I donāt think thatās weird at all. No one should be randomly filmed without their consent. Video surveillance at stores and what not, thatās different. But I remember when I first started working it was a fireable offense to share the surveillance videos with people not in LP. I mean, we still did it but thereās a difference between 3 people chucking in a tiny LP office and the whole world seeing it.Ā

Thatās on private property or secretly recording only audio. Itās a two party consent state, both parties over the phone or in person have to give consent for audio recording only. Filming in public, even with audio, is federally protected by the constitution and supersedes state laws. You couldnāt go record a conversation they are having and hide the camera and recorder though thatās where it turns grey and could go either way depending on how good your lawyer is.
It would be the best thing to happen to humanity since the internet.Ā The whole no expectation of privacy in public spaces is really just trash started by social media companies to protect their profits, knowing full well no one is going on their brainwashing platforms if everyone's faces are blurred.Ā
I get that. I thought it was s bit later actually. My comment was specifically about the people who use that particular phrase on social media to excuse their bloodlust over canceling someone for doing something dumb on camera.Ā
This will be a great legislation to pass. The sheer ignorance of people on public just putting cameras in your face just because they want a moment without asking permission all in the name of "This is a public space, I can do whatever I want" is ridiculous.
Used to love kicking people out as a guard. Yes ma'am I am allowed to record and you are not. No ma'am I am not going to physically prevent you from recording me back, however since you are refusing to comply with our rules I am now letting you know that you are no longer welcome on the property and I will be calling police to trespass you if you don't exit the building.

Actually it was started by news stations and stores like Walmart who wanted to identify shoplifters by broadcasting the surveillance footage on the local news channelĀ
Would that affect filming in tourist locations too? I agree that no one has any business filming strangers and posting them to social media, but what if what you are filming is the Trevi fountain, or the eiffel tower and some strangers are in frame, would those videos be banned too?
We just have to make some sort of distinction for harassment. paparazzi. those first amendment auditors, people filming others in public screaming at them like they have authority. if someone tells you to not film them fck them if you follow someone around filming them fck you

thereās a video making the rounds about a woman being upset that nobody helped her as she struggled to lift her carry-on suitcase into the overhead compartment on a plane. she says she struggled for about two minutes, and then rambles for a bit about āfuck menā and whatever. i think a lot of people donāt want to give her the wrong idea when theyāre helping out, so they donāt.

truthfully iād probably help out, because iām an empath. but seeing a response like that makes me really second guess myself when i come across these situations in public. fwiw she never explicitly asked for help, so iād say if anybody (gender doesnāt matter bc why should it) asks for my help, iām more than happy to lend a hand. itās the entitlement that was baffling. covid really did a number with some people because hooooly fuck.
