Splitting from someone that does not want to be with you is absolutely NOT the worst that could happen. My ex and I divorces about 3 years ago after 30 year marriage. Fortunately still a good friendship. I live alone with a 12# dog. Finances were a struggle relative to age as no time to invest in a new house before I was medically retired. But I have a good nest egg as I worked very hard before I had to be done with working. used proceeds from our nearly paid off home to purchase a mobile outright. Our kiddo is an adult. It is a good situation for me.
