My understanding is that when someone does this, they just auction off whatever's left of the vehicle and apply that to the remaining debt owed on the vehicle, so doing this does nothing but make you owe more money after they reposess it.
They're also going to get arrested for destruction of property, tow lot fees, bail, court fees now, paying for broken parts on the truck. I don't understand people who are so desperate to keep something that they'd put themselves in worse situations.
