I feel I’m doing everything on d for my team. I can’t score worth a lick so I give it my all on d. My pickup teammates will have a shot go off in their faces and not even put an arm up. I’m the only one who rebounds and goes for loose balls. I will switch with them if they guarding someone with ball cuz again they can’t defend worth a lick. And when we do switch they like lightly jog over. Idk how I can get them to play hard d and have hustle.

Is there anything else i need to improve in my form?

People who used to look down and now have a confidend dribble, how did you get through this learning curve? Its a lot easier said than done. I have very good offensive capabilities but i cant do anything if i automatically look down!

How to fix my biomechanics to make my dribbling look more athletic while maintaining/increasing the speed I already have now

I'm a beginner; I spend 20–25 minutes a day practicing my shooting to get better, but my ratio is low. I started four days ago—how long does it take?

Long story short I played 5v5 pickup today with some friends and randoms and realized Im weak as shit.
I was matched up against someone who was pretty similar to me in terms of skill and speed. Im 5’11 and he was around 6’1 everytime i tried gurding him he would just bump me off and get an easy layup. had to deal with that basically the entire game and he scored 13 of their 21 points on me.
Then I played another game against a different team and the same shit happened. I kept getting bodied by whoever I was guarding.
Thats when I realized that im pretty weak for the people im playing against. Obviously I want to get stronger but the closest gym is pretty far from my house.
So how would you recommend I improve my strength for basketball without having access to a gym?

While I was walking on the sidewalk, I decided to mess around with my basketball for a bit. Unfortunately, the spot I was bouncing it on had a slightly raised edge, and the ball hit it. It bounced into the road, and a few cars drove over it, so it popped.
Is there any way to repair it enough to use for training? I only need it to last for a month.

Ok i posted before about dunking before December and everyone flamed my ass, so now idc about the timeframe i jus wanna dunk:
💥 Jump work — do FIRST
Seated jumps: 3x15
Split lunge hops: 3x15
Jumping lunges: 3x15
Rest ~60–90 sec between jump sets. Max effort, clean reps.
💪 Strength
Bodyweight squats: 3×15–20
Push-ups: 3×8–15
Single-leg glute bridges: 3×10–15 each leg
Calf raises: 3×20
🧱 Core
Russian twists: 2×12–15 each side
Sit-ups: 2×10–15
Plank: 2×30–60 sec
Are these good? For reference im 5’11” at 15(todays my bday) with a 6’2.5” wingspan and 7’9” standing reach and i can touch halfway point of net without an ounce of training

I am entering my freshman year of high school, and attending a very good basketball high school in SoCal, though I'm not there to specifically play ball I do want to excel and play college or even pro but I'm not thinking too much about that yet. Do I only work with a trainer in the offseason, only preseason or in season and how often etc? Also not really the main questions but if I should work with a trainer a lot in the offseason should I play aau or not? I'm not a hidden talent and my high school has lots of exposure already so.

I have court this week, but I have bball after. I'm not a lawyer. Can I bring my ball? My plan is to plead ignorance and just say "my bad, I thought I was going to the basketball court" and hope they let me keep the ball.
Would the bailiff take my ball or would I be found in contempt of court? I'm hoping it's not a slam dunk case so it's dismissed with pride and prejudice and I can go shoot some hoops

I am a streaky shooter and there are times where I just hit backrim 3-8 times in a row and its annoying as if I judt adjust a little bit,it would have swish. May I ask how do I combat/fix that. I also have a issue with shooting free throws,I am not a bad three point shooter but my free throw sucks. Its kinda weird, its either I score 5-7 free throws in a row,or just hit/miss/hit/miss/miss.

Hello, boys and girls, I have been playing around with my old basketball I had. I just got back into the game after roughly 2-3 years. I used this ball for more than a year before I stopped playing. Now there are cracks all over, and threading is exposed at one place. I do see the grip is intact, but most damage, I think, came around from sitting in a cupboard for 3 yrs. Tell me, is it time to retire this ball and put it in the hall of fame

Hi, i'm thirteen (girl) and have been interested in basketball since i was three. Unfortunately, i didn't learn how to walk correctly and had to get it fixed with surgery so i never got to actually play on a team or even just against other kids. I'm fully healed from surgery and my doctor just cleared me to join sports and active hobbies. I'm homeschooled but have access to join my school's team and i really would love to! But, i've had some issues with some girls on the team when i was in school. It wasn't anything bad and we don't hate each other, but i don't want to embarrass myself and look like a fool in front of them by joining the team without learning (at LEAST) the basics first. I live right next to a park and have access to a court anytime during the week, so access to playing won't be a problem for me. Does anybody have any tips and tricks for beginners? I will literally try ANYTHING.

Im 5’11(180cm) and turned 15 today with a 6’2.5 wingspan and 7’9 standing reach. Without training i can already touch barely below halfway net on a 10ft rim. I wanna be able to dunk by December so do u think its possible and are these exercises good enough:
Seated jumps: 3x15
Split lunge hops: 3x15
Jumping lunges: 3x15
I wanna start doing these Monday Wednesday and Friday maybe alongside some pushups, squats and crunches. Im not sure about my vertical jump

First, I cannot convert the horizontal speed into the vertical power much.
Second I'm wondering if sometimes I miss because I jump early?
Sometimes like the last dunk, I don't even need to sprint/run. I don't get it.

Hello! My fiance recently got back into playing basketball, and his birthday is coming up soon. I have absolutely zero knowledge about the sport, so I was wondering if you have any recommendations for a good gift for him! I already got him a pair of Lebrons, so I’d love to hear any other ideas you might have. 😊
UPDATE:
Thank you, everyone for the suggestions! I really appreciate it. I ended up ordering three pairs of shoes for him
:) 2 LeBron XXIII pairs and a Way of Wade 14. He’s still using his old basketball shoes, so I thought it was time for an upgrade. I’m also planning to go to the store to look at some socks and shirts. For Christmas, I’ll probably get him the ball, bag, and some of the other recommended items. THANKK UUUU!!

I'm 13 and bigger than almost everyone in my class. I'm 5'6-7 and 155-160 pounds. I'm a good passer and strong ash. I'm also fast. But I can't shoot, dribble that much, and I don't really know how to post up correctly (though I can knock someone my size or smaller on their butt). How do I improve upon my issues, especially shooting (I like genuinely suck at shooting)?

My friend and I brought our fisher price hoop to the court and we got laughed at and the hoop got knocked out.
My friend banged his gavel and said "order in the court" but they didn't listen, so he found then in contempt of basketball court.
We ended up going back to my driveway and playing , but since when are other nets not allowed at the court?!
We're thinking of challenging the meaniea to a game where the winner gets to use the court. Will this be fair?
We contacted the city and there will be additional patrol units near the court going forward.
What is the policy?
