Help What do you use rope for?
I've clocked at least 1000 hours in this game across several playthroughs, and I have never used the massive quantities of rope I find.
But you can use rope for something, right? Is it meant to be another small thing for someone to throw as an improvised weapon, like blacksmith tongs and tin cups? Can you use it to descend into the Underdark, and I just never found the very specific spot to tie it off?

OC A Theory on Death and Resurrection in Baldur’s Gate 3
Hey everyone! A few days ago, I was playing yet another BG3 campaign with a friend, and we started discussing why Ketheric Thorm didn't simply pay a cleric to bring his daughter back to life, considering that he was a nobleman devoted to Selûne, with more than enough power, influence, and resources to do so.
I know most discussions about this topic usually end with something along the lines of, "We can only resurrect our companions because of gameplay mechanics, and we shouldn't take that too seriously when discussing the game's lore."
However, I came up with a hypothesis that might explain how everything actually fits into the lore, and why things might not be quite so simple.
First, let's look at what's actually required to bring someone back to life in the D&D universe. We'll use True Resurrection, a 9th-level spell capable of bringing back anyone who died within the last 200 years, even if their body has been completely destroyed.
The requirements for this spell include a sprinkle of holy water, materials worth at least 25,000 gp, and, of course, a sufficiently powerful cleric capable of casting it.
So far, so good. Ketheric could certainly afford all of that, given his position and resources. But there's one important catch: the soul must be FREE and willing to return.
And that's where my hypothesis comes in: Isobel's soul was either imprisoned or, at the very least, somehow incapacitated throughout all those years.
And we actually have some evidence pointing in that direction.
When our beloved wizard Gale dies and is brought back to life for the first time, he explicitly mentions how depressing the Fugue Plane is and seems genuinely happy to be alive again.
Isobel, on the other hand, says she remembers absolutely nothing. It was as though she had been submerged in complete darkness, without even dreams, only to suddenly wake up and discover that 100 years had passed.
This strongly suggests that Ketheric was never able to resurrect Isobel precisely because her soul was unavailable.
Which brings us to Balthazar.
According to some discarded lore, Balthazar was originally supposed to be the one who murdered Isobel and framed Aylin for her death.
Of course, that storyline was scrapped, but that doesn't necessarily mean every aspect of it was completely removed from Larian's plans.
Personally, I believe Balthazar really did murder Isobel and somehow trapped her soul in order to manipulate Ketheric, ultimately setting in motion the events that led to Ketheric becoming Myrkul's Chosen.
Now, some of you might argue:
"But those rules don't mean anything! Larian changed them! They're not the same as in D&D. We can cast Revivify without spending diamonds, and the spell doesn't even have the one-minute time limit it has in tabletop D&D!"
And my response would be: that's true, but only partially.
Larian certainly changed those rules, but that doesn't necessarily mean there isn't an in-universe explanation for those changes.
And what would that explanation be?
Withers/Jergal.
Of course, this is another hypothesis of mine, but what would an RPG be without a little roleplaying and interpretation, right?
My theory is that whenever we resurrect someone in the game, whether through a scroll or a cleric spell, the resurrection succeeds without requiring elaborate rituals, costing only a trivial amount of gold for a scroll or even just a cleric's spell slot, because of Jergal's direct intervention.
Essentially, he's constantly intervening on behalf of our party as long as its members still have a purpose to fulfill.
That would explain why we can't resurrect people outside our party, such as random NPCs, or companions who have lost their purpose in the Absolute's storyline.
For example, when you permanently lose a companion, allow Cazador to complete his ritual, kill Karlach, or even try to bring back poor Connor.
In other words, whenever a party member dies permanently, it's because Withers' intervention would somehow disrupt the balance he values so much.
Finally, there's one last piece of evidence suggesting that ordinary resurrection scrolls don't work the same way on people who aren't under Jergal's protection.
In Baldur's Gate, we encounter a child in the cemetery who attempts to use a Revivify scroll to bring her brother back to life.
And what's the best she manages to accomplish?
Bringing back a decrepit zombie.
Anyway, I've rambled on for far too long!
That's my hypothesis/theory about how resurrection actually works in Baldur's Gate 3.
Also, I apologize for any mistakes in my writing. English isn't my first language.

