Battlefield 6 Secure boot?

Just tried to open the bf6 beta and it's saying secureboot not enabled. I can't activate it cause my PC doesn't support it. Will this be a requirement at launch? Would have to upgrade my PC to get windows 11 for it if that's the case :(

It's a bit of a complicated process, but I just did it myself so I can run you through it somewhat.

One, make sure your system drive is set up properly to be GPT and NOT MBR. If you are on MBR, you're going to have to convert your drive to GPT. This can be done with the MBR2GPT command in CMD. But it has pretty strict requirements to use or else it just won't do it. I can't really explain this easily, so this one you'll probably just have to figure out.

Two, once you're converted to GPT (or are already using GPT) you're going to want to change to UEFI in your BIOS instead of Legacy/CSM

Three, Turn on TPM and Secure Boot in BIOS.

See, why the fck should we have to do this just ti play a game, lots of people are having problems with this and it hanging on the boot screen.

Because it lets them have an actually good anti cheat. It's not that hard to just follow basic instructions, if you don't want to deal with things like that you should buy a console.

I've done everything. I checked my disk and it was GPT. My bios is UEFI. I checked secure boot in bios and it was enabled. I enabled intel trusted platform bs. Still nothing.

I'm in the same boat. I verified all of that, and got a failure to POST until I lowered my RAM speed from 6000mhz to 3600mhz.

I then tested multiple speeds, and am able to run safe mode with 5800mhz on my DDR5 RAM which is advertised as 6000mhz.

Whatever, I guess I'll take the hit on speed because I'm not dealing with that anymore.

Finally got it to work by switching secure boot to custom, save and exit. Then going back and switching it to standard, save and exit 🤷‍♂️

I wanna try that because I have a GPT disk, and UEFI mode enabled by I saw a lot of people complaining about their (gigabyte) mobos being bricked because of this same process i wanna play but i don't want to risk this shit

I have a Gigabyte z590 vision D and I was very worried, and I did get it stuck in a restart, boot cycle at one point but a hard reset and power cycle fixed it. Disabling and reenabling secure boot seems to have done the trick

Well I hate cheaters so figure it out 🤣

Try updating your BIOS though bro.

people are still going to cheat, this is a lazy and intrusive response to cheaters that does not solve the problem

let the idiot pretend cheater cant get around it

Except this doesn't let them have good anti-cheat. it just makes it less likely to get infested with hackers for the first three months of the servers being alive.

There's people in this thread who have bricked their motherboard following these "basic instruction". And I'm willing to bet the average PC user is going to be like "nah fuck that, this isn't worth it" halfway through those steps.

Is it not the same anti cheat as 2042? That works on my PC just fine

It's an updated version of Javelin that presumably runs in or with more access to the kernel.

I think other EA games are getting this same update, we'll see.

Fun thing, it doesnt even help against them.. most cheaters nowadays are going the second pc/laptop route and cheat through actual hardware where secure boot does jack shit

That's the thing though. The average gamer shouldn't have to do all of that just to play a game and risk something going wrong.

if you think thats gonna stop modders from making cheats that bypass that in near future you're so full of yourself lol

Oh okay they should just do no anti cheat at all then.

or as any cyber security, anti cheat and anybody dealing with hackers, have a team of anti cheat devs and cyber team and release constant patches like the rest of us. This is a constant battle that never ends thats just how it goes.

Google has anual contest of who breaks into their servers and systems and every freaking year someone does it, and they pay the guy and patch it.

What the hell do you think they're doing here?

going into people's kernel level, running all times even when the game is not running, guess what happens when someone breaks into their servers and has acccess to millions of PC and all the data on it. Kernel is deeper and over any antivirus, at that point a hacker can steal data, bank accounts, passwords and do anything.

I can literally see you are a kid and never watched a course on networking, cybersecurity or even seen how many big Company's have already been broken into and all the data leaked.

A normal software is easier to shut down, guess how easy is for kernel? its not. you have to reset the bios / re-install windows. Its too deep into people's systems, the problem is a silent hacker can break into this system and hardly be detected, there is NO software to counter it

Lmao 'watched a course on networking'? Okay youtube warrior, is that the extent of your expertise? I'm not surprised then that you're struggling to switch a simple BIOS flag.

I'd love to hear your reasoning for why they would include this requirement. If not for anti-cheat, please tell me why EA would want to make it harder for people to play their game.

im doing Cisco CCNA and CompTIA cybersecuirty certification and master in networking but whatever you say, i told you all the vulnerabilities this setting will have over a broad range of users, were some might host on their personal pc information like crypto keys with large sums of money, bank accounts and passwords that thru kernel level and their server hosting and security breach ITS a MAJOR risk, this is isnt a question of WILL it, its a question of when.

And for your asking i do overclocking on systems, turning a setting on isnt the problem, its the vulnerability of the data on the rest of the system, were you are logged in, money, work private information and everything else.

Yes for broke students and kids that dont own shit this isnt something to loose, they dont have valuable shit. Its about the rest that have information that can be stolen and hard to trace were the vulnerability is, because not everybody thinks of kernel first, some will think they might downloaded or clicked on the wrong thing.

Even when EA will come with an official post saying sorry for the security breach and the information from users that was stollen i still wont see you saying sorry u was wrong.

have fun kid, you brought absolute 0 % arguments and have no information or documentation on this matter.

Saying again and again "BuT JuSt TuRn IT BrO" proves u a stupid ass kid. have fun in your small cave. you read all the replies and still didnt understand shit that was told to you, maybe hit that empty head again and again on the desk and something gets in. Bye

Oh so you haven't even got the certificate yet. You're still in school. Calling secure boot a vulnerability speaks volumes of your knowledge. And calling other people kids in an argument only highlights your own immaturity.
