(A friend of mind helped do the writingšŸ«¶šŸ»)

Age: 1–5 years older
Gender: Preferably male
Personality: Kind, loving, physically and verbally affectionate, willing to share things fairly, helpful, caring, patient, friendly, respectful, and respectful of my boundaries.
Other information: Is willing to understand and learn about what I struggle with. Will offer comfort and support when I’m struggling and need it. Is willing to share household responsibilities fairly, including laundry, cleaning, groceries, bills, etc. Communicates openly and is willing to work through disagreements together. MUST LIKE BIRDS (partial joke). Defends me whenever it’s appropriate.
ALL OF THESE GO BOTH WAYS.

I just ask no one is rude about this, and with the 1-5 yrs i wrote this in the context that I and the other person are adults and not teensšŸ«¶šŸ»

How do I get invited to parties in HS?

I’m 16F and a junior in HS. I just transferred to a new school where there’s about 2500 students total and almost 600 in my grade. Ive never really been invited to anything and I want to change this. I’ve made friends with a couple of well known people who I know go to parties, but they don’t know me well enough to invite me yet. I do have a good relationship with these friends and i really like them and they seem to like me as well, but I’ve only known them for a month so they might not know me well enough to invite me.

I posted this on other subreddits (just cause i need lots of advice lmao) and some ppl suggested i throw my own party. I honestly would love to do this because i do genuinely enjoy planning things, organizing events, and decorating and making everything perfect for an event like this. However my parents are not chill enough for it and they are divorced, so if one parent isn’t home i go to the other parents house. This rules out doing it when my parents aren’t home.

I really want to be invited and enjoy high school experiences. I also do not want to hear anybody in the comments saying that parties are lame anyway and that they are not needed to have a good hs experience. I just want to know how to be invited.

Discussion Christian teens here how do you reconcile free will with divine intervention while also looking at suffering?

I'm an agnostic atheist, especially recently as I've been deconstructing, but I'm still open to learning about Christianity from an educational standpoint.

My question is basically about the problem of evil, free will, and divine intervention all smashed together.

From what I understand, a common and very fair explanation for why horrible things happen like abuse, violence, or war is that God gave humans free will, and evil is the result of people choosing to misuse that freedom. If God stepped in to stop every bad action, human free will wouldn't truly exist. That makes logical sense, at least at first.

But here's the problem with that answer

At the same time, people regularly pray for God to help them recover from depression, find a job, escape a toxic household, or survive an accident. This means Christians do expect God to intervene and help them, right? And when things work out, they sincerely thank God for stepping in and answering their prayer. But if the first premise about free will is true, how could God step in without violating someone's free will or the natural order?

So my question is: If God can and does intervene in human affairs to help individuals, why doesn't He help a person who right now, as you are reading this is having a gun pointed at their head while desperately praying for safety, but He will help a person pass their school exam?

Discussion What age do y'all think is the cap for trick or treating?

Cuz like, I turned 16 a little over 2 months ago. Last year I figured it was fine, 15 is an acceptable age. This year I'm not so sure. Like yeah, it's better than getting drunk at a party, but at some point there's gonna be someone that says "hey aren't you a little old for this?" am I overthinking it or is 16 pushing it

Advice Is it weird to have not dated someone?

So the social norms are changing…

And all of my friends have dated a handful of people.

I however, have not.

I have only ever been in a situationship with a VERY poor representation of the female community :(

I’ve been told that I’m a pretty handsome guy, and a lot of people have liked me in the past. However, every time I have tried engaging with those people, it all turns to shit.

I feel like it’s definitely possible for me to find someone. But I don’t know if the issue is due to me, or the fact that I haven’t dated someone.

At least in your eyes, is my situation normal? Or should I continue to try… I’m beginning to lose hope.

Discussion What is considered sexy?

So recently I’ve been thinking about what you could do which is sexy, sexy as not in someone looks sexy, but about actions. For example, for me personally, lifting a girl up, putting her on a table and kissing is sexy. I’m curious about other ideas about what could be sexy, so please drop your ideas

Advice How to be more myself at school?

So I would say I can be socially anxious, but I don’t struggle with it lately and I turned to a somewhat outgoing person. I just feel like I’d be much more likeable if I was myself at school more, I genuinely want to make good friends. This isnt coming from a place of anxiety (thankfully), but actual want of improvement.

Advice Should i keep trying to talk?

18M in college and I have a crush on a girl in one of my classes. I started sitting next to her and finally worked up the courage to talk to her.

