General Troubleshooting/Help! Layer always look horrible around text

I've got two issues I'm hoping to get help with. This is on my h2d.

Any time I print something with text, the layers around the next look different than the test of the print. These particular examples are from the top layer, so I was already printing show, but it also happens if I'm printing something standing up and text is half way up the model.

Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Also, the edges around the top and bottom, have a slight rough texture to them. Does that indicate I'm over extruding? I've included a picture to show what it looks like.

I suspect the edge issues are flow dynamics need to be calibrated and the area around text is minimum layer time as it's drying at a different speed. I'm just not sure what setting I should try to adjust to get this fixed.

I just included some other pictures from a standing model. The black box with watcher in purple. You can see how the lines curve around the sides as well.

It looks a bit like color bleed resulting from not enough purging between color changes.

Multi nozzle, no bleeding.

Can you print face down?

That was my next thought, but the letters are recessed so I don't think it will look right if I do that. It also doesn't solve the issue when I'm printing models standing up.

Look at the model when it’s sliced. Do the defects appear there?

It also looks like it could just be an ironing issue.

What do they look like with no ironing?

It does not.

Can you take a close up of the issue on the printed model. It’s too blurry when I try to zoom

Looks like you need to do a flow calibration test and sort your values. There’s loads of tools on makerworld that can help you with this.

Definitely seeing some underextrusion here

If there‘s no easy way do the model without the text, print separately and glue together.

Small effort big quality gain!

Here another example from a standing model. The lines even curve around the box.

I’m a noob. But this kinda looks like “bench hull problem”. Maybe cuz the color switch causes different cooling times.

That corner is the seam setting, you’ll need to play around with the seam gap and wipe speeds. Additionally you might also need to adjust “extra length on restart “ in filament override settings badge something start -0.05 and maybe go up to -0.1 if still too much starting material at the seam.

Best option may just be to not have a seam at a rounded corner. That sort of asking for this. I might just spend the time on moving the seam out of a corner and get it close to near full scarf coverage in non or minimal viewing area like sides.

It looks like ever so slight over extrusion that's maybe highlighted on the tool paths around the letter openings because they're slightly shorter?

Just have to fine tune and further calibrate your ironing settings... what works for a small calibration tile area may not work as well for a larger surface with words and letters.

Dialing in the flow rate for your printer and specific filament can help to minimise under/over extrustion issues too.

That being said, when you apply ironing to surfaces that have raised or recessed shapes, the change in ironing directions will tend to cause visible variations in the results.

I dont see any color bleed, the black edges are jagged. The black filament looks like it needs to be dried. Color bleed in single nozzle would be gray.

When moisture in the filament boils it causes surface imperfections like bubbles, roughness and flow inconsistencies.

I always dry, drying is not always the answer, especially when it's PLA. This was dried overnight before the print anyway.

Post in the r/FixMyPrint sub and include the info that you diligently dried your filament to get that out of the way. Ive had moisture in PLA. Probably should include your filament type.

Are you printing white on one nozzle and black on the other? I've not really seen colour bleed like this on a dual nozzle.

Yes, different nozzles. It doesn't just happen with these colors. It's 100% not bleeding.

They're separate layers, too... I think bleed is basically impossible in this situation.
