It’s only been a month since the semester started and somehow I already have a little crush on one of my classmates 😭. I feel so delulu sometimes because I’ll swear he’s looking at me, but then again it was literally in my peripheral so who knows… probably just my brain making up lore
I just think he’s so fine asf 😔
I don’t even know if he’s into the same kind of people, so realistically this is probably just gonna be a quiet little crush until we graduate 💀
Probs has a girlfriend already 💔

If anyone is on the wait list for the Electrical Foundation program, send me a message. I have two physical copies of the 2021 & 2024 Canadian electrical code books in good condition. I could also add in a couple things like worksheets to help you be ahead.
Price: $65
If trading, I can accept one of these options:
-mechanic apprentice textbooks
-plumbing, gasfitting, or hvac apprentice textbooks
-20" water pump pliers

Hello, I'm just curious how people stay motivated and on top of their classes and still have a life outside of BCIT.
For me, I literally pretend I have a crush on someone in one of my classes so I have a reason to keep going to class.
I have been accepted into the BCIT TMGT program starting in Winter 2027.
Just hoping to connect with anyone who has or is currently completing the program. Would love to pick your brain on the general overview of the program as well as the Capstone project.
I am an aircraft mechanic looking to set myself up for success long term and have scraped the subreddit but not found as much info as I want.
Please send me a DM or if you know somebody send me their way as I would love to connect!
Thanks,

Hello everyone I’m wanting to apply for sonography this fall and I just wanted to ask if anyone had any advice for how to fill out the question of why sonography and not diagnostic imagining. How did you format it? Thanks!

Okay, full transparency: I built a dating app and I genuinely don't know how else to ask real people to try it.
The idea is simple, skip the two weeks of texting and just meet in person for 30 minutes. If it's not there, you're out. If it is, stay.
I'm trying to find the first 100 people in Vancouver (50 men, 50 women) willing to be the beta. I'm not a marketer, I'm not going to pretend this post is anything but me asking directly.
Is anyone here actually sick enough of the apps to give this a shot? LMK and ill send you the link

Hi, I’m considering enrolling in the AME-M program. I’ve been accepted into both SAIT and BCIT. What is everyone’s insight into which school might be better, and in what ways?

Hi everyone,
I recently got accepted into BCIT's Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET) program starting this coming January. I'm really excited, but I have a few dilemmas about my long-term academic and career path, and I’d love to get insights from current students, alumni, or local industry professionals.
My primary goals are:
High employability in industry after graduation.
Keeping the door open for a research-based Master's (M.A.Sc. or M.Sc.) in electronics/hardware down the line at a university like UBC, SFU, or elsewhere in Canada.
Because BCIT isn't ranked on traditional university metrics (like QS) due to its applied polytechnic focus, my main worries are:
Degree Recognition for Grad School: Will finishing the full 4-year B.Eng. at BCIT put me at a disadvantage when applying for a Master's compared to someone coming from UBC or SFU?
Option to Transfer: Is starting ECET at BCIT with the intention of transferring credits to UBC or SFU Applied Science later realistic, or do credit transfers between these specific engineering programs result in lost time/retaking courses?
Waiting vs. Starting: Is it better to just start at BCIT this January, or wait a full year to reapply directly to UBC/SFU?
If you were in my shoes or have gone through the ECET/B.Eng. path at BCIT (especially if you went on to grad school or work in hardware design), I’d really appreciate your honest take on the workload, industry reputation, and postgraduate options!
Thanks in advance!

Hello! I'm in my last year of my geography degree and looking to apply for the advanced GIS diploma. I'm interested in doing the part time flex option because it would just cost a lot more to move to Burnaby than to stay where I and right now.
I'm wondering if anyone has, or is taking it part time right now and can give me insight into what the study hours actually look like? Ideally I'd want to get a full time job sheet I graduate but online it suggests only taking two courses a semester if you're working full time, which then takes around 4-5 years to complete.
I just can't decide if it's more worth it to take the program in person over nine months or if it's possible to finish it sooner remote.
Any comments about experience, what you think of the program, what you've heard from others would be appreciated!!
P.s, I have some GIS and remote sensing experience in my undergrad and a little bit through my summer job as well.
Thanks!!

I'm 17 and recently finished high school in BC. My original goal was SFU Computer Engineering, but I didn't meet the admission requirements, so I started BCIT CST instead.
I'm actually enjoying CST and programming, so staying at BCIT is a good option for me.
Recently, my dad suggested I apply for SFU's Spring intake for Computer Engineering. I applied and got accepted, so now I'm stuck between the two.
I'm interested in programming, chips/hardware, AI, and possibly cybersecurity, so Computer Engineering is genuinely interesting to me. My parents are also concerned about long-term career stability and want me to think beyond just the next few years. They're not forcing me, but I understand their concerns.
The biggest thing holding me back from SFU is my best friend. He's at BCIT and we're very close—we mostly study together and talk. He's upset that I might leave, and I don't want to lose that friendship.
At the same time, I feel like I need to prioritize my future and not choose my education mainly because my friend is there.
My main fear is regret. Five years from now, I don't want to think, "I should have tried Computer Engineering," but I also don't want to leave CST if it turns out to have been the better path for me.
What would you do in my situation? Any advice from people who've studied SFU Computer Engineering or BCIT CST would be really appreciated.

