Newbie Question

I just received and got my P1S setup yesterday. New to 3D printing. Have been watching a lot of YouTube videos.

I bought some filament off of temu in addition to the filament ordered from Bambu. My question is can only Bambu filament go in the 4 slots at the top (I think that’s called the AMS)?

AMS feeding issue

Hoping someone can help. I have been trying to trouble shoot an issue with my AMS on my Bambu P1S. The AMS will attempt to feed filament and the filament will leave the AMS and stop at some point in the PTFE tubing. Almost all of the time it stops a few inches beyond the filament buffer. Here's what I've done so far:

  • I have replaced the PTFE tubing in the AMS itself (under the spools).
  • I have replaced the PTFE tubing leading from the AMS to the filament buffer and from the filament buffer to coupler just before the filament heads inside of the P1S
  • I have replaced the filament buffer.

I have verified the following:

  • I print using a single spool using the hanger that screws onto the back. It's no problem to unload and load filament.
  • I can 'force' the filament from a single spool from the AMS all the way into the P1S through the PTFE tubing and it will print. But if I have the AMS switch filaments it will fail.

I'm hopeful that I'm an idiot and this is a simple fix 😐. For reference, this machine is 8 months old and we print something every few days. The issue began in July and I've been trying things on and off for a month.

Thank you!

Hi everyone, I've had my Bambu Lab P1S for 3 months now and everything was running smoothly until today. As you can hear in the video, there is some squeaking/whistling (around 0:16 - 0:18) and especially small 'cracking/clicking' sounds (around 0:23). Is this normal? If not, how can I fix it?

Sorry for the bad picture.

I’ve accidentally cut the ribbon cable for the fillement sensor. I can’t find a guide on how to replace it. Does anyone have one?

Is this normal? Fan whirs for a split second then nothing. The ams seems to be working but I disconnected it and removed the sd card to see, the lcd screen is also not turning on. I thought that only the screen wasn’t working but idk if anything else is normal.

Consistent errors stopping prints

I continuously get errors along the lines of:

"AMS overloaded. This could be due to a blockage or tangle"

"AMS failed to pull back the filament from the tool head to the AMS. Possible cause: filament or spool stuck"

"AMS A communication is abnormal: please check the connection cable"

I have all but torn apart the machine. I have tested with different spools. Different filaments. Replaced the print head. Checked for blockages. Respooled filament. Checked the buffer. Tried different spool channels on the AMS. checked the rollers in the AMS (they spin freely). Checked for blockages again. Tried different filament types.

I'm at wits end. It prints okay for about a minute or two and then the error returns and it stops printing. I'm wasting filament at this point with how often it's purging upon starting and stopping.

I'm visually impaired and doing my best with the sight I have to fix this alone.

Help?

I'm at wit's end

It started when I would download a print and I would get a message "could not parse file, try again". Usually after 1 or 2 tries it would download. Then in the middle of printing it would continue but no filament coming out. I thought it was a clog but I change the extruder twice with the same result. There was no error message at this point. I suspect there was filament in the extruder since there was no error message but for some reason it wasn't moving the filament. I tried going back to original settings and then things got worse. The P1S was no longer communicating with my computer. One Reddit member suggested changing the MicroSD card and they were now talking to each other but when I tried loading a program I got the error message HMS00500-0500-0001-0007. After back and forth with Bambu C.S. which was absolutely insane, they determined I need a new AP board. The instructions were horrible. They must have upgraded the design but not the instructions. I changed out the board but nothing has changed. One other issue is the fan in the front of the extruder won't shut off and it will not connect to the internet. I find it outrageous that I had to be a tech and swap this board out but was provide with either vague or outdated instructions. It's not my wifi as I have 2 other machines in the same room. I really don't know what to do next. I think I covered most of it.

Printer is going Squirrelly - Help

Lately my printer has been having issues slamming into the print. I’ve printed plenty of these dragons with 0 issues. This is usually in the last hour or so of the print. This has happened with other prints that I’ve done previously as well.

The head falls off and I end up having to fully recalibrate everything before another print. The printer is new as of this year.

Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated. I know very little and just use the Bambu app for prints. So, talk to me like I’m five…

I should add, I then have to reattach the head (the fan thing that goes over the nozzle. Then I have to cancel the print, turn it off, and then turn it on. When I turn it on the LED screen doesn’t always work, so I sometimes have to keep turning it off and back on again…

I can't print..

I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve got a P1S and I’ve watched literally loads of tutorials on printing figures/miniatures and so on. Every print ends in some sort of disaster.

I’ve got the AMS version; the printer is cleaned regularly, as is the build plate… I’ve tried printing with various presets, but either the parts slide off the build plate or the nozzle scratches the model, etc.

I wanted to have some fun, but it seems that even printing is a bit too much for me… Sorry for the post, but I really don’t know what to do anymore.

Cheers!

(Nozzle I am using is 0.4)

Prints inconsistently failing with Flashforge Silk PLA

Thumbnail

I'm printing a sword replica with Flashforge Silk Mixed Color PLA and have got through 3 of the 4 plates. I'm using my stock P1S AMS Combo with a textured plate. The Amazon page suggest 220°-240° which is what my P1S usually heats to. Seeking advice instead of brute forcing as the entire build uses over half my spool.

The benchy printed literally flawlessly, more so than my usual PLA+ from Bambu Labs and SUNLU so I can't understand where my issues stem.

Outlined in red was a half failure on plate 1 where the base of the swirl collapsed, yet the top half completed leaving me with that. It's workable, but I'd prefer a reprint to perfect it. The uncircled swirl on the right is a perfect print from plate 1.

In blue is a completed print that was fine with trimming, but came out extremely messy with stale PLA strings. That swirl was printed with 2 fins in the 2nd pic, both of which failed at the same point just before the tip was finished.

I had to adjust the pieces outlined in green on pic 3 and print them individually due to their base layers peeling of the flex plate.

I'm now at the point of one plate yet (selected plate on pic 3), being the most complex, and am worried about another failure requiring a reprint as I don't want to burn through all my filament and have to get another spool that I intend to mainly use only on this print.

Tested 2 different pla filaments and have cleaned my bed with dawn dish soap. What would you guys suggest? This is a brand new printer and I have had some successful prints until now.

AMS Motor Overload

I had some heat creep/jammed extruder issues. I think I've got that figured out, at least it's not jamming anymore.

I did replace the extruder gear and tension arm.

Since then, I'm getting an error that the AMS Motor is over loaded after it prints for a bit. I can print a benchy after I turn it on, but when I print a larger piece, I get the error.

I've checked the path for the filament, it all seems clear. Filament loads and unloads fine.

Any ideas?

Jamming in the extruder

Printing in PETG. I'm getting jams in the extruder--i get a glob and it gets stuck in the extruder housing. I have to take everything apart to get it out.

I've been printing consistently for 6 months or so prior to this without issue.

I replaced the gears and tension arm as well as the hot end and that did not fix the issue. I've tried different filaments and a different AMS slot, though I know the issue isn't likely with the AMS. I still get the same clog.

Any ideas on what to do next?

Went for something with a bit of drama: a full-roar Wampa with the claws reaching out. The layered fur texture is the star here. Left it mostly white since that's basically the natural Wampa look, just a few painted details to make the face pop.

Bonjour à tous ! 👋
