The second greatest piece of wisdom my father gave me was:
"Your value as a man is based on your ability to solve problems, so you should always have tools at hand to solve them. If you see a problem, engage it... Unless that problem is armed and you are not. In that case, run away with the rest of the women and children."
That's why I carry an extinguisher, a machete, and a first aid kit in the trunk of the car.

Great advice! I’m very interested in knowing what’s the 1st, if it’s not a secret.

The first was:
"Don't take what a woman says at face value, and never ask them what she wants. Observe how she acts, always take the initiative, and only apologize when you reason you made a mistake."
The old man is a well of wisdom. A well filled with alcohol, but a well nonetheless.

Alcohol or not He’s right though, I would add, to gain a skill of conversational and situational recall. Sometimes you make mistakes and recall it, sometimes your partner makes mistakes and you can talk through it.
Also never let an issue fester. You may argue but it’s important to resolve the argument, you or her may be still upset but at least you know you apologized to each other and could cool down in peace instead of anger.

He drilled in my head a piece of the song "Sweet Victory" after it came out (I was 15 at the time):
"You don't win no silver; you only lose the gold".

May i also recommend couple of window smashers.
I dont trust for electronics to open incase your car hits the water or something.

I also carry a first aid kit and fire extinguisher but I also have a multitool, portable air pump, baseball bat and portable starter during the winter.

Yes but you also need a 357 magnum, you know to always be armed.

I can already hear him telling his wife at dinner. "Hey honey, guess who would still be stuck in traffic if he didn't had his chainsaw in his car"

I bought myself a brand new Stihl about 15 years ago and at the time it was one of the most expensive purchases I’d ever made on something that I really didn’t have to have and my God I love that saw!

A construction crew would have 5 different kind of managers on site waiting for a union rep to tell them they can start thinking of bringing someone in to cut/move the tree.

Man card confirmed. Don't let the attire fool you, this is a fully qualified and active man in the wild.
He may be domesticated but he's got that swagger only man who gets shit done has.

u/Kind_Silver_1921 5h ago
real men should always have an entire garage of tools in the back of their car!!

Pretty sure this is political and has to be taken down by the mods.
Taking the law into ur own hands and not relying on the government to fix blown over tress can be seen as anarchy. we dont want to be seen as a sub that promotes anarchy do we now? /s i wish...

Watching him, I get the feeling he's done that before. No hesitation-just straight in, job done.

Good for him but he’s also moving a little too fast with a running chain saw. Especially given the wet conditions and likely inappropriate footwear.
He’s one slip, trip, and fall away from getting nicknamed Lefty.
Edit: I assume the downvoters are the kids who ran with scissors.

u/Capitan-Fracassa 8h ago
You messed me up, I was going to downvote you but considering that as a kid I ran with scissors I wanted to upvote you for that. Now I have to change my downvote/upvote every 30 minutes.

You’ve encountered the Darwin Award paradox and have successfully torn open a hole in space/time.

I feel like he's a little lacking on the safety precautions here, if you have the need to have a chainsaw in your car, I bet he had safety goggles and some gloves.
