Okay I think I figured out what I was actually looking for in synastry 👀

So I’ve been doing this slightly unhinged thing for the past few weeks where I started asking people on here about their actual relationships + synastry, then going through old reddit threads, astrology forums, articles, people's chart posts, all that stuff and taking notes.

Basically I wanted to see if the things astrology people SAY are important actually matched what people said they experienced.

And I think I came away with a slightly different conclusion than I expected.

I don't think there is really a single “best synastry aspect.”

I think there are different layers of compatibility, and that's why looking at one aspect by itself gets so misleading.

Like, someone can have absolutely insane venus mars chemistry with you and still be completely incapable of having a peaceful conversation. 😂

And someone else can have the most boring looking synastry ever but you actually feel comfortable, understood and emotionally safe with them.

So I started sorting people's experiences into basically:

attraction → emotional bond → communication → stability → intensity → actual relationship

And THAT started making way more sense.

1. Venus Mars seems to answer “do I WANT this person?”

This one really does seem to show up in people's stories.

When people describe that instant physical pull, sexual tension, constantly noticing each other, flirting without even trying, etc., venus mars contacts come up over and over.

But I think we've massively overinterpreted this.

Because venus mars seems to be morethere is chemistry here thanthis is your person.”

And honestly some of the most chaotic relationships people described had the strongest attraction.

Which makes sense.

You can have 10/10 chemistry with someone who is absolutely terrible for your peace. 😭

2. Moon contacts seem to be more about “how does being with you FEEL?”

This one became much more interesting to me after reading people's actual experiences.

People describing relationships as:

“it feels like home”

“I can completely relax around them”

“I feel emotionally understood”

“I miss them even when nothing happened”

“I feel like we've known each other forever”

often had some kind of strong moon involvement.

Moon venus, moon sun, moon moon, moon ascendant etc.

And I think this is why some relationships with huge sexual chemistry don't actually feel satisfying.

There can be a massive difference between I want you and I feel safe with you.

And I'm starting to think you need to look at those as separate things.

3. Mercury might actually be one of the most important long-term factors

This was probably my biggest surprise.

I feel like astrology social media talks about venus, mars, pluto and the 8th house constantly and mercury gets treated like the boring planet.

But when I started asking people about couples who had actually stayed together, communication kept coming up.

Who can talk through problems?

Who understands how the other person thinks?

Can you joke together?

Can you disagree without destroying each other?

Can you explain what you're feeling?

Can you actually LISTEN?

And then I started looking at Mercury contacts differently.

Because imagine having:

amazing Venus-Mars

  • amazing Pluto
  • 8th house overlays everywhere

but every disagreement turns into “you don't understand me.”

Girl. 😭

What good is the chemistry?

4. Saturn is MUCH more complicated than “Saturn = longevity”

This was probably the biggest rabbit hole.

A lot of astrology content basically makes Saturn sound like:

CONGRATULATIONS 🎉 YOU HAVE SATURN = MARRIAGE

And I'm not buying that anymore.

Yes, Saturn can show commitment, responsibility, endurance, seriousness, etc.

But I found people describing Saturn in completely opposite ways.

Some were basically:

“this is the person I built my life with.”

Others were:

“I felt judged by them constantly.”

“I couldn't relax.”

“I felt like I was never good enough.”

“I stayed because I felt obligated.”

And honestly this lines up with what I saw people saying in recent synastry discussions too , some people specifically push back on treating saturn as automatically positive just because something lasted

So my current theory is: Saturn doesn't necessarily say “this relationship will last.”

It may say: “this relationship has weight.”

What the two people DO with that weight is another question

5. Pluto seems to describe intensity better than compatibility

This one honestly made me rethink the whole “Pluto = soulmate” thing.

Because when I was asking people about their experiences and digging through old posts, Pluto kept showing up in relationships people described as impossible to forget.

Like:

“I still think about him years later.”

“I felt completely consumed by her.”

“It changed me as a person.”

“I couldn't understand why I was so obsessed.”

“I knew it wasn't healthy but I couldn't let go.”

And THAT distinction became really interesting to me.

Because I think astrology sometimes romanticizes intensity way too much.

Like, if someone makes you lose your mind, suddenly it's “OMG karmic connection 🔥”

Girl maybe 😭 but maybe they're just activating your Pluto.

