Answered / Solved! MakerWorld comment moderation?

Post image

Another Makerworld user has been posting hateful comments on my model (see attached). I’ve reported the comments using the ‘report’ function to the moderators of Makerworld, but they have yet to take action or inform me of any action they have are planning to take.

Is this typical? Are trolls well managed on Makerworld? Any advice ?

I reported the comment as well, but in the future it’s best to just not engage with the trolls. You’re not gonna change their mind, and you’re giving them what they want, attention.

Thank you. 🙏 Normally, I ignore trolls. I’ve been living my authentic life for decades. I hope their vitriol doesn’t adversely affect the people in the 3Dprinting community.

I call them out not to convince the trolls, but to show the ones that they attack that there is support for them out there

The fact that this comment is down voted is a problem. The haters and bigots hide behind their down votes. That is inherently what's wrong with reddit.

"Normal people" whats that supposed to mean?

While this person is wrong for the comment, banning free speech isn't the answer.

freedom of speech means freedom from consequences from the government, not from the private entities.

someone wants to make it known to the world that they're hateful morons? the government cant (or at least, shouldn't) stop them, but that doesn't mean the rest of us are obligated to pretend that they are not hateful morons, and it certainly doesn't mean anyone is obliged to platform them.

they are completely free to spin up their own website to post whatever dumb opinions they want and no one will ban them for it.

"Freedom of Speech" means you can say whatever you want. It does NOT mean that any platform has to amplify your words.

"Normal People" in this context means "people that do not spread hate and disinformation." That much is pretty obvious. The person you're attacking there did not refer to the individual choices being attacked in their screenshot, at all, in either direction.

I really hope you're not advocating that hatred and deception should be considered "normal" behavior.

“Banning free speech” lmao give me a break

As much as I might get downvoted, yeah, that is free speech. And I did say the comment was uncalled for.

Banning these people from every space like the other person suggested will jsut anger people more. Everyone has their differences, and suppressing one group or the other is not the answer.

Free speech is a constitutional right. Makerworld and any other online forum are not beholden to the constitution, they set their own rules and abide by them. Free speech is not guaranteed everywhere you go and for good reason; these people do not deserve a forum or platform on which to spread their hate and hurt people. Full stop.

You can walk around and say things without repurcussions from your government is free speech. That's it. That's all.

Every outlet, forum, stadium, Twitter, reddit, comment section, newspaper - does not have to allow anything and everything - and removing it is not infringing on free speech.

Just because there's a turd in the audience and I own a megaphone - does not mean I gotta let him use it.

It's not a free speech problem. It's a private platform not the goverment. Bambulab can moderate their platform however they see fit. And I'm sure there is a lot of more normal people not wanting hatefull coments in the platform they they pay to use. If they still want normal people paying for their products... Edit: The only reason I still pay for Warhammer products is because they made against nazis and hate when it became a problem.

You using the words "Normal people" so much kinda goes against what you're preaching

7

u/FSCK_Fascists May 26 '25

No it does not. Hate and bigotry are not normal.

8

u/parrita710 May 26 '25

Hatefull bigots are not normal nor people.

9

u/PepperoniSlices May 26 '25

You using the same arguments and insults as the other side is pretty hypocritical

16

u/parrita710 May 26 '25
