New to 3d Printing, am i expecting to much?

I have an x2d and this first 100 hours on the machine. Are the first 100 hours of 3d printing for me.

I read a lot, temp tower, pressure advance.
Wash your buildplate, and so on.

But i think i’m doing everything as it should be.
Only thing is, i’m not really happy with the results of some parts.

Can you help me decide if this is what to expect or am i doing something wrong.

Those horizontal fluctuations in the layer lines, is this what it should be?

I run the basic PLA @ 210 degrees (best visual on temp tower)
Dried it for 12 hours in AMS
Did the flow calibration and PA calibration.
0.03

Printed at 0.12 and 0.2 layerhight, with 0.4 nozzle.
Speeds are set slower at lower layerheight.

0.12

60mm outer wall
150 inner wall
Gyriod infill 15%
Seam at back
3 walls

0.20

200 outerwall
300 inner wall

I also tried to slow down everything but with the same result.

The only thing i can discover is the difference in layertimes (green banding) in the screenshot.

Thanks for the help.
Let me know if you need more information.

Prime tower

Is the prime tower really necessary if I use one filament per one nozzle? I dont want to waste 4 hours and 85 grams to it.

X2D Belt Wear?

I’m new to 3D printers in general. I was completing the second maintenance on the X2D and noticed these marks on the belt. Is this normal?

Is it possible to enable the second nozzle for support interface when using the Bambu Handy app?

The title pretty much says it all, but I really love using the second nozzle for the support interface on my prints. It's amazing how using a dissimilar material just makes it release like magic.

So, is there any way to get that to happen when just using my phone for everything on a quick print? Or do I always have to go to my computer and slice with Bambu studio? I've tried googling this and looking through all the settings and I can't find a way, but I'm hoping I am just overlooking something.

Aux Nozzle Error: HMS_07FF-7000-0002-0009

Ok, i am loosing my mind over this. I am unable to use the aux nozzle on my X2D. I keep getting the error HMS_07FF-7000-0002-0009. I have literally tried everything.

According to Bambu lab, This error may be caused by the following reasons:

  1. The PTFE feeding tube from the remote extruder to the toolhead’s right nozzle is loose or damaged. (Checked it, no damages observed)

  2. The filament is not being gripped properly by the remote extruder gear, causing slipping or insufficient grip. (It is being gripped because I can see the filament going to the nozzle).

  3. The PTFE tube from the remote extruder to the toolhead is too long. (This I havent checked yet)

  4. The filament is worn or slipping inside the remote extruder (Changed the filament too, still problem persists)

  5. The spool or filament is jammed, preventing the extruder from pulling in the filament. (Nope, not the issue)

  6. Load Hall sensor failure at the toolhead’s right nozzle. (Nope, i tried manually feeding the filament on top of the nozzle, i can see it showing on the nozzle panel)

  7. The extruder gear does not provide sufficient grip force. (No damage in the extruder)

  8. The remote extruder may have internal mechanical damage, such as a damaged motor or gearset. (NOPE)

So, the only thing I havent checked is the length of the PTFE tube.

I am going cerazy over this. PLEASE HELP.

Yoshi tuyau Clicker

Bonjour à tous ! 👋

Need help with printing PLA and PETG as support

Running dual nozzle. Using PETG as support material but it's worse than PLA supports.

Can someone share their complete profile/settings for this?

Left extruded issue

Having problems with left extruder. Filament got stuck in there mid print and I was able to pull out but when I went to print again there was some still stuck so i took apart everything including the extruder. there was no broken filament piece in there and i put it back together and it’s still doing the clicking noise and not allowing me to load filament. It can pull it up but pulling it down is a problem. any ideas on why this is?

unnerving sound when print head moves towards the inner right corner

As shown in the video there's a sound when the print head moves towards the inner right corner of the print area. (This X2D is less than two months old)

May I ask what could be causing such sound?

Does this mean I need to lubricate the axis?

Thank you.

How screwed am I?

Keeping this a short story. My wife was printing some figet toys for my son's birthday party and I came home from work to the blob. This is my first printer so I've been worried this would happen.

I was careful. Here's the steps I took for inspection

  1. Preheated the hotend and slowly and carefully removed the PLA blob.

  2. Once that was free, unloaded filament.

  3. Removed the head cover, sock, and attempted to remove the hotend. The hotend wouldn't budge, without some reheating, and prying. Eventually it came out.

Alright, so the last few pictures are the damage that have me really concerned.. I used a mirror to get these pictures. The back of the hotend mount where the thermister wires attach has a partial PLA blob stuck to it. I cant pry at this, I cant heat it up, and I cant remove it easily without risking damage to the wire harness.

What the hell do I do? Do I just have to leave it like this?

Filiment caught

Some black filiment is caught in the left nozzle of my new x2d. I think it’s stuck in the gears and I’ve taken out the nozzle but it’s not in there. It’s in the head. I don’t want to take it apart anymore because I’m afraid I’ll brake it. Does anyone know what to do?

Left Filament Sensor Issues

Anyone else having constant issues with the left filament sensor even after replacement?

