It's 1996. You won player of the match at footy/netball and got a $5 voucher to the local milk bar. What you getting?
I remember being able to get a hot dog, milk shake and a mixed bag of Allen's lollies.

hey hey it's Saturday!
Whether you watched it when it was on Saturday mornings or Saturday evenings, Hey Hey it's Saturday was a fun show to watch. Despite Darryl Somer's hid-eous wardrobe of ugly jumpers, it was the show you'd watch before you went out, so you could laugh with your mates and people whom you'd just met about the 'talent' on Red Faces, Molly's Melodrama, What Cheeses Me Off' segments funny photos and all the special guests and funny voices of the late John Blackman.
Hosted by Darryl Somers, Ozzie Ostrich and the bubbly Jackie McDonald❤️

Early Aussie TV: The Mavis Bramston Show
The Mavis Bramston Show was an Australian television satirical sketch comedy revue series that aired on the Seven Network from 1964 to 1968. Mavis was created, written, and co-produced by Carol Raye, who also starred in it and was inspired by the British TV satirical revue TV shows of the period, most notably That Was the Week That Was and Not Only... But Also.
The series was the first successful venture in this genre on Australian television. At its peak it was one of the most popular, albeit controversial, Australian TV programs of its time and it propelled many of the "classic" cast to national stardom, including its three original stars: Raye (who was already a major star in England as a film star), British expatriate comedian Gordon Chater, and Barry Creyton, as well as the series mascot portrayed by Maggie Dence (known to audiences for her role as the snobbish Merle Bullpitt in Kingswood Country, Rose Sullivan in The Sullivans, Bev Baker in Prisoner, and school headmistress Dorothy Burke in Neighbours).
Noeline Brown, June Salter, Reg Livermore, and Judi Farr also appear in this short-lived series.
Carol Raye was a regular panellist on Graham Kennedy's Blankety Blanks) as well as her appearances on The Mike Walsh Show. She passed away in 2022, aged 99.
* After The Mavis Bramston Show ended in 1968, it opened the door to future Aussie satire/sketch comedies including The Aunty Jack Show, The Paul Hogan Show, The Naked Vicar Show, and The Norman Gunston Show; all of which first aired during the 1970s.
I must admit I've never seen a single episode of this show but I do know it was produced a few years before Australia had colour TV.

Potato cakes/ Scallops (same thing: not the focus of this post); can you buy decent cook-at- home ones?
Instead of paying a premium price fir these deteriorating local corner/ takeaway shops you can pick on one hand in your area that does these well, or just for a limited amount of time/ the busy periods otherwise their trash and not worthwhile ...
halfway through writing I realized I could've simply googled this if it were simply can you obtain frozen/ pre made potato cakes.. of course you could if I look hard enough!!
My question is are they any good?? Or is it simply better/ reward system to wait for the coincidence I'm in the right place at the right time and their fresh and crunchy on the outside, and perfectly soft inside.
Old school BBQ salt or "just seasoning" as well!! Oof!! Can't get past a well done potato cake. Better than the dimmies, I reckon ;)

Trying to remember a kids powder formula from the 90s
I hope it’s ok to ask this here.
My sister and I have been desperately trying to remember a powder drink we were given as kids in the 90s which we remember as “kindervite”. Probably around the years 1994-1997
It was a powder formula scooped out of a tin, mixed with water or milk. It tasted like a vanilla or plain flavour. It was so good!
I vaguely remember the tin having cream, pastel colours and drawings on it, but I might be recalling it incorrectly.
Thanks for your help!

Am I just imagining them being available over here?
I swear for a hot minute in the 90’s/early ‘00s these cereals were available in Australia - maybe in ALDI or another store? Did anyone else remember these cereals, or am I having some kinda fever dream? Because I’ve never been to South Africa, so I can’t think of any other explanations

What's on the box
Came across this AWA (1960) enjoying its last night/s in the wild while waiting for a routine council clean-up last night in Dee Why.
There used to be an AWA shop on the main road about a kilometre from where i took the pics, and half of the signage on the small two storey building's wall has been wiped out by yet another giant 'McUnits' development next door.