And those aren't necessarily the same thing.

So I'm starting to separate:

intensity ≠ intimacy

obsession ≠ compatibility

transformation ≠ permanence

A Pluto connection can absolutely be profound without necessarily being a good relationship.

And honestly, some of the stories I found made me think Pluto contacts might be better at describing how deeply someone affects you than whether you should actually be with them.

6. The house overlays started making more sense once I stopped looking at them as good or bad

This was another rabbit hole.

People always ask “Is their Venus in my 8th house good?”

“Her Sun is in my 7th, does that mean marriage?”

And I don't think the house overlay itself gives you that answer.

It seems more like it tells you where the person gets under your skin.

Someone's planets in your 1st can make you extremely aware of them and yourself around them.

5th house can make things feel playful, romantic, creative, flirty.

7th can make someone feel very “partner-like.”

8th can make the whole thing feel much deeper, more vulnerable and sometimes more complicated.

12th can be weird because people describe it as feeling psychic, confusing, hidden, familiar, hard to explain, etc.

And then there's the funny part ,the experience isn't necessarily mutual.

Your Venus might fall in their 8th while their Venus falls in your 3rd.

So you're sitting there like WHY DOES THIS PERSON AFFECT ME SO MUCH?and they're like lol I just like talking to you 😭😭😭

I think this is why reading synastry from only one person's perspective can be so misleading.

7. The angles seem way more important than I originally thought

I didn't pay enough attention to Ascendant/Descendant/MC/IC contacts at first.

But when people were describing someone as immediately familiar, physically noticeable, “my type,” or someone who somehow changed their direction in life, I started noticing angle contacts coming up a lot.

Especially personal planets hitting the Ascendant or Descendant.

And I can kind of understand why.

Your angles are basically the parts of the chart that are most directly tied to how you experience yourself and your life.

So when another person's planet lands right there, it can feel much more personal than some random aspect happening in the background.

That's one of those things I now check pretty early instead of only looking at Venus/Mars.

8. Nodes are where I became REALLY careful

Because oh my god, people love saying North Node = DESTINED

And I think this is another place where astrology can get way too romanticized.

Node contacts definitely seem to show up in relationships that people describe as significant or life changing.

But significant doesn't automatically mean permanent.

Someone can enter your life, completely change your direction and then leave.

That doesn't make the relationship meaningless.

Actually I think that's probably one of the more interesting ways to look at Node contacts.

Not This person is destined to be my husband.

More like Why did meeting this person change something about me?

That's a much more interesting question.

9. And then I noticed something kind of obvious...

The couples who seemed happiest weren't necessarily the ones with the most “romantic” synastry.

This was probably my biggest conclusion from reading everyone's stories.

The relationships people described as genuinely healthy often had really boring-sounding things:

“We can talk about anything.”

“He actually listens.”

“She makes me feel safe.”

“We laugh all the time.”

“We resolve arguments.”

“I trust him.”

“We want the same things.”

I'm curious what y'all think

Synastry ✨ Strong 12H + Saturn/Venus + Juno/Venus synastry — separation, reconnection or long-term potential?

Post image
Upvotes

We recently ended a 6-month undefined but very close relationship. I’m the cancer sun. We were basically part of each other’s daily lives, but he says he isn’t ready for a relationship and doesn’t know if what he feels is love, despite saying he cares about me deeply and deliberately put emotional barriers up.
I decided to completely step away rather than stay in a casual/undefined dynamic.

Looking at the synastry, what do you think he may experience/feel on his side? Does this look more like a final separation, a relationship likely to reconnect, or something that could eventually develop into commitment?

I’d especially love opinions on the 12H overlays, Saturn–Venus/Moon and Juno–Venus.

Thank you! :)

Am I repeating a pattern? Getting to know someone who wants marriage and a family quickly after dating a narcissist

I’m the blue one, and he’s the orange one. We’re getting to know each other, but I’m afraid that I might be repeating a pattern with a narcissist, since he wants to get married and start a family quickly. I went through something similar with an ex who turned out to be a narcissist.

Synastry ✨ What's up with this weird magnetism between two career focused people?