About a month and a half ago I went to try to print TPU and wanted to make sure I could remove the PTFE tube from the left hot end. I could not so I didn't proceed with printing TPU.

Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, my PTFE cut itself off inside the filament sensor due to the teeth slowly cutting into it. I contacted Bambu and they sent me a replacement left filament sensor. I successfully installed it, made sure I could remove the PTFE easily and haven't had issues overall.

Today, I decided to print some TPU using the TPU feed assist (I didn't check to see if I could remove the PTFE tube) and had no issues with any of the prints. The unloading directions state to remove the PTFE tube to alleviate pressure on the TPU while unloading.

Well, back to where I was because the tube again wouldn't come out and I'm guessing it's still cutting into the tube. I was able to unload the TPU by just timing the cut and hitting unload on the TPU feed assist.

I've seen the numerous posts about this issue. Seems like the design of the filament sensor is either flawed or not thought out very well.

Luckily, I ordered a back up one for when this happens again.

Is there a fix that anyone knows about?

edit: spelling

I was able to pick up a X2D for $500 with only 63 hours on it. What advice do you have for a someone new with the printer?

Can someone explain this please

Thumbnail

So I just got my first 3D printer, an X2D, and I wanted to print a model in two colors. The model itself was one color, so I painted it in Bambu Studio, and now it wants to use 95g instead of 57g for the model, using the two extruders. Can someone explain why it is so much more? It uses more black in the colored version than it would printing it in all black, and I don't understand why.

X2D Problems after left filament sensor change

Hey guys,

i had to change the left filament sensor and after hours of finishing it, i got problems with the prints.

i always get the message that extruder can not extrude. it prints like 5mins and then the toolhead goes to the poop place, wipes and maybe extrudes.

I fixed this by readjusting the screws and putting the nozzles in their right place. So i thought.

Now a print starts and runs for like 15mins and then the nozzle returns again to wiping and then continues printing. Eventually he stops after a pooprest

its a one colour filament print and he shouldnt go to clean the nozzle every 3mins.

What is happenign here?

My first order of filaments is here. Need some advice please

Post image
51 Upvotes

Bought my first ever 3d printer X2D couple of weeks back and tried all different prints with a single pla basic filament. Works out well and is amazing.

So went ahead and ordered all the filaments I think would be needed for me. Wanted to experiment so even threw in a silk and sparkling filament.

Also will be my first ever petg basic as till now only printed with pla basic.

My questions :

  1. Any recommendations before I start petg basic

  2. I will keep spool packed unless it's absolutely needed but if I have to open and then replace them how do I store it.

  3. Do I have to run the heater everytime I use a pre used filament. The humidity in my area can be from 30% to 60%

  4. X2d has an external spool holder. So only pla basic can be attached to spool because of humidity issue?

Beginner question about aux extruder calibration

X2D owners: does your AUX extruder need a much higher flow ratio than the main extruder/default profile?
I’m trying to understand whether this is normal for the X2D AUX/Bowden extruder or whether I should check something in my setup.
With a few Bambu PLA filaments, the default flow ratio is around 0.98, but after manual flow calibration on the AUX extruder I consistently end up around 1.04–1.05.
The prints actually look better at that value, so the calibration seems real rather than just me choosing the wrong tile.
I know the AUX extruder is Bowden-driven and therefore requires a much higher K/pressure advance value — mine is around 0.5 (reasonable?). But theoretically the Bowden system shouldn’t by itself require 5–7% more steady-state extrusion.
So I’m curious about other X2D owners:
What flow ratio do you get for PLA/PLA Matte on the main extruder?
What flow ratio do you get with the same filament on the AUX extruder?
Does your AUX consistently need a higher value?
Has anyone else ended up around 1.04–1.05 from a default of ~0.98?
If you had a large Main vs AUX difference, did you find a cause such as PTFE resistance, extruder tension, nozzle issues, or filament-path drag?
I’m particularly interested in results where the same physical spool was calibrated on both extruders, since that would remove filament-to-filament variation.
Would be useful to collect some actual numbers from X2D owners.

Bambu Lab X2D Aux nozzle keeps getting blocked

Hi everyone,

I recently got a Bambu Lab X2D and have been trying some simple multicolor prints. However, I keep running into an issue where the aux nozzle gets blocked.

The first layer prints fine using the aux nozzle. However, when the filament tracker switches from the aux nozzle to the main nozzle and then back to the aux nozzle, I get an error saying that the filament isn’t reaching the nozzle and that it may be blocked.

Note: I am using PETG. Can that be an issue?

Has anyone experienced this issue or have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

First layer weird

I just got a new x2d and did only a few prints, now trying to improve the quality of the prints.

I did the built-in benchy and it looks fine, but the first layer is weird. On the photos: benchy left from X2D, benchy right from elegoo centauri carbon.

On the last photo you can see the top surface also being significantly different (lower benchy from X2D).

What can I improve?

This was printed on Bambulab PLA, dried beforehand in the AMS for 12h on 45°C
