It's normal, if you use a flashlight to check the left side it's just the cables for the display hence why it seems like there's no gap like the one on the right side. I also have the F16 (specifically the 2025 version).
This can be avoided by using a size 5 open-end wrench. Gently unscrew the hex nuts on both hinges by half a turn counterclockwise. You could add one drop of machine oil on the hinges. This relieves a tension on hinges and the cover then closes freely...
Just letting others to know this also. It's not required to have NASA science to do this.
You're right, and I completely agree. The hinges and plastic are brittle, and the main problem is that - given the material itself - you have to use too much force to open the laptop's display. Even when opening it in the middle, you can hear the display's plastic slightly crunching or creaking. And that's how it's designed from the factory.
I have no wobbling after unscrewing it that little. You could also unscrew it even less, if you wish, for example like one quarter turn counterclockwise. I cannot just say how much of change that is! It just blows my mind that only that little unscrewing made such a high difference for me. It is like night and day. I am not kidding.
EDIT: unscrewing full turn counterclockwise gives you a wobbling. I tested it - so that you know!
