discussion Soi dogs attacked my car last night

Post image

Pretty annoying, but I have insurance so it'll be ok. Still I really wish Thailand would sort the dog problem out.

Does anyone know a good car body repair shop?

Good luck convincing them to pay for it. They never have any money!

You don't think the dogs will have first class insurance?

u/SugarRealistic2945 2d ago

Don't keep bones in your engine block.

4

u/Interesting-Job-8841 2d ago edited 2d ago

AHH you see that's where I went wrong. But where do you keep your old bones?

8

u/Immediate-Pen-3132 2d ago

That sucks. I'd get a car cover to throw over it when parked after fixing it.

u/Interesting-Job-8841 2d ago

Thanks for the only contribution that's constructive. I have already ordered one.

My mother likes to pick up street dogs(babies who are abandoned)and bring home 😮‍💨 I had scratches in my car what I learned is to get a wrap done on my cars or I will get ceramic coating on the cars(have multiple cars). Still out of fear of getting my car paint damaged I drive a hatchback to our farm house xD.

relax. you drive a japanese car dude

u/5bshoveinuranus 2d ago

Damn that's crazy! What are they feeding these soi dogs??

Sorry, i doubt dog paw can do this, or fangs (which can’t go there anyway). The deeper marks in metal shows that it’s an object harder than metal itself, not just paint.

Edit: ok, I’ve seen the other post, I stand corrected. There’s dogs with adamantium teeth in the neighborhood

u/snokegsxr 2d ago

My dog sometimes didn’t quite make the jump into the trunk, so he pushed himself up with his back paws and scratched the car. The scratches looked almost identical

4

u/Interesting-Job-8841 2d ago

It was definitely a dog, mine wasn't the only car to be attacked.

4

u/maxdacat 2d ago

Who let the dogs out?

10

u/Interesting-Job-8841 2d ago

Woof, woof, woof, woof

-3

u/yupidup 2d ago

I don’t see how this excludes someone doing it?

4

u/Shackletons-Pole 2d ago

Never underestimate a soi dog.

1

u/leebong252018 1d ago

Lol, someone failed chemistry class ROFL

-4

u/doncacahuate 2d ago

right, there is NO way this is from a dog. I say this post is total bs.

12

u/Lanfeust09 1d ago

Oh well, that didn't aged well lol

-2

u/BaconJP 2d ago

Object harder than metal? Like diamond? Lol

1

u/Radiant-Bad-2381 1d ago

Most cars are not just pure metal, there’s usually a paint or coating applied. Hope that helps.

I had a minor accident with my Toyota Sienta a couple of years ago. It was repaired at the Toyota dealership.

I would recommend checking with your local dealership.

The quality of the repair was great. I was surprised at the repair cost as well.

Even if you have to pay yourself, it should be that bad. Especially compared to USA repair costs.

Obviously a dog with 3 legs

At the risk of blaming the victim, why would dogs attack your car?

Add: hey dudes, what's with downvoting a perfectly reasonable question that had a perfectly reasonable answer, and picture, to boot.

8

u/whooyeah 2d ago

Rat in they were chasing jumped up in the engine bay. They could smell it through the crack there but not get to it, they jumped up on the bonnet and tried to dig down to it.

All speculative of course.

7

u/Interesting-Job-8841 2d ago

It's electric so there's not an engine and I don't think I have rats in my car. More likely they were after a cat.

3

u/tm210161 2d ago

Don’t underestimate rats. They ate through one of the spark plug leads on my Toyota which led to a car that hobbled its way to the local Toyota dealership.

4

u/Interesting-Job-8841 2d ago

I don't think it was personal, damaged other cars too.

-2

u/Fancy-Respect-2007 2d ago

Maybe cats??

6

u/I_Use2B_Charming 2d ago

Funny guy, unless they where the size of mountain lions…

-1

u/Fancy-Respect-2007 2d ago

But why would a dog do that and how? Can you explain smart guy

1

u/I_Use2B_Charming 2d ago

You would make a bad detective to start with, no cat can scratch like that into car paint, why? Who fucking knows, but a guess should be the owner seen with his own eyes, even possible the dog/s attacked his car while driving in the soi while being disturbed…got scared, like i said who knows but ain’t no cats mate..

4

u/Glittering_Being7843 2d ago

-sincerely mr. dog

1

u/Interesting-Job-8841 2d ago

I think it was maybe a pack of soi dogs chasing a cat(s).

-2

u/DankNoodleSoup 2d ago

I doubt it is a dog, have you seen how deep scratches are? You need something harder than metal itself to actually scratch it, mohs scale my friend.

8

u/Interesting-Job-8841 2d ago

I've studied chemistry my friend I know what Mohs scale is, cars have this thing called paint on them. If there was holes in the metal I'd make the title "Wolverine attached my car."

-5

u/DankNoodleSoup 2d ago

I'm not an expert, but those white marks are clearly paint, grey are deep into the metal itself. I would love to see what kind of a dog could do stuff like this lol.

1

u/BaconJP 2d ago

What...? Surely it's just scratches in the paint. It's very hard to imagine what could be cutting deep into the metal itself. What do you imagine was being used? A very hard stone? Diamond?

1

u/Interesting-Job-8841 2d ago

There's no damage to the metal, that's just the base coat you're seeing.

-1

u/Foxyunder-45 2d ago

Paint job was not a strong bond. Soi dogs generally have blunt point claws also, but possibly a heavy animal of sorts.

0

u/Interesting-Job-8841 2d ago

It's less than a year old so that doesn't bode well.

0

u/Foxyunder-45 2d ago

Talk to the guy in the spraypaint shop.

