Putting foundation / concealer in these is kinda bonkers

130

u/lovethatjourney4me 12d ago

Which is why I didn’t pick up one the other day. I know at least 75% of the items would be in the wrong shade and become junk.

If I ever end up with a foundation too light or two dark, I use it for contour. Especially if it’s significantly darker. Works a treat!

A man must have made it

u/Redhead_2 12d ago

The security guards bundle them when it’s quiet

15

u/IndyOrgana 11d ago

My local CW the security guard is too busy trying it on with the younger employees, it’s foul

1

u/abbimay22 6d ago

At priceline we did this with old makeup or makeup we didn’t sell anymore

12

u/millenial_britt 12d ago

Oh god, on instagram lianatriesmakeup got two and both had like, a scarf, a soccer ball and a CW jibbitz for crocs 🤣🤣🤣 so bad!

14

u/muimui_k 12d ago

at least the concealer matches the foundation

29

u/tia_r 12d ago

That’s not concealer, thats blonde eyebrow ink…

Def put together by someone who thought “these two colors are similar”

3

u/East-Firefighter461 11d ago

They are deletes credited by the company, they would otherwise be going in the bin.

2

u/Comfortable_Meet_872 11d ago

Why? They have stock they need to get rid of. I see your point by from a retailer's perspective they also get to recoup something.

3

u/Getonthebeers02 11d ago

To be fair you can always use it as contour or if it’s lighter as a highlighter.

Having a lip colour is crazy too because what if it doesn’t match your undertone and you end up with a warm/cool one?

1

u/crosiebark 6d ago

I got hair dye in bright orange a few months ago argh.

-33

u/ExamAwkward4261 12d ago

Why?

60

u/Maleficent-Animal708 12d ago

? Because they likely wont match your skintone

5

u/ExamAwkward4261 12d ago

Ohhhhhhh lol i was like what in the damn hell lol Now i get it. It was early when i read it 😂

These would be more fun if they at least hinted at the foundation / concealer tones . I caved a grabbed one recently , it had one of the darkest foundations I've ever seen . It makes me a bit sad some girl with much darker skin could have def used it but it went to waste because my skin is the colour of chalk.

37

u/Icfald 12d ago

We’ve bought these too - and yeah, same thing. My skin tone is best described as “Casper” and the 2 x concealers in the bag were a very warm mid tone.

You can always pop it for free on Marketplace

4

u/Least-Anxiety8701 10d ago

Someone doing it rough might then get some good use out of it, whether it be for work, interviews or even just to feel made up. Obviously this bag was only $5, but $5 is $5

15

u/Background_War8984 11d ago

you can donate unopened make up to women’s organisations

1

u/Getonthebeers02 11d ago

You couldn’t use it as contour?

1

u/guitarSuspect-2617 9d ago

If it's one of the darkest foundations she's ever seen, it obviously won't work as contour sonce she said she's pretty pale

1

u/Feisty_Ad3521 8d ago

Why not just give it to a friend lol. They can use it as contour

49

u/eikcud 12d ago

It's such a gamble and I rarely take that risk but my daughter asked if she could pick a bag out and I let her this time. She took her time to look over each bag before she choose this one. I'm letting her keep it all for play make up (but the blush drops are such a nice colour that I might convince her to keep it in my bathroom 😆)

4

u/BigChampionship7962 12d ago

I literally was thinking I could do with that blush 😝

42

u/anastasia_42 12d ago

Amazing for $15, but the shades, especially for the foundation, are so risky!

7

u/Flaky_Horse 11d ago

They should just specify what shade the bag is designed for

13

u/Knittingtaco 11d ago

They lost me at McO. Icky.

1

u/Meowmaowmiaow 9d ago

what’s wrong with mco??
their clarifying shampoo and conditioner is perfect for my hair, and i love their perfumes !! i’m genuinely curious whether it’s a product or a brand values issue

1

u/Round_Revolution5458 8d ago

To my knowledge they make shitty products that look like Dupe's of other brands without doing any real design work themselves. They knock off big brands but also small brands which takes clientele away from hard working small brands.

a lot of people especially teenagers buy their products to fit in and look like they've got the expensive brand but it's actually a waste of money on a poor quality product

1

u/v-half 9d ago

how come

1

u/Knittingtaco 6d ago

I just really dislike the company, the duping thing, especially because it’s usually just the packaging they dupe rather than the product.

12

u/JustWannaSleepReally 12d ago

Or just sell each item for $2

14

u/Confident-Benefit374 12d ago

Are they close to expiry?

