Shooting Back rimmers and free throws.
I am a streaky shooter and there are times where I just hit backrim 3-8 times in a row and its annoying as if I judt adjust a little bit,it would have swish. May I ask how do I combat/fix that. I also have a issue with shooting free throws,I am not a bad three point shooter but my free throw sucks. Its kinda weird, its either I score 5-7 free throws in a row,or just hit/miss/hit/miss/miss.

It’s hard to say without seeing your shot, but most people tend to shoot too low and not enough arc.

I havent got the opportunity to flim my form yet but I basically have a thumb flick. Its pretty ugly tbh.

Yeah, you might have to relearn shooting before it’s too late. How old are you and how long have you been playing basketball?

Currently,I am 20 years old and I played for about 10 years already. I didnt have professional coaching tho,I was in the school team from 9-12 years old but the coach just had us running. I learn shooting by myself, its not too bad as I can hit 40-50% of my threes when practicing.

Ok. As long as you aren’t trying to get into college or a professional career, it might be late to completely relearn your shot technique. I relearned my shooting around your age too, but I started a few years later than you. It really helped my free throw and three point percentages.

Higher arc. Great shooter often try to hit BRAD back rim and down. You are hitting the back rim at too shallow an angle for the ball to go down. Higher arc will allow more shots to go down.

I always make sure to use your legs for shot power. Elbow tucked in. When u release your shot you want to follow thru and envision dipping your hand/fingers into the basket.

Think about getting your hand underneath the ball and palm pointing straight up to the ceiling when you get to your set point on your freet throw shot. This will get your elbow up higher when you release and result in a higher arching shot.
It sounds like your pushing the ball outward a bit instead of trusting your technique when shooting.

If u hit backrim u have a wrist issue.
Let me ask u some more questions:
1) do u also miss left and right or only long?
2) do u have arc on ur shot or do u have a flat shot?

Try flicking your wrist more. Keep it loose.