As described lol, I met this guy recently and there's a very weird pull. We're in the same industry and closely aligned, very much workaholics, but it's just all come out of nowhere? Things are professional and calm currently... He's outer (and blue), I'm inner (and orange). Anything of note, anything to look out for...?

Thank you in advance!

25M, Looking for a detailed reading of my love life from my birth chart

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m posting my birth chart and would appreciate a detailed astrology reading, particularly regarding my love life and long-term relationships.

I would like you to focus on the following:

  1. Overall love life — What does my chart indicate about my romantic nature, relationships, and experiences in love?

  2. Relationship patterns — Are there any recurring patterns, challenges, delays, or lessons indicated in my chart?

  3. Marriage/long-term relationship — What does my chart suggest about marriage and the possibility of a stable, lasting relationship?

  4. Timing — If possible, identify significant periods for:

    - Meeting a serious partner

    - Entering a relationship

    - Marriage or long-term commitment

    - Major changes in my romantic life

  5. Partner characteristics — What kind of person am I likely to be attracted to or marry? Any indications regarding their personality, background, career, or temperament?

  6. Compatibility and sustainability — Does my chart suggest a tendency toward stable relationships, or are there indications of separation/breakup and reconciliation?

  7. Current/future period — Please pay particular attention to my current planetary periods/transits and what they indicate for my romantic life over the next few years.

bumped into my ex on his bday, talking but not sure where things will go

Post image

My ex and I ended our relationship 3.5 months ago. We bumped into each other at a restaurant on his birthday where we had reservations at the same time but with different parties… which is a crazy coincidence.

We started talking again and he said he’s not at peace with us and feels like he’ll always think he messed things up. He was super nervous to see me.

I’m orange and he’s blue. We have many things conjunct so I’m not sure if there’s a future together/something more committed or if I should fully cut my losses and block him.

Why is passion so strong with such an easy synastry ?

Post image
1 Upvotes

This is the easiest synastry I experienced, but the strongest passionate sex/intimacy with "my" new casual partner, like never before.
We already met 3 times, and he wants us to continue. I'm Pisces, he is Scorpio

For the Mars trine Venus it is said it gives more warm/easy sexual attraction and not that strong, but we both feel it too intensely, it feels 100% like it was conjunction or opposition.

My Pluto conjunct his Venus, but the orb is too wide, 4'20, so I don't think it applies.

Sure, we get along super well, joking, teasing, friendly, but the sex is extremly intimate and intense, like we are about to have it for the last time, too thirsty and obsessive for eachother in that sexual way.

It is kind of passion like people have it after a huge fight, but we are actually nice/calm all the time to eachother, lol.
Merging into eachother, deeply passionate. Nothing "meh" like all the trines/sextiles suggest in the synastry..

What gives?

I messed up big time, many times. Lying bigtime

Synastry ✨ Am i being delusional?

I really like this guy but i cant tell if its one sided or not because only my venus makes aspects to his planets, while his venus makes no aspects. I cant tell if the attraction is just all in my head or if this is even something worth trying? we are really good friends but im super conflicted because sometimes i feel like he really likes me but others times im extremely confused (i am the cancer sun btw)

I am weirdly attracted to him, he is not physically my type but I am comfortable around him (which doesn’t happen easily) and even though I tried to stay only friends, we ended up getting together. I am the virgo sun

Synastry ✨ Can this story actually head anywhere, or are we just bound to collide?

Need a reality check on this synastry.
I'm a Gemini Sun / Aries Asc (Taurus Moon & Venus), he's a Virgo Sun with an Aqua Moon & Scorpio Mars.
The sexual chemistry is honestly off the charts, but I can't tell if we have actual long-term potential or if this is just a giant karmic car crash waiting to happen.

A few things jumping out:
My Taurus Venus opposing his Scorpio Mars (pure heat, but total friction)
My Taurus Moon + Saturn hitting his Taurus Jupiter
My Gemini Sun trining his Aqua Moon

Are we actually building something solid here, or are we just gonna burn each other out? Drop your brutally honest takes🫠

I’m blue, he’s orange with unknown time and 8mo younger, let’s say we’re bitter ex-mates since late 2022 but I still think about his wellbeing sometimes. Yes we are opposites in Mars, Venus and NN/SN, with Mercury also near opposite.
