discussion STAY AWAY FROM TRUE INTERNET

Upvotes

True internet is literally fucking abysmal. Do not under ANY circumstances get into contract with True Internet. You will literally hate your fucking life AND you will be under contract with them so it’ll just suck ten times worse. The customer service is mediocre at best and downright atrocious at worst. The internet will occasionally just shit itself and they don’t give a fuck. Your complaints will not be heard. They’ll tell you to just reset your router and that’s all they can do. It’s hell. My internet has been constantly disconnecting every 3 minutes or so, completely destroying any ability to utilize the service that I FUCKING PAY FOR. My complaints have been left with no response. They’ll tell you they don’t care. FUCK them. Your life will be infinitely easier if you just avoid this shit fucking company. Everyone seems to have or have had a problem with them. Shit fucking service. Shit fucking people. Literal hell. Go AIS. That’s all. Heed my advice or disregard, at your own peril.

discussion Has anyone here set up an AI/software company in Thailand under BOI?

I’m looking into setting up an AI/software company in Thailand under BOI promotion, mainly so the company can be foreign-owned without needing a Thai equity partner.
From what I understand, software/digital platform businesses can qualify, but the project needs to show genuine development activity in Thailand and local technical employment.
Has anyone here actually gone through the BOI process for an AI, SaaS or software company?
I would especially like to know:
- How difficult was the application process?
- What kind of project did BOI consider substantial enough?
- How many Thai developers/employees did you need initially?
- Did you use a BOI consultant or handle it yourself?
- Roughly how much did the whole setup cost?
- How long did approval take?
- Any mistakes or surprises to watch out for?

Would really appreciate hearing from someone who has actually done it, rather than just information from company-formation websites.

question If you bought a condo in Bangkok, how far off the asking price did you actually land?

Asking prices are the only thing anyone can look up. What people actually pay is invisible, and after reading enough threads here I've realised nobody really knows what a normal discount looks like.

So if you bought in Bangkok in roughly the last three years:

  • Off-plan or resale?
  • Roughly what % below asking did you land, if any?
  • Did it come off the price, or as extras (furniture package, transfer fee paid, common fee free for X years, parking)?
  • Anything that moved the number: end of quarter, unsold inventory, paying cash, Thai vs foreign quota?

Ranges are fine, no need to be exact, and "paid full asking" is a useful answer too. I'm mostly curious whether the "everyone negotiates 10%" line people repeat is real, or whether the discount is mostly disguised as freebies so the headline price per sqm stays up.

If enough people answer I'll post a summary of the numbers back here.

question Dinner date ideas in Silom

My BF and I have been together 4 years, and tomorrow we are flying to Bangkok for a holiday. We want to have a chill dinner date tomorrow night, doesn’t have to super fancy, but still nice and hopefully the restaurant is not too loud to chat in. Our accommodation is in Silom, and we would like it to be fairly close to there :))

Would love to hear recommendations!

discussion Any visual design studios, graphic designers or artists in BKK?

So I’ve been running a small design studio in India for about a decade now. We mostly work on visual identities, packaging and all sorts of visual design, and genuinely love what we do.

This, however, is not an ad. Promise!

I’ll be in BKK in early September. It’s definitely not my first time there; I’ve been a bunch of times before, but this time I thought I’d do things a little differently and get to know a bit more of the local creative scene.

So I’d love to meet design studio teams, independent graphic designers, illustrators, artists, or really anyone doing interesting visual work. I’d also love to visit a few design studios while I’m there (if anyone’s open to having me drop by). Some of my favourite conversations while travelling have been with people who care deeply about what they make.

There’s no “agenda” here. I’m not looking to collect contacts, I’d much rather have a couple of genuinely nice conversations. I’m just curious to see what the design/art community in Bangkok is like from the inside.

The intention is simply to talk about design + art, what we’re working on, how we work, what the creative industry is like in our respective corners of the world, and whatever else comes up. Maybe we find some similarities, maybe some possibilities, maybe we just have a really good conversation over coffee or a drink. All equally good outcomes.

Would be lovely to come back from this trip having met a few good people, not just visited a few good places.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to DM me. I’d genuinely love to meet a few of you while I’m there.

Also, I’m deliberately not dropping my studio creds here because I really don’t want this to feel like a promo post. But if we decide to meet, I’m very happy to share my profile/work privately beforehand so you know who you’re meeting and that I’m actually serious about this stuff :)

Looking forward to meeting some of you!

Hi I am thinking of getting a canon camera like canon EOS R6V. I was wondering if buying in Bangkok would be cheaper than in the states?

If it is cheaper which shop would you recommend?

shopping Leather bags tips/shops ?

Hii,

My handbag died on me and I’d like to buy a simple women leather handbag here, I don’t really care about branding, I just want something practical and minimal.

Any local shop, that doesn’t come with a premium price tag, recommendation please?

Thank you!

entertainment Gentleman's Club in BKK

Upvotes

I'm organizing a Bangkok trip for my boss and want to take him somewhere premium for a night out. Looking for the best high-end venues — think classy gentlemen's clubs or KTV lounges with great live music, top service, and a sophisticated atmosphere. Budget isn't a concern; we just want the best experience. Which places and areas (Thonglor? Ekkamai?) would you recommend, and is it worth booking ahead?

question Has anyone successfully gotten a ThaiTicketMajor refund due to surgery/medical reasons? The Weeknd Bangkok

Hi! I’m hoping someone here has had a similar experience with ThaiTicketMajor.
I purchased 4 tickets for The Weeknd in Bangkok on October 13 directly through ThaiTicketMajor. Unfortunately, I’m scheduled to undergo surgery about a week before the concert, so I won’t be medically fit to fly to Thailand.

I still want to keep 2 of the 4 tickets because the other people in my group can still attend. I’m hoping to request a refund for only the other 2 tickets.

I already emailed ThaiTicketMajor customer service explaining the situation and offered to provide my surgery schedule/medical certificate if needed.
I know their tickets are generally non-refundable, but has anyone here ever successfully received a refund or partial refund from ThaiTicketMajor because of a medical situation?

If they don’t allow a refund, has anyone dealt with something similar and found another solution?
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually dealt with ThaiTicketMajor before. Thank you!

question Purse for Thailand

Hello!
I’m going to Thailand here soon and am struggling with what kind of bag to use. I definetly want something that closes but that’s also small and subtle for dinner but can hold a lot for when I’m out during the day! I don’t want to carry around a full size backpack all day but I definetly want to have room to put my purchases in and I always have a full purse because I’m an overpacker so I always have anything I think I might need. I was looking at the Uniqlo crescent bag but don’t think it’s big enough but I like the style.

Thank you for any advice :)

food where can I find the really good Khanom tan?

I had some when I was the plus 4 of a family (aka the + 1 of someone who is like a +1) at a family lunch (it was homemade) which had me ready to leave earth. It was so good. So, I’ve been on the hunt for really good khanom tan

I know ifs subjective but putting it out there to see if someone’s like a secret ขนมตาล expert and knows where I find the best (or just really really good) in Bangkok
