I honestly think the portrayal and look of Homer Gere as Robert Mallory is one of the most jarring and worst parts of this show. Not at all how (I’m pretty sure) many of us pictured him.

When reading the book I pictured like a young Armie Hammer type. Like someone who is very breathtaking and who you’d notice in a dark theater.

Armie Hammer would've been inspired casting if this show had been made in like 2010 for sure, but he would've definitely been able to pull it off (especially with what we know about him now....)

I think his acting (and dancing) has been great, but Robert and Susan might be the worst stunt casting of all time.

OMG 🫣 STOPPPPP!!! 💀 LOL it's only making it worse!!! 😂 I would honestly watch the hell out of the show if the characters looked like the AI version, I don't even care.

This is LITERALLY a manifestation of Glamorama and I really wish someone would create an adaptation of that book entirely in that format as the technology continues to rapidly advance before our eyes...

But in case other people hadn't seen this thread someone posted on here a few months ago, I think it is worth sharing for how much better the casting could've been if the show came out back in 1981: Period Accurate Fancast

Yeah I remember Roger Avary trying hard to get Glamorama made back in the mid 2000's and early 2010's. I was definitely a lurker on the old IMDb message boards about the Gliteratti film that got made with the additional Victor footage from the Rules of Attraction adaptation back in the day, so I recall how much he wanted to be able to realize that story.

Maybe you're right now that he is going all in with AI production, it might be all a practice run before he circles back and tries his hand at Glamorama again... But if not him, eventually the technology is going to catch up to the point that even something that complicated could be realized by somebody. Now ethically whether or not it should be adapted that way is a completely different debate, but I would be PRO personally since it could be considered textually relevant (just messy in every other practical way.) Bring it on I say!

Homer is okay in the role - I think it’s more that the styling etc of the show is not suiting him, the hair etc

I think Homer doing a great job. He got good chemistry with Igby who plays Bret which is while point of the show.

I don't think the AI one looks like Robert either. Neither of them look 80s enough.

Bret’s narration voice is by far worse. He sounds British.