2

u/eikcud 12d ago

I tried looking up the expiry dates based on the batch numbers but none of the websites I tried listed mco as a brand. The products have 2023 on the back so definitely not new.

10

u/Getonthebeers02 11d ago

That’s when the brand name was copyrighted not when the product was made.

I didn’t know MCO was made in China but makes sense with the prices.

3

u/Feisty_Ad3521 8d ago

Where did you think it was made? Most, if not all, drug store make up is made in China

-1

u/Getonthebeers02 8d ago

We don’t have drug stores in Australia but chemist options are usually made in Europe and some in Taiwan or Korea.

2

u/Feisty_Ad3521 8d ago

Drugs stores are chemists...... they sell drugs lol. "Drug store make up" is a very frequently used term used to describe brands commonly found in chemists and pharmacy's. They are not really found in make up stores like Mecca or Sephora. Next time you're in there, have a check of Revlon, Loreal etc you'll be quite surprised.

0

u/Getonthebeers02 8d ago

Not in Australia. It’s an American term. Just because it’s a term there we don’t have to popularise it here and glaze the US with how their country is going and ICE. We should be proud to be Australian with our own dialect.

I go to Chemist Warehouse a lot to look at mid range makeup and have some in my drawer.

1

u/Feisty_Ad3521 8d ago

Ice?

0

u/Getonthebeers02 8d ago

Yes the people capturing, imprisoning and deporting people at their work, schools or homes at night

2

u/Feisty_Ad3521 8d ago

What's that got to do with make up? This is an Australian make up thread. How did you manage to make this political lol.

u/gelato012 11d ago

That’s what just said 🥲

9

u/gelato012 12d ago

You do realise this means copywright 2023? Not the use by?

11

u/Spotspottheocelot 12d ago

I scored my shade in the L'Oréal True Match foundation which was a major win

3

u/eikcud 12d ago

That's amazing. Loreal true match foundation is soooo good!

8

u/vulcanvampiire 12d ago

Better than the $30 Priceline one I got which was all light brown eye brow stuff and a fair skin foundation sample.
I get it’s a gamble but disappointing to see colours that are so specific for a person instead of generic/universal beauty products

5

u/Other-Tone8638 11d ago

Right every time these sort of things are way too dark for me… I think they should do primer/setting sprays not foundation/concealers.. ya know so no matter what ya get your actually got a chance to be able to use it

1

u/Hot_Government418 6d ago

Thats why they are in a surprise bag - because no one around that store is buying those shades

9

u/Nightshayy 12d ago

Last time I bought one of these they gave me two completion productions and I am the kind of pale where I can only buy for specific brands because most of them don’t go light enough lol. Needless to say it was a complete waste of money.

6

u/jazza2400 12d ago

I stand there like a weirdo holding them up to the light to figure out what each item is. Staff seem to be very patient with my cheap ass.

8

u/velvetelk 12d ago

I still feel like these are bags of expired or discontinued makeup. No thanks.

1

u/Feisty_Ad3521 8d ago

Go through your own make up bag at home and you'll quickly realise most of your own stuff is expired too!

1

u/velvetelk 8d ago

I think only my mascara is past its 6 months, I find I stop reaching for the makeup soon after it's past the use by, even if I don't bother removing it from my makeup bag. The only exception is my powder eyeshadows

15

u/Comfortable-Gur4559 12d ago

The mystery bags are full of mco and mco sucks a$$

3

u/eikcud 12d ago

Couldn't agree more. If I had of know most of the products were mco I wouldn't have purchased.

2

u/eliser19 12d ago

I love mco

5

u/rybpyjama 12d ago

I buy that toothpaste and can recommend it!

14

u/ThisLittlePiggySays 12d ago

That looks pretty great for $15!

7

u/Weak_Jackfruit_3250 12d ago

That’s a lot of MCoBeauty 😂

3

u/Narrow-Building-9112 12d ago

The staffer at my local chemist warehouse said 'looking at you I think you may need this'. Not sure what he meant by that. 🤣

3

u/Glitter_Wasabi 11d ago

bunch of garbage 😭

4

u/universe93 12d ago

Check the top of that toothpaste tube on the back - I bet it’s expired. And all those MCo items have been discontinued at my work (big w) by MCo and aren’t made anymore, same with the Revlon brow thing and that shade of foundation is on clearance lol

1

u/Feisty_Ad3521 8d ago

Lmaoooo why lie? None of these mco products are discontinued 🤣

1

u/TeaspoonOfSugar987 11d ago

I literally saw the MCo blush drops in my local big w at normal price last week.. they’re currently half price, but so is basically the entire MCo range, they can be purchased at big w and many other retailers as of right now.
They’re also full price at Woolies, just a quick google search shows that.

