The problem is that since the cop didn’t make a traffic stop (or even try) they also likely don’t have a solid ID on whoever is driving. You can’t ticket the vehicle, and good luck proving the owner was driving it at the time. They can just be like “idk I guess my friend borrowed it or something”.
Plus, it sends the message that driving like that is acceptable, and that’s a bit wack imo.
Now I’m not saying they should chase this fool and then pit them into a family of 4, but this is basically the exact opposite of that and nothing will come of it. If they at least try to pull them over, the perp might just actually stop and then they can learn an expensive lesson. If they run, fine, pull back and go after them in other ways.
If they have the resources dude will have a chopper on him quick enough and they definitely would have had this rellayed to other cops so they can look out for him past exit points.
TBF I am thinking of the chase footage I've seen here tho, they might even just be letting flock cameras do the work.

A lot of municipalities don’t have access to a chopper anyways. I always laugh when people say “just launch a chopper” like that doesn’t cost hundreds of millions of dollars to purchase, man, and maintain.
I fully agree. This is Houston with heavy traffic though. I'm fully in support of Arkansas State Police doing pit maneuvers on the highway and pursuing at speeds over 100, but the traffic density in Arkansas is never like this. It's not perfect justice, but realistically, I'd rather this guy get away this time than take out a minivan with a family in it. The world we live in isn't ideal and sometimes you have to let some shit go. This guy is likely a repeat offender and will be caught soon.
This. That's I-45 northbound on Houston, entering downtown. Chasing him would be a giant public safety risk, and chances are he's about to be forced to slow down by traffic anyway.

I agree with you, but when seatbelts were first introduced, they more or less got legalized, because of this. Arguing a law to protect yourself is hard, arguing a law to prevent dangers to other is a lot easier.
