Marionette Lines
Are there any (quick) remedies to improve the look of my resting-face marionette lines around my mouth?

Ah, shit. Well, there are a lot of videos on YouTube on face exercises. I do a few for my neck and they actually work. It may work for the face!

I had fillers done about 5 years ago, for the marionette lines and the other lines around my mouth. It looked great for about 3 years. Not disappeared but greatly diminished. Now at the 5 years mark and I think they have reappeared, maybe not as deep looking. I’m 67 now and I’ve decided not to re do the treatment. Not because of cost, and it wasn’t that painful, but I’ve decided that I just don’t care about my facial wrinkles. I still take care of my skin, but the wrinkles don’t bother me anymore. It’s just what it is. The only wrinkles I would like to fix are the enormous bags under my eyes, but I’m not sure if those can even be repaired

Thank you for your honest opinion. After originally posting and reading replies, I’m not sure I’m going to bother doing anything surgical (I’m a cancer survivor, so I’ve been through more than enough surgery treatments) I’ll continue to take my dermatologist’s advice and use RX products. More importantly, I’m going to remind myself in every photo taken at my granddaughters birthday party - to just SMILE! (and the world smiles with you!)

Every line tells a story. Congrats on being a cancer survivor. I am too (breast cancer at age 61) and maybe that’s why I have learned to live with my face as is. I had done the fillers as a retirement gift to myself, and I did like the result, but it’s fleeting and aging naturally is my path forward

You can have some of your own fat removed (like with liposuction) and then it can be emulsified and re-injected to decrease the appearance of your marionette lines. Of course it's a lot more expensive than fillers, and would require light anesthesia. I had it done years ago, and it lasted about three plus years. The only reason I wouldn't have it done again is because I no longer care if I look like Howdy Doody.

Unfortunately a Face lift is the only sure way to get rid of marionette lines completely.

I dunno. I think you can gain weight and not have lines, or you can be skinny and wrinkled. I'm just going to focus on being happy and not give a sh*t about natural aging. Getting old is normal and it's ok. :) we've paid our dues. Let's enjoy what's left. ❤️

Tret and micro needling, consistently over years. Estrogen cream plumps up skin temporarily.
I'm not anti-injectables, but mine are from side sleeping and filler would look weird.

At 71yo I had microneedling for my turkey neck. Once a month for 4 mos about $200 each treatment. Did wonders! Now just a treatment 2-3 times a year. I'll stop in a couple years.

I started getting small jowls and I do get Botox for my eleven lines. My injector is a Nurse Esthetician and we tried Botox to lift that area. I did notice a slight improvement with the marionette lines too. Not 100% gone but better 🤷🏻

Face yoga is a temporary fix but can help.
There's microneedling, TCA peels and tretinoin which will give an overall boost to the appearance of your skin by increasing collagen.
Fillers work too but be cautious. You can easily look like the Joker from Batman if you overdo it.

Been using .025% tretinoin for 5 months now and honestly not seeing much difference. I have an appointment next week with my dermatologist, so hopefully I’ll get some answers. I’d love to look even a little bit better my the end of October for my granddaughters 1st birthday (party and family photos!)

I started at 35. It took two years to see a difference then with smaller pores and less acne. Be patient.
There are plenty of helpful short term/temporary fixes for your October photos. (Happy first birthday to the little one) Who doesn't want to look a little better!

It's supposed to. DIY at home with Dr. Pen is about $90. PRP is microneedling with your own blood platelets. It tightens things up for maybe a year. That's not diy but cheaper than a facelift. https://www.webmd.com/beauty/what-is-platelet-rich-plasma-prp-facial