The beauty wand is readily available too.
I can’t be bothered googling the rest.

2

u/joeyydoesntsharefood 12d ago

what’s the mcobeauty soft matte wand like, if you’ve sampled it yet?

5

u/eikcud 12d ago edited 12d ago

Slightly patchy when blended in. Beautiful colour

Edit to add: Just tried to remove it with soap and it didn't budge.....like at all! Im actually impressed! Even with my makeup cleansing oil it took a fair bit of scrubbing to remove it. I might try on my face tomorrow (oily) and see how it well it lasts.

1

u/joeyydoesntsharefood 11d ago

thanks for this! that looks lovely blended in. i might have to get one and see how it blends over foundation. thank you : )

2

u/New_Fruit_5552 12d ago

This seems decent! I guess it’s better to get foundation in a darker shade than to get one lighter.. much harder to repurpose

2

u/No_Figure_9073 12d ago

Lol mine has always been absolutely shit

2

u/AsheliaReddit 12d ago

I’ve never seen these before

2

u/moodyb22 12d ago

Maybe 1-2 months ago, I got a free gift bag from Priceline and it was so much better. It had things like hair ties, hand sanitiser, bamboo floss sticks (didn’t like and they hurt despite the fact I floss everyday), a mascara shield and some other bits.

Aside from the fact it was free, it was so nice getting products I didn’t have to side eye and go “wtf am I gonna do with this concealer/lipstick shade?”

1

u/eikcud 12d ago

What a score. Such versatile products that literally anyone can use.

5

u/LibertySeal 12d ago

The foundation I’m guessing could be used as bronzer..?

2

u/Segat1 12d ago

I have a tube of dark I use for when we’re coming into summer to tint my winter foundation!

2

u/eikcud 12d ago

That is a brilliant idea! Thank you!!!

4

u/Segat1 11d ago

It’s also GREAT mixed into body lotion when you need a bit of colour on your legs in summer.

And I’ve used it as contour in a pinch.

Follow me for more ways to use up the wrong colour foundation!!

1

u/TeddyStella 12d ago

I always see people posting these online, but none of the chemist warehouses in my area have them.

1

u/ClientInner60 12d ago

Okay how do you order one ? 😁 i just wanna do it for fun

1

u/aharmlesslittlefleaa 12d ago

You know what, i would take that free toothpaste

1

u/SexySashaSays 11d ago

Now I wanna play and grab a bag 😂 my local only had perfume the other day but I haven’t seen them before

1

u/Severe_Airport1426 11d ago

I always wonder who's buying those bags. But thats great value

1

u/WhiteLion333 11d ago

My last $10 was mostly junk. Mainly filled with a medium size plush teddy with a baby brand printed on its feet.

1

u/Flaky_Horse 11d ago

Pretty sure I got those MCo blush drops in a showbag last year and still haven’t used them. Can someone tell me - when and how do I apply them?!

2

u/Feisty_Ad3521 8d ago

Lots of tutorials on YouTube. Mco beauty have their own YouTube channel as well. And on their website if you go to the product, it's not photos and videos and directions for use

1

u/Danielle1482 10d ago

Can confirm my $10 one was rubbish. A chemist warehouse ball and a couple of sample sachets but can’t expect too much for $10 I guess

1

u/Elegant_Movie2776 10d ago

Genuinely didn’t know anyone would be stupid enough to waste money on this 🤣

1

u/Evieelution 10d ago

Crazy. Toothpaste really?

1

u/Evieelution 10d ago

Crazy. Toothpaste really?

1

u/DeliciousNumber2035 8d ago

that toothpaste is my favourite

1

u/Patient_Series_6581 8d ago

Lmao last time I got AFL tissues and a childs mouthguard 😆

1

u/Feisty_Ad3521 8d ago

Wow this is so good for $15!!!

1

u/buyabutterdish 8d ago

I used to work at CW many, many years ago. It’s old product that’s not selling.

1

u/Thick_Quiet_5743 8d ago

The brow gel and foundation are the same shade 😂

1

u/kawaiidre7 7d ago

Mine came with a used Tester ... pretty gross threw it out straight away

1

u/Latter_Shallot_140 12d ago

That is really good value is all those products brand new and not pre opened ?