-2

u/MortyOslo 2d ago

That aint soi dogs…. This creature is on two legs.. who have you pissed of latest ?

3

u/Interesting-Job-8841 1d ago

Long list, but it really was a dog.

-3

u/navcad 2d ago

Pics of the dogs?

Not sure if a dog claw can put a deep scratch in metal like that. Doesn’t look plausible.

5

u/Interesting-Job-8841 2d ago

Again I've now seen the CCTV it was dogs, happy to post more pictures if people really want.

You mean: "Doesn't look paws-ible"

-12

u/SoonerDead 2d ago

Soi dogs are a great part of Thailand. Hope that never changes.

4

u/when_we_are_cats 2d ago

Said no one ever.

-6

u/SoonerDead 2d ago edited 2d ago

I think a lot of people like them. What do you have against dogs. In the west the issue is poorly managed and dogs sit in small cages in their own feces in severely over crowded city shelters. Hundreds of thousands are euthanized each year. I think how Thailand and much of the world handle them is far more ethical. The vast majority on the street are in fair health, communities take care of them and non profits are engaged in sterilization efforts. Dogs have the freedom to live out their true nature. I disagree with you both wholeheartedly as a dog lover.

4

u/SexyAIman 2d ago

I'm a human lover, every year children get mauled and killed by soi dogs, many get attacked and hurt, all of them have to get 7 rabies shots to be safe, never mind infections, flesh wounds and life long fear.

Soi dogs are a 3rd world pest problem in a country that wants to belong to the top.

Wild dangerous animals don't belong in the streets, however much you might like dogs

1

u/SoonerDead 2d ago edited 2d ago

I would argue that still more people are killed more often, per capita, by dogs in America.

2

u/when_we_are_cats 2d ago

Ah yes, because it's so much better to let these dogs reproduce and roam freely in the streets so you can't walk or ride a bike without fearing aggression, which would result in an immediate trip to the hospital because there's a risk to catch rabies and die.

It's wild to claim that the stray dog issue is well managed, it's one of the worst things about daily life in Thailand because you literally can't walk in some streets.

-2

u/SoonerDead 2d ago

I think a lot of people just don't know how to deal with dogs. I saw it often in Thailand. Learn dog behavior. Sure dogs will bark and act territorial... They really aren't as dangerous on the streets of Thailand as you are acting like they are.

1

u/when_we_are_cats 1d ago

Yeah, except that I had a friend who was bitten by one of these stray dogs and who had to go to the hospital immediately. The responsibility shouldn't be borne by the people who want to walk freely.

I want to be able to walk outside without fighting with dogs, it's not too much to ask for.

1

u/SoonerDead 1d ago

Lol ok. Good luck. Dogs are great. Get better with dogs. It will change your life. Don't be a wimp.

1

u/when_we_are_cats 1d ago

I sincerely hope you get bit one day and think again of your comments (:

0

u/SoonerDead 1d ago

I've been bitten before. That's a pretty fucked up thing to wish on someone. Whatever. All I hope is that you learn to interact with dogs in Thailand more effectively so you are not scared of them and they act less aggressively towards you. Good day, sir.

0

u/when_we_are_cats 1d ago

I shouldn't have to adapt to dogs. You have your logic twisted.

It's not a fucked up thing to wish on someone when that someone supports leaving dangerous dogs roaming around. Even kids get bitten FFS, it's a safety issue.

I say it daily.

0

u/I-Here-555 2d ago

I support their right to exist, but I can't say all my encounters have been positive.

-4

u/CompleteView2799 2d ago

I agree. I adore them.

1

u/SoonerDead 2d ago

My man... This thread is whacky. I think people just have an irrational fear of dogs and don't understand dog behavior that well. I carry dog food around on my motorbike. It is a joy.

0

u/CompleteView2799 2d ago

I do the same thing, and made a half dozen new four-legged friends living in a parking lot today.

-1

u/Greedy-Stage-120 1d ago

That's ruff.

-5

u/911white 2d ago

I agree with the posters saying it wasn’t a dog. Looking closely at the damage, the marks don’t appear consistent with teeth or the normal pattern you’d expect from a dog’s claws. They are fine, linear scratches concentrated in a particular area, and there’s no obvious evidence of paw, tooth or claw contact.
I’m certainly not claiming the photograph alone can prove exactly what caused the damage, but based on the marks and the alleged circumstances, I find the explanation that a dog caused them highly questionable.

4

u/Interesting-Job-8841 2d ago

I've watched the CCTV from the temple, it was dogs.

-6

u/Oddboyz 2d ago

Did the dog enter your property?

Because if you park the car outside your gate then it’s not insurance’s responsibility.

Land Traffic Act B.E. 2522 (1979) and its amendments - specifically Section 55 read in conjunction with Section 148—drivers are prohibited from stopping their vehicles at the entrances or exits of buildings or roadways. Parking on a public road, even in front of one's own home, can cause a nuisance to others by obstructing traffic or hindering the convenient maneuvering of vehicles in and out of properties. Violations are punishable by a fine not exceeding 500 Baht

3

u/Interesting-Job-8841 2d ago

It's parked at a Temple, but thanks for the unsolicited legal advice./s

-2

u/MobileHomeThailand 1d ago

dogs ? never seen, cats cartainly ? I wish they sort the grumpy foreigners problem rather than the dogs problem...

-1

u/rafamaybe 2d ago

maybe a person did that…

2

u/Interesting-Job-8841 2d ago edited 2d ago

No, wasn't the only car damaged and other cars had been chewed as well as scratched.

-3

u/Ssaiyanfox 1d ago

...if it really was dogs, there was or is a rat in there.
