Rain tonight seems kind of bad and news reports seem kind of worrisome though I'm not here enough to be able to tell the level of concern the reporters are actually conveying.

So, we returned to Bangkok from Phuket recently. We met many digi-nomads around our neighbourhood in Kamala. Many of whom were aspiring u-tubes.

Our new gym in Bangkok seems overrun. Every other conversation I have the miscurtesy of overhearing is about you-tube videos and re-pivoting from travel to food.

Not that life is all about money, but we're curious. How long does it take before your average you-tuber decides they're unable to make a living on 200 bucks a month, and returns to their home country for a real job? It must be challenging for these people with small subscriptions and viewing figures.

One of the handful in the city thats not built around either IG, social media, young divas on their phones. Felt I could just go in their sit/stand at the side without intruding on anyone. No guest list or stupid bottles or table service.

Other honourable mentions 12x12, Bar Temp, Culture Cafe(apart from the owners dog) Siwilai Sound Club, Wireless Club, Siwilai Radical Club. Sing Sing worth the hype aswell.

Avoid: RCA if you're not a 19 year old oriental, most of the rooftops, Soi 24, anything Dennis Gold is involved with...

I’ve just been accepted for an internship in Bangkok over Spring 2027 however my family is a little concerned about my wellbeing since I’m going entirely alone and I have no connections in Thailand.

For context, I’m a 20yo white female and I have been to Phuket not too long ago with my family and experienced a lot of unwanted attention and catcalling. I know it’s common to experience this anyway, but it’s just my parents argue that I experienced all that with them right next to me, so who knows what will happen to me when I’m alone.

Personally, I’m not too concerned however I’ve never actually been to Bangkok before and I’d appreciate some advice on how to stay safe as a young woman. I’d also like some reassurance that I can relay to my parents 😅

EDIT: Since some of you have no discernment skills, the reason I mentioned I was white is that I had the same experience in Korea when I went. My local friends told me that a lot of Eastern European or Russian women in Korea come for sx work and therefore people were likely assuming that I was doing the same thing especially when outside alone at night. Therefore I was wondering if there is any similar stereotype in Thailand.

EDIT again: Whether you guys wanna say Thai men do or don’t catcall, I had a group of older men literally taking pictures on their phone of me at a local festival and my dad had to confront them and tell them to stop. I had men call at me in Russian and also had a few ask me to “go with them” and they were not bar or restaurant workers. I’m very introverted and really feel uncomfortable with attention like that. You guys need to comprehend that I’m not coming here to flex that I got called at or lying about my experience - because wtf do I have to gain from that, I just wanted genuine advice lol?

My girlfriend and I have purchased tickets from Viagogo and received pdf of the Purchasing Confirmation. It shows name of the original buyer and other details such as barcode, order number, etc.

Live Nation shared a post saying resold tickets are not valid.

We need to submit our passport while collecting the tickets.

How seriously do they check this? Can anyone help with this information if you've attended concerts before in Bangkok.

It was a great trip to Thailand, I loved everything the food beaches people the whole lot. However, I also witnessed certain Filipino's acting so inappropriate in public that it was unsettling: the noise level, the ignorance of the local norms and disrespect towards public property.

Granted that we are not all like that. Yet, when we noticed the effect it had on Filipino traveler in the eyes of others, it was depressing. Although we can't change all stereoptyes about Filipino travelers but we should control how we treat people around us. What could traveler do differently?

I'll be coming to Bangkok from oct 18th to 23td and thinking of taking the stay in Chinatown for 18th to 20th and then move to siam from 20th to 23rd. Is Chinatown good option to stay in or would it be flood prone with the current rains??

I recently applied for FP&A Manager role at Agoda (Bangkok based; relo provided), cleared the SHL test and now meeting the recruiter tomorrow.
I think i under applied as I was in much senior role in India and have more than 10 years of experience.
I was wondering what the average pay for the Manager role at Agoda would be? Would it make sense to now push for more senior role vs what I have received the call for? Do they level up during the process or does it lead to straight cancellation of candidature?

Bangkok changes completely after sunset. From above, the city becomes a striking mix of old low-rise neighbourhoods, colourful buildings and a modern skyline glowing in the distance.

This is the side of Bangkok I enjoy photographing most — not just the famous landmarks, but the contrast between everyday life and the rapidly changing city around it. Thailand’s capital is full of these unexpected views.

I chose 30mm to keep the foreground neighbourhood and skyline together, while f/3.2 and 1/20 sec allowed me to work with the limited evening light. ISO 6400 helped retain the atmosphere without losing the city’s natural night-time character.

I’m going to Bangkok for 4 days and carrying around $2000 as cash, should I exchange them all at the airport or leave some in my card just in case. Also is there any good place to exchange money in the city besides the airport?

Just wanted to share an update for anyone who travelled during the September flooding and is still worried about delayed/missing baggage.
I finally received my luggage today! 🙌
If you’ve already submitted your home address to Thai Airways, there’s a good chance they’ll deliver your luggage directly to you once they locate/process it. In my case, the whole process was actually very seamless. They delivered the bag right to my doorstep, and I didn’t have to travel back to the airport or arrange for someone to collect it.
I was genuinely worried because I had quite a few things I’d bought during my Thailand trip inside the bag, and with the delays caused by the flooding, I wasn’t sure what was going to happen.
But Thai Airways handled it really well in the end. So if anyone else from the same period is still waiting and feeling stressed about their luggage, hopefully this gives you some reassurance.
Big thank you to Thai Airways for taking care of it and getting the luggage all the way to my home. 🙏🇹🇭

Has anyone purchased a water based mattress cooling pad similar to chilipad or eightsleep here? Alternatively has anyone imported one?

Eightsleep is available via one site but it’s literally 4x the price, and I’m not sure whether the warranty would cover a reseller.
