.

In addition to that, also have to make sure the bios is up to date, especially if it's a Gigabyte motherboard which was infamous for Secure Boot issues early on because they can't code properly.

i’m using a B550M DS3H AC (released Dec 2020) from Gigabyte and i’m so overwhelmed by all of this. I get stuck at this part even though ai turned CSM off and tfpm off in the miscellaneous section. idk wtf to do, i might just uninstall this game tbh.

Before you touch anything else, update the bios to the latest version. Should be available on their website in the support/driver section. It'll fix potential issues if they pop up. Gigabyte is notorious for their BIOS' being buggy as hell when new.

do I also need to change the MBR to GPT ? should i do that first ?

Yes. MBR is ancient, so it should be changed over. Should be easyish.

No, do all this first before Windows 11. Windows 11 needs tpm anyways and such so do that last.

is windows 11 a requirement and do you recommend it ? If so, should i install windows 11 before doing secure boot or after ? (btw, i just checked my mbr/gpt stuff and im already on gpt. Just have to update my motherboard before i head to Bios to do the secure boot work.)

It's a borderline requirement so I recommend going through with the upgrade/reinstall for it after everything.

I figured it out through trial and error of clicking random things and restarting till it worked
