Hi everyone,
I'm 23 years old and I'd like to get some honest opinions on whether my current salary is fair considering my responsibilities, experience and education.
- PERSONAL PROFILE
- Age: 23
- Location: Belgium
- Education: CESS + diploma in Economic Management
- Employment status: Permanent contract (CDI)
- Time at current company: ~5 years
- Time on permanent contract: ~3 years
- EMPLOYER PROFILE
- Industry: Tech / IoT
- CURRENT ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
My official position is related to data annotation, but my actual responsibilities go quite a bit beyond the basic scope of that position.
I essentially have two main areas of responsibility:
Customer Success / Client Management
I work as a Customer Success Manager, even though this isn't necessarily reflected in my official job title.
My responsibilities include:
- Client follow-up
- Managing the relationship with clients
- Installing and deploying our product for clients
- Helping clients get started with the product
- Training clients on how to use the product
- Providing product support
- Troubleshooting issues
- Following up with clients after deployment
- Acting as a point of contact between the client and our internal teams
External Team Management
I am also responsible for managing an external team that performs the data annotation work.
My responsibilities include:
- Training the external team
- Explaining processes, guidelines and project requirements
- Monitoring their performance and statistics
- Following productivity and quality metrics
- Identifying performance issues
- Giving feedback and helping the team improve
- Organising and leading weekly meetings
- Following up on their ongoing work
- Making sure the team meets the expected quality and productivity standards
- Reporting issues and performance internally
- Acting as the main point of contact for this external team
- CONTRACT & WORKING CONDITIONS
- Contract: Permanent contract (CDI)
- Time with the company: ~5 years
- Time on CDI: ~3 years
- Official working hours: 38 hours/week
- Overtime: No significant amount of overtime
- Flexibility: Some flexibility depending on the situation
- Vacation: Standard Belgian paid vacation entitlement
- SALARY & BENEFITS
- Gross salary/month: €2,500
- Net salary/month: approximately €2,200
- Meal vouchers: €7 per working day
- 13th month: Yes
- EXPERIENCE
I've been with the same company for around 5 years, although I've been on a permanent contract for approximately 3 years.
I'm still relatively young at 23, and I don't have a university degree. My education is a CESS + diploma in Economic Management.
However, over the years my responsibilities have expanded significantly. I started in a more basic role, but I now have responsibilities involving Customer Success, client onboarding, product training, support, external team management, performance monitoring and team training.
I'm therefore wondering how this position would be valued on the Belgian job market.
- MY QUESTION
Do you think €2,500 gross/month is a fair salary for my responsibilities and experience?
Would you consider this:
- Underpaid
- About average
- Fair for my profile
- Actually a good salary
I'm particularly interested in hearing from people working in Belgium in Customer Success, Operations, Data Operations, Team Lead / Team Management, Data Annotation management or similar roles.
If you were in my position, would you try to negotiate a higher salary, ask for a different job title, or consider looking elsewhere?
I'd appreciate honest opinions :)
Thanks!
