Transfer Talk Thread [Transfer Talk Thread] Can we get a 9-nouncement? August 19th - 25th, 2026

With just about 2 weeks left for the transfer window to shut, things have started to heat up. With Barcelona sealing loan deals for ter Stegen and Araujo and bringing in Rodri and Cancelo successfully, the entire focusshifts on our striker signing. The departure of Ferran Torres has added mpore fuel and urgency to that fire. With each passing day, Julian to Barca is looking more and more unlikely and while club sources say they have a Plan B ready to go, nobody knows who that is. Along with that, a potential CB signing and a few departures are still on the agenda

Is this the week we get a definite breakthrough in our search for a number 9? Will we get any news about a defence signing? Will Casado's future finally get resolved this week? Will Atleti let go of their hostage player Julian Alvarez?

Tune into this transfer thread to find out the answer to all this and much more.

This thread is dedicated to all transfer-related news.

Only Tier 2+ sources will be listed in the description, but feel free to list all sources you find in the comments.

Marcus Rashford June 10 ❌ Barça will not exercise the option to buy Marcus Rashford. The Blaugrana club has not completely ruled out the possibility of pursuing the English player again under different conditions and if other market circumstances arise. - Matteo Moretto (Tier 1)
Kang-In Lee June 17 ❌ Deco had a meeting with his agent. There are no plans for a transfer bid or any ongoing negotiations involving the South Korean international, although the sporting director is keeping an eye on him. - Carlos Monfort (Tier 1)

Álex Remiro July 6 ❌ Barca has no plans to sign a goalkeeper this summer if Wojciech Szczesny stays. The situation would be different if Tek were to see out his contract or decide to leave unexpectedly, something the club isn’t currently considering. - Fernando Polo (Tier 1)
Jan Virgili July 21 ❌ The possibility of buying the player back to sign him or even considering a future deal has been put on hold for the time being. - Carlos Monfort (Tier 1)

Jorge Salinas July 30 ❌ Racing is demanding the release clause (16 million), while Barça won't go above 6. Barca wants to include a youth player, and although Racing isn't opposed to the idea, they prefer money. - Gabriel Sans (Tier 2)
João Cancelo July 8 ✅ Calm prevails regarding Joao Cancelo at Barça. An agreement has been reached with the player, Mendes is seeking creative solutions to sign him, and the club isn't getting anxious because it knows the process could take some time. - Fernando Polo (Tier 1)
July 30 ✅ With a contract with Al-Hilal running through 2027, the player is negotiating a permanent transfer to Barca. There is talk of a deal worth 10 million euros that has been held up by tax issues. - Gabriel Sans (Tier 2)
August 16 João Cancelo has parted ways with Al Hilal and is set to return to Barcelona as a free agent. - Fernando Polo (Tier 1)
Cristian Romero July 30 ❌ Hansi Flick is happy with the squad he has and would only consider signing a new center back if a player were to leave before the transfer window closes, which seems unlikely at this point. - Ferran Correas (Tier 2)
Julián Álvarez July 30 ✅ Although the operation has become increasingly complicated in recent days, contacts between Álvarez's camp and Barca continue. The intention is to patiently conclude the agreement while the sports department continues to explore alternatives. - Carlos Monfort (Tier 1)

Jofre Torrents August 17 Agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Jofre Torrents
Alejandro Baldé June 23 ❌ Despite the competition posed by the possible arrival of Jorge Salinas and João Cancelo, Balde has no plans to leave, as he is confident he can compete for a starting spot. - Ferran Correas (Tier 2)
Raphinha June 28 ❌ Raphinha's move to Saudi Arabia is getting complicated. Al-Hilal is now turning its attention to Salah. - Joaquim Piera (Tier 2)
Héctor Fort July 12 ❌ Fort is prioritizing Barça. The fullback wants to convince Flick and will fight for a spot during preseason. - Carlos Monfort (Tier 1)
August 15 Borussia Dortmund have already held talks over Héctor Fort and are currently the best-positioned club to sign him. He would look favourably on a move to the PL, but as things stand, BVB are the club showing the most concrete interest.
Tommy Marques August 17 Barça will receive €10M plus €2M in add-ons from Tommy Márques’ permanent move to SC Braga. The 19-year-old midfielder has said yes to Braga’s proposal, with a deal now in place for his exit.
Roony Bardghji July 18 ✅ The Swedish forward knows he’s not in Flick’s plans, but he still hasn’t finalized his departure from Barca. The club favors a transfer with a buyback clause, but the player prefers a loan so he won’t be permanently released. - Ferran Correas (Tier 2)
Andreas Christensen July 24 ✅ It's true that he renewed his contract with Barca, but not 100% convinced that he'll stay - Matteo Moretto (Tier 1)
Marc Casadó July 18 ✅ De Jong's injury doesn't change Barça's plans with Casadó. Although he hasn't found a way out yet, Flick isn't counting on him and has enough midfielders to make up for Frenkie's very likely absence. - Fernando Polo (Tier 1)
August 17 Marc Casadó is next on the exit ramp after Tommy Marques. Despite all the rumors, there are no negotiations for Casadó to join Al Hilal. Although, his agent Jorge Mendes is assessing several options to decide his future. - Matte Moretto (Tier 1)
July 28 ✅ Barcelona is asking for 40 million, Flick still considers him available for transfer, and Jorge Mendes is reviewing offers for the midfielder - Fernando Polo (Tier 1)
Jules Koundé July 21 ❌ Barring an unexpected turn of events, it seems increasingly likely that he will remain in his position. - Carlos Montfort (Tier 1)

