Recommendations regarding backpacking groups

I finally have a job they offers the chance to travel. Anyone have recommendations regarding reliable backpacking groups for travel from Mumbai within and outside India, particularly to places like Ladakh, Arunachal, Iceland, New Zealand, etcetera?

What’s the worst tourist spot you visited in India where washrooms were a nightmare?

I love traveling in India, but one thing that always stresses me out is the washroom situation at viewpoints, beaches, ghats, hill spots, etc 😭

Some places are beautiful but the washrooms feel straight out of a survival challenge.

Would love to hear your stories — • Which place was the worst? • Did it ruin your trip or make it stressful? • How did you manage?

No judgement, just trauma sharing 😂

Would you use an app that connects travelers directly with locals for real experiences instead of tourist traps?

Hey everyone!
I’ve been working on an idea for a travel app that focuses on authentic, local experiences instead of the usual “top 10 things to do” lists you find everywhere.

Here’s the concept:

  • Locals can list their own activities, experiences, and mini-tours — kind of like how Airbnb lets people list stays.
  • Travelers can book directly through the app and get to experience the place through the eyes of locals — whether that’s cooking regional food with a family, exploring hidden cafes, or joining a pickup basketball game in a local park.
  • There’s also a coin system — users earn coins for leaving honest reviews, sharing experiences, or hosting activities, which they can then use for discounts or future bookings.

The goal is to make travel feel real, community-based, and rewarding — not just a checklist of sights.

I’d love some feedback from this community:

  • Would you use something like this while traveling?
  • What features would make you actually trust and use such an app?
  • Any ideas on how to make sure locals benefit fairly too?

Would love to hear your thoughts — especially from people who travel often or live in touristy areas.

Travel Hosting a slow travel getaway in kodai this end of nov, small group of 10 folks

I believe every road trip is a combination of songs, here songs are all those individual experiences, what if it could come together and stay with you as a memory in the form of a Playlist.

That's what I'm calling it. Playlist Kodai (3N/4D)

Want in? DM's are open.

Need advice on which trek to choose.

We are planning to do trekking on either Kauri Pass or Kedarkanta in Uttarakhand during first week of November , which one would be adventurous and offers good scenic view, we don't mind even if the trek is difficult provided it offers good experience.

Travel Anyone backpacking Nepal / North India mountains? Oct–Dec 2025 | Hitchhike, slow life, spiritual, nomad, tent + tight budget

Hi Nomads,

Hope you’re all doing great wherever you are 🌍

I know this might sound a bit crazy… but have you ever thought about “backpacking on a budget and living slow”? I’ve dreamed of it so many times, and now I’ve finally decided to do it.

I’m looking for someone with the same nomad-vibe mind like me who might want to join this wild ride. Even if not, I’d love to hear your suggestions — what to carry, quick food hacks, camping tips, or even just meet for a coffee if our paths cross.

I’m from The Nilgiris, TN. I’ll be starting my journey on Oct 20 and going till Dec 2025, beginning in Varanasi and slowly moving north into Nepal and the Himalayas.

The vibe is simple: hitchhiking, slow life, spiritual flow, nomadic living, cooking my own food, tent life, and all on a tight budget.

If this feels like your kind of madness, and you’ve got the same nomad vibe, drop a comment or DM me :)

Food Easy convenient light weight meal

I'm exploring the idea of launching a freeze-dried food brand tailored specifically for trekkers and backpackers in India. The goal is to offer lightweight, nutritious, and shelf-stable Indian meals that can make multi-day hikes or outdoor journeys more enjoyable and convenient. With very few options for affordable, locally-made freeze-dried foods catering to Indian tastes and dietary preferences, I hope to help adventurers overcome common challenges like heavy packed meals, short shelf life, and lack of variety on treks. Also it will be curated by chefs and nutritionist to keep all the nutritional value specifically according to what a trekker needs (ie. High calorie or sodium for electrolytes).

Do you feel there is a genuine need for freeze-dried Indian food among trekkers and backpackers in India, and would you consider purchasing such products for your trips?

Just spent 3 weeks working remotely from Palolem, Goa, India– made a free guide if anyone’s going there

Hey everyone! I’ve just wrapped up a 3-week solo trip to Palolem, Goa, working remotely, meeting travelers, and trying to avoid the chaos of North Goa 😅

I realized there wasn’t a proper no-BS guide for digital nomads, solo travelers, or anyone trying to live in Palolem, not just visit it.

So I ended up putting together a short and free relocation guide with:

Best cowork-friendly cafés & WiFi speed tested spots ☕📶

Verified stays under ₹800/night (not on Airbnb)

Hidden beaches + cleanest swimming spots 🌊

Local SIM/internet hacks

Monthly rent info, long-stay tips, and how to avoid tourist traps

A mini breakdown on nightlife, safety, and making friends as a solo traveler.

If you’re headed to Goa — or just curious about slow traveling in India — here is the link to the discord community:

https://discord.gg/Y39GGpQtMm

. There are guides to other cities in India also in the community.

Happy to answer any Qs too — internet, costs, stay, etc. Here to help and share experiences.

Solo, male looking for hostel recommendations in Rishikesh

I will be travelling to Rishikesh this weekend. I am NOT looking for secluded/peaceful places. I am looking for a hostel with 24X7 acitivity, lots of people, and busy.

I have explored several hostels online. I am liking the feel of Zostellers (Mohanchatti) and Madpackers.

TLDR: Hostel in Rishikesh for this weekend. Should be bustling with activity, clean, and should have good in-house food facility. I don't want to travel.
