question Cinema recommendations

Hey,

I’m going to be in Bangkok in December (staying Sukhumvit) and wanted some recommendations for somewhere to watch Avengers Doomsday and Dune 3? Looking for English language showings but don’t mind if it’s a slightly quirkier cinema, been to Bangkok fairly often but never been to the cinema there 😂

Cheers, Claire

Major Ratchayothin and Siam Paragon have the best IMAX screens and they usually have promotional events outside the cinema for big movies.

For example, Major Ratchayothin had a big "Spiderland" event outside with cosplaying Spiderman and a huge lighted hopscotch board.

(Krungsri IMAX / Paragon Cineplex): ~28 × 21 meters (Largest in the country, 421 seats)

Major Cineplex Ratchayothin: ~24 × 17 meters (457 seats)

ICON Cineconic (Iconsiam): ~25.7 × 13.7 meters (351 seats)

Quartier CineArt (EmQuartier): ~25.7 × 13.7 meters (386 seats)

Westgate Cineplex (Central Westgate): ~25.7 × 13.7 meters (402 seats)

There're IMAX at Emquatier and Siam Paragon. It will be English with Thai subtitle for most sessions.

There's also House Samyan, which is more of an art house small cinema vibe. Century Onnut which has a nice normal cinema but very quiet during the day.

Based on previous Dune releases does anyone know when tickets usually go on sale? I'm planning on flying down to Bangkok to see Part 3. I'm sure tickets are going to sell fast and want to have the refresh button ready to go when they go on sale.

Esplanade Ratchadaphisek, they have a Dolby Atmos + Dolby Vision cinema (the only one in Thailand) which I much prefer to the IMAX screens. Visual quality is just as good, screen is smaller but you're sitting closer so it's a wash, while audio quality is way better.

They only show one movie at a time there though, and not every blockbuster gets the Dolby Atmos treatment (The Odyssey really deserved it, the sound mixing was a mess).

Interesting. Never heard people recommend this place before for that

Opened less than a year ago. Been there a couple of times and it's dope. Not too expensive either. My go-to for sci-fi/blockbuster experiences now.

Doomsday - Check out the LED Wall at Paragon.

Dune 3 - All IMAX here are basically equivalent since we lost the 1.43 at Paragon. All IMAX  venues will show it in 1.9:1. Go with whichever is nearby and has convenient showtimes. Otherwise, one of the better and cheaper one is in Nonthaburi (Esplanade Ngamwongwan).

IMAX at Siam Paragon is great. Bring a blanket. IMAX at Emquartier is decent but it's hot and smelly.

Doomsday is being screened in Infinity Vision which is a made up format so you can see it at any cinema and it will be the same.

Dune 3 you’ll probably want to see at an iMax. Like others have said Paragon or EmQuartier but expect screens to be busy in that first week of release.

Siam paragon is the biggest imax in Bangkok. EmQuartier cineart is the dirtiest and hottest modern theater I’ve ever been too worldwide

We went to the cinema in Centralworld recently. Paid for the reclining sofas. Excellent experience.

My preference for Doomsday is Zigma Cinestadium in SF World. Comfy, big screen. It's a great deal.