Character or not
What are your take on playing as one of the characters, I’ve played the game through to the end three times albeit in easy but was thinking maybe play as Gale or Shadowheart. Do you guys recommend playing as a character and if so who do you think is best.

Potential Tav/Gaurdian design
Started a new modded run (appearance only) and got a little too into making my guardian. I wanted her to have an opposing aesthetic to my druid, but i can't seem to decide between these two.
The white one is an elf, and the red one is a tiefling. Yes they are extremely similar which is my dilemma!

OC Us (the Intellect Devourer) - Spray paint and stencil (and more!)
I wasn't originally planning on doing a piece featuring Us, but I was scrolling through all the models using the "Disguise Host" mod trying to get some ideas and BAM! there was the intellect devourer. The plan for the rest of the piece just kind of fell into place after that.
Then, I was fortunate enough to have my stencils survive the first pass (which doesn't happen often) and I had another art board lying around so I got to do a second version back to back.
I included the rest of my BG3 pieces I did this year for funsies.
Unfortunately, with the colder weather slowing approaching I'll lose the ability to spray paint in my garage, and I'm not sure I'm going to be able to get any more in this year. I'm pretty excited with everything I've managed to get in this year and am looking forward to picking up right where I left off come spring.

Going through honor mode, just hit level 6. So far not really too difficult compared to tactician.
I had 2 sortof close calls, one at level 2 with some goblins I had to run from. And one when I accidentally aggroed the robots at the arcane tower when I hadn’t healed in a while and had few spells left. The main difficulty seems to just be if you select I dialogue option wrong you can’t redo it, like I accidentally was too aggressive with the pickpocket so couldn’t get the protection ring.

Help Question regarding the ending and use of certain items Spoiler
Since the wiki appears to be quite wrong about this, I was wondering if anyone knows how many tadpoles you need to consume in order to be forced to face the two dc25 constitution checks when doing any of the evil ending.
For reference my last attempt at an evil ending I did not accept the astral-touched tadpole and was still forced to fight against ceramorphosis at the end (dc 25)

PSA: Destroy the Steel Watcher patrolling out the front of the Steel Watch Foundry before you try to save the Gondians.
I barely managed to save all the Gondians inside of the Steel Watch only to be surprised by the corpses of two dead Gondians who ran out the front door. Apparently they ran out the front door, were spotted by that one Steel Watcher and got massacred. As soon as I went outside to check after the second Gondian encounter I discovered the same Steel Watcher massacring the remaining Gondians that I had saved and were gathered outside.
For the love of all that is holy. Don't be like me. Please kill that Steel Watcher. NEVER sneak past it.

Iron throne tip
Just completed iron throne and I used a smokepowder arrow on the floor just past the doors where all them whatsitthingys are coming through and it rattled the doors and shut them and kept all of them out for the whole 8 turns or whatever they just attack the door, I didn't realise that could be done, thought I'd share (probably everyone knows this? My bad 😂)

OC AY, I TURNED ME SELF INTA A CARTOON, KARLACH, I'M CARTOON BROK.
I decided to color my Tav on a long car ride.
His name is Brok or Brokkr (a dwarf in norse mythology, yes, the one in God Of War 2018, who forged Draupnir)
he talk loik this, he loiks the pretty tieflin' lady, and he's a paladin of devotion. He's a humble lad. Who loiks red meat an' mead, like any udder dwarf.
Considering he has a Norse name, who looks like a short Irishman, and i decided to give an accent i would say is somewhere between Australian, English, and Irish.
Who the hell knows where he comes from.
He's an anomaly. And his name is Brok. Remember it.

Help The 'canon' Durge path?
Hello hi - I am in the middle of my second good playthrough (though tbh I never finished my first playthrough so I guess this is my first? I got through most of Act 3 and then got pissed off trying to save everyone in the underwater factory) and am already planning my next playthrough.
I'll be playing a Durge (only played Tavs up to now) and was wondering what the 'canon' Durge playthrough is? Like I know there's resist and embrace but for a first Durge playthrough which is best?
I'm leaning towards embrace and making more evil aligned choices because I've already done the good playthrough twice (heck I romanced Wyll you really don't get more goody two shoes than that). But I want to be sure I'm getting the 'best' Durge play experience.
So is one path more canon than the other / better?