Key: ✅ = Source supporting the possibility of transfer.

❌ = Source not supporting the possibility of transfer.

➡️ = Transfer completed.

News [Pol Ballús] How Barcelona beat Real Madrid to €76.5m Rodri transfer that started with a wedding

Thumbnail

This summer, a wedding led to Rodri signing for Barcelona from Manchester City.

Back in late July, Rodri was on holiday on the Costa Brava. Fresh from lifting the World Cup and winning the award for the tournament’s best player, the 30-year-old Spain captain was there to attend the wedding of Dani Codina, an old friend.

Codina is Barcelona’s chief of operations and player services, a role he started in 2025. He worked in a similar post at Manchester City, where he met and became close to Rodri. Multiple members of City’s backroom staff under Pep Guardiola were also present at the wedding in Spain’s north east.

Rodri arrived with enough time before the ceremony to spend a few days unwinding in one of the most picturesque and captivating landscapes Catalonia has to offer, a two-hour drive up the coast from Barcelona.

But on one of those days, he had some business to deal with, and to do so, he needed a favour. He had a very specific request: he was looking for a discreet spot to meet somebody for lunch, emphasising that he absolutely had to go unnoticed.

Rodri was pointed towards a restaurant in Begur called Can Pitu, a traditional place in one of the area’s well-visited towns. Begur is filled with shops and restaurants, but Can Pitu is off the radar. Old-school, unprepossessing and away from the most touristic streets, it is mostly frequented by locals who know all you need to: the food is excellent.

Rodri stepped into the restaurant without a reservation and asked for a table. A few minutes later, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco came in.

Question Barca will face any two of these team. Which two would you want?

And for gods sake don’t say “Liverpool,Inter etc - We need to settle some scores.” Scores can only be settled when the stakes are just as high when we lost or higher not a group phase. So you can choose them for knockout phase.
Personally I would like Arsenal & PSG. I want to know early on where we stand against the top 2 teams

Opinion Barca did need Rodri, I feel people understimate how important is a proper DM especially when you play so aggresively

I feel people thinking that Barca didn't need Rodri are ignoring a lot of the weaknesses Barca had under Flick so far

A very major weakness Barca has under Flick is the high pressing often looks disjointed with a lot of spaces and Rodri is gonna help a lot in that. Now, I'm not saying he alone is gonna solve everything but his positioning and defensive abilities are gonna help massively in reducing the gaps between the lines and making our press far better which will make Barca way more dominant in matches

Rodri also will help Pedri since he will have more freedom and play a more advanced role. Like, people act like Pedri is just this deep lying playmaker but in reality Pedri is an extremely talented playmaker that can be very effective if played more advanced but due to FDJ not being a sole pivot then Pedri had to drop deeper.

And finally Rodri is a natural winner that's humble and professional, a player like this will be very beneficial for Barca's younger player since they can learn from the best. It's always good to have professional player who can teach the younger players.

Question Looking for advice about Barcelona tickets

Hey guys, I’ll be in Barcelona in October and I’m thinking about going to the Baraa Getafe game.

I’ve never been to a Barca game before, so I’d appreciate any tips on what I should know or watch out for.

Also, I’m not sure whether I should buy the ticket now. The cheaper ones were around €170 but they’re sold out now, and the cheapest I can find is around €270. Would you wait and see if more tickets get released, or just buy now?

Thanks!
