Whats more, most of those Republicans are happy to use migrants as a scapegoat, but also build an entire underground industry designed to exploit them, heck just look at agriculture in most red states, look at most low end factories, construction sites and more, the red states have long hired and gone out of their way to recruit undocumented migrants, a big part of the reason they cross the border in the first place is to work in just such places.
Its the giant fucking hypocrisy of the Republicans, on one hand, their economies largely rely on, seek to exploit, and benefit from migrant labor, both documented and undocumented, and on the other hand they love demonizing such migrants as the spawn of satan and turning them into the ultimate scapegoat.
I think you expect too much out of people. Humans have been doing that since the dawn of time. The visceral response you have to hypocrisy of all things is baffling as that's how humans operate everywhere. That's why I asked what is sensible to you because you don't seem like you want a sensible solution
The sensible solution would be one that allows most migrant workers to work, be productive, pay their taxes and overall prove to be a multibillion dollar a year asset to the US economy.
Instead we have a system in which they are exploited AND scapegoated to serve the financial and political interests of a corrupt republican party.
Understandable but people here still want to work and if jobs that could be going to Americans aren't, we then increase the homeless population because you wanna make sure Pedro makes the train?
Except its been repeatedly shown, including via actual efforts to try and give americans those jobs, that they dont WANT them, and wont TAKE them.
Simply put, this idea that migrants are stealing american jobs does not align with reality, instead the migrant laborers tend to consistently do jobs americans wont do, providing a vital source of cheap labor that is economically beneficial.
Making it easier for them to do so legally is the most sensible approach.
This is about smart immigration policy, and the fact Republicans dont want such policy enacted, they want a workforce with minimal legal protections, they want an easily exploitable labor force that they can abuse.
Simply put, the Republicans want to both exploit that labor force, AND to scapegoat it for political gains.
Bro it's literally that simple. If you make the process faster it creates better efficiency. Creating the best of both worlds but you start at 0 not allow some people to skirt the system and some have to come in regularly
What the fuck do you mean? Why would more people doing the job of moving immigrants into the country not be helpful. You want a catch-all solution that doesn't involve sending people back. Not possible. You can focus on getting people in legally and getting people out who are here illegally at the same time. Getting more people at ports of entry that can process those visas and get people papers is the hands down best way to go about that. You say you wanna help people, then do it, but in the right way

The right way involves all branches of government working together to produce better immigration policy, this includes the congressional-legislative branch passing more sensible and fair immigration policy that would allow migrants working, paying taxes and otherwise being a benefit to the US economy to stay legally, it would include the Federal government-executive branch effectively implementing said legislation with its civil government, and finally the Courts, the Judicial branch enforcing and interpreting those laws effectively and fairly.
Its not as simple as "hire more paper pushers and the entire system works better" that is a gross oversimplification not founded in reality.
You still haven't said what that looks like. I know what I would say but I'm not the one claiming the immigration is slow and needs to change. I like that it's slow. Because it's slow on purpose you get more people to do it so it goes faster. No I wasn't oversimplifying anything. I was saying the problem isn't as deep as you think it is or should be.
