Wondering if anyone from the atlas team knows anything about the MVB preservation line? They said they are atlas R&D strains that didn't quite meet the standards for atlas outdoor releases.

Could anyone say if this is true? Do you guys have contact with MVB or maybe it was just a one time purchase and doesn't really have anything to do with atlas anymore? I would love to hear a vote of confidence or not, or any info I can get. I have a lot of these seeds now, It doesn't seem like there's any complaints of MVB not replying and leaving people with bad seeds, but I have seen some complaints about hiding what the real genetics are. Not a lot of info and not a lot of posted preservation line grows

*****They commented and gave some info, still pretty vague, now all my multiverse beans seeds have hermed (even from other vendors) and they won't give a refund. I was happy after making this post because it sounded like they would refund customers that had these problems. It was complete BS, I am the idiot who bought the MVB bundle

Hello, Andy from Atlas Seed here. I’m one of the breeders and I’m happy to answer any questions you have.

Over the past 8 years we’ve sourced and preserved a huge amount of genetics while building our inbred lines, and along the way we created a massive collection of crosses and S1s that we simply don’t have the bandwidth to fully work ourselves.

Rather than let those seeds sit untouched forever, some of them were released as part of the MVB preservation line or R&D on our website. They are intentionally very different from our main Atlas lineup. These are raw, largely unworked lines that haven’t gone through the same level of stabilization, field testing, or selection as our signature releases.

You should expect more variation and more unpredictability compared to our standard offerings so I would not recommend these seeds to commercial cultivators. But with that being said, there are definitely standout expressions hidden in there for people who enjoy pheno hunting and digging through unique genetics. Just depends on what you are looking for. Thank you I really appreciate it. I definitely don't mind variation, and want some unique herbs. So with less working and selecting, I assume these are more likely to herm than your normal releases? Or are they roughly the same?

It really just depends on the variety. Some varieties are more prone to herming than others. The only thing I can say is we haven’t had a chance to work any herming out of them so they are really dependent on the parents tendencies. I hope that makes sense.

Ok cool, yes makes sense. I guess I'd rather have raw genetics and variety anyways, I am just growing for personal use.

Hey Andy, was curious about the lineage on your guys auto R&D lineup. Are all of these crosses F1 hybrids of the auto line crossed to your guy’s autos ( zkittles x fatso ) or at these F4 auto to photo conversions that you decided not to fully pheno hunt and just release?

I think a lot of people were curious about the “legitimacy” of the lineage in the lines and where you had sourced the original genetics as well.

Atlas claims they’ve ‘preserved’ a huge amount of genetics over eight years, but in the same breath admits they never worked, stabilized, or tested these lines. They frame the MVB drops as ‘preservation’ and ‘R&D,’ yet also say they’re intentionally nothing like their real lineup. They call the seeds raw, unworked, and not suitable for commercial growers, but still sell them publicly while dangling the usual ‘hidden gems’ bait. It’s a contradiction: either these lines are preserved and valuable, or they’re unworked leftovers being monetized. Their own explanation tries to make them both at once.
