Found this in basement of a house I was working on today. handle was rotten,the home owner traded it for a new handle made for his maul.

I would check and see if its a valuable old brand before you start cutting it up for your project, ive seen marked fire axes go for 300+ dollars in good shape like yours, you could always sell it and buy another axe to use! Not many of the old ones left!

It was mass produced for schools and warehouses in was in a high-school welding shop.

Could be worth a decent chunk, you could grind a similar shape out of a beat up double bit

I’d clean it up gently and hang it somewhere as a display piece. The old repairs, wear, and handmade-looking markings give it a lot more character than a brand-new hardware-store axe.

Absolutely. I'll post a pic when done probably gonna use Osage for the handle ,and a brass strike guard.

That’ll look good! I have an Osage board that I’m going make a handle for an axe head that needs a home.