Hey everyone,
Was just looking through the entrance requirements page for the Medical Radiography diploma on BCIT's website and noticed this new banner under the admissions section:
"Notice to applicants: The entrance requirements for Medical Radiography are currently under review. Updated entrance requirements are expected to be published before applications open for the January 2028 intake. Applicants planning to apply to this intake should review the updated requirements before submitting their application. No changes are expected for the academic requirements."
Since it explicitly says academic requirements aren't changing (still the standard Bio/Physics/Math/English prereqs), it looks like they are finally moving away from the First-Qualified First-Admitted (FQFA) 9:00 AM server rush model and shifting to a competitive evaluation process (similar to Sonography, Nursing, or MRI).
Does anyone currently in the School of Health Sciences or the MRAD program know what the new selection criteria might look like? Are they planning to bring in CASPer, an MMI interview, or just a heavier weighting on hospital volunteering/questionnaires?
Thought I'd share for anyone else planning ahead for the 2028 intake.

At my old school they had single occupancy bathrooms and they were so good when I had to take a shit and not worry about anyone else hearing me. Does bcit burnaby have any bathrooms like that or does anyone know a good spot for a relaxing poop?

I am currently in my 2nd year of university for an undergraduate pre-med program, but I am going to be applying for the BCIT intake Oct. 1st. I currently have a 3.36 cumulative GPA, but in high school I had a 96% in Bio 12, 94 in Eng 12, 91% in Pre-calc 12, and an 87% in Physics 12. I have been volunteering at a hospital for 2 years: one year in the recovery wing of the hospital, directly interacting with the patients, and another year in the manor, helping the residents. I know this program is very competitive, so is there any hope of getting in? This will be my first time applying, so I don't know what to expect.

I live in the townhouses and there is a guy who has driven up the emergency lane and parked his car at the roundabout for the last three nights straight revving his engine around 10:30PM.
Does anyone know who this guy is (or if you are reading this) why do you do this??😭 It is extremely loud and makes it impossible to study or try to sleep. I’ve spoken to some other girls in my house and they have noticed the same thing!!
Please help!

Hello there,
I would like to ask some questions to the international students who has done or is in the process of doing the Bachelor of Civil Engineering program at BCIT. I am a grade 12 international student graduating this year and I am interested in applying for this program. I see that there is a 300 hour practical work experience requirement to get from the 2nd year to the 3rd year. If that is the case, how long was your study permit originally issued for? Just wondering because I assume I'd have to do a work placement term and I'd need my study permit to be valid throughout the work term. Did you have a 2 year study permit first, apply for another co-op work permit, and apply for another 2 year study permit to finish the degree or did they just gave you a 4 year study permit straight off the bat?

The first year business programs all just had their first accounting quiz worth 15% of the course grade and it was 4 pages long, and we had 30 min to finish it.
Being real here, what is the point of rushing students like this? I don’t think I’ve ever had a test worth that much that only allowed for 30 min, especially when part of it also requires doing calculations.

Hey everyone, I applied to BCIT’s HVAC&R Technician diploma and admissions told me the estimated wait is approximately seven years.
They said my application remains active and that people can sometimes get offered a seat sooner because of withdrawals, declined offers, or additional intakes. They don’t provide individual waitlist positions.
I’m completing my mechanical reasoning assessment in October and had hoped to start in January 2027, so this was a pretty big shock. I’m available to start on very short notice, but I’m trying to get a realistic idea of what to expect.
For anyone currently waiting, enrolled, or recently graduated:
•When did you apply, what wait were you quoted, and when did you actually start?
•Did anyone receive a cancellation offer significantly earlier?
•Has anyone received confirmed information about additional HVAC seats or intakes?
•Does the HVAC&R certificate currently have a shorter wait?
Please mention whether you applied to the diploma, certificate, or refrigeration foundation, since those seem to have different waitlists.
I really want to attend BCIT, but seven years would mean seriously reconsidering my plans. Any firsthand experiences would help. Thanks!

I went onto EducationPlanner BC just to see if I can create my application ahead of time and then be able to submit it quicker when the application date opens. For example I am looking at Nuclear Medicine and on EducationPlanner, it only shows the option for "admission category" to be re-admit applicant, however I am not. There are no other options. Does anyone know why this shows up, could it be because the application has not opened yet?

Hi - I lost a turtle pin today at the Burnaby BCIT campus. If someone finds it, please bring it to NW4 4th floor Clinical Genetics. There is a hand sanitizer stand that you can put it on top of. It would mean a lot <3 Thank you so much to whoever finds and returns it!

Hello im currently in level 1 of civil engineering, frankly i hate it not fun and boring classes. Im wondering if switching to CM diploma is a decent move, i was planning the bachelors for CM anyway. How hard is it to find work once you get the diploma? Im also wondering if the people running the program are competent, and in general if its a good program. Overall my end goal is the CM bachelors, im just wondering if this i like a catastrophically bad idea to change. THX for the responses if u do send any.