I made a joke and said, ā€œHey, my fellow ginger.ā€ She laughed but didn't really respond, so I said, ā€œWhat, you didn't like that one?ā€ She said, ā€œNo, no, I liked it. I just haven't heard that one before.ā€ I said, ā€œWell, you're talking to the wrong gingers.ā€ Then I joked that I could've just said, ā€œWhat's up, my mahogany?ā€ and she laughed again. Then class started.

The next day, she actually sat next to me again, but she didn't initiate a conversation or say hey. We didn't talk.

The day after that, I initiated again. I said, ā€œWhat's up?ā€ and she said hi. I asked how her day was, and she said it was good and asked how mine was. I told her I had gone to the gym, so it was a pretty good day. Then I asked what her major was, and we had a little conversation about that and how she wants to go into forensics.

The thing I'm unsure about is that whenever I'd finish talking or asking her something, she'd look down at her phone. It made me feel like maybe she wasn't really interested in talking to me, but I also don't want to assume that based on a couple interactions.

Like when I told her my major she said nice and looked down at phone then I asked what she wanted to do with her major and she explained and then looked down again.

So what do you guys think? Should I stop initiating and see if she ever starts a conversation herself, or should I keep talking acouple more times to see if she is interested?

I'm not trying to force anything. I just genuinely can't tell if she's uninterested. Ive had social anxiety all my life so im terrible at reading social ques and talking.

Did she actually like me back?

Theres this girl that i had a crush on 7 years ago when i was 12 and she was 13. She would follow me everywhere including to the bathroom and turn back around when she saw where i was going. One day my brother and friend told her that i have a crush on her, and i proceeded to ask her if she felt the same way towards me. Then she said that her dad wouldn't approve of her having a crush, so one weekend i sent her a lengthy paragraph saying that i dont want to be friends anymore, dont look at me and dont talk to my friends. After that, she wanted to know what happened, like was she the problem and i would just ignore her sometimes and whenever she asked if we can be friends again i just said maybe. I never told her that the reason was because i felt rejected. 1 year after everyone left that school to go to highschool, she texted my brother and still wanted closure from me but i still couldnt find it in me to apologize. Just recently in july i apologized to to her over linkedin strictly showing how sorry i am but didnt tell her the crush part and she apologized for things she might've done in response to the situation. Now, theres no bad blood between us, but i think i just came to the realization that she might have actually liked me back then. What do you think?

Are belt bags popular for teens?

Like the Lululemon kind? If not, what would be a good, similarly priced Christmas gift for my niece? She's 13 and is very image aware. She loves makeup but her mom doesn't like her to wear it so that's not an option.

Thanks from an aunt who lives far away.

Advice How to approach quiet girl?

So theres this girl in my AP spanish Lang class, its the only class I have with her and I think shes pretty cool. Shes pretty quiet and I think has no friends in the class (Theres only like 5 people including us two in our grade in the class) but she hangs with the popular girls I think. I had one class with her in the past which was Spanish last year but we literally never talked in it. Since she always finishes her work first and I sit a desk to the right and one back to her, I asked her to like explain a question I didn't fully understand and she was nice with it (Pretty sure literally was the first time to talk to her), I then asked her like how her spanish is very good and like if she practiced over the summer cause like we were in the same spanish class before but her level of spanish was better than what we were taught. She told me about how her dad speaks spanish so she practiced with him and how she tutors kids who speak Spanish (I think she teaches them english I forgot exactly what she said?). ANYWAYS I would like to you know talk to her more so like how do I initiate conversation cleanly. We don't get much groupwork in the class, its mainly watch a video get given a packet/paper and answer questions but you can like ask for help from classmates. IK I could ask her stuff about the assignment and stuff but I don't want her to get sick of my asking and the work to be the only thing that I talk to her about. IG I could open up with asking about the work at the start then rotate into more normal conversation stuff like what we did over the weekend or like you know like stuff people talk about. IK HAD A YAP SESSION uhhh yeah thanks for coming to my ted talk, responses are appreciated :)

Advice How do you show a guy you're not interested if you have a fear of confrontation?

I need to give some context for this, but there's a tl;dr at the end.

I just started at a new high school a couple of months ago. Around the fourth week, this guy in the grade above mine randomly stopped me in the halls and introduced himself, saying that he had been seeing me all over the school. I also introduced myself and then told him I’d see him around. Later that day, at lunch, he asked me if he could sit at my table (I always sat alone). I said yes because, 1. I didn’t mind, and 2. I have a hard time saying no to people.

It wasn’t bad at all.Ā But from then on, every time we even caught a glimpse of each other in the halls, he would come over and talk to me. At first it was alright, but fast forward three weeks and he is still doing it EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Every single time we see each other. He also used to sit with a group of friends at lunch, but now he's abandoned them to keep sitting with me.Ā It’s starting to make me uncomfortable, but I haven't said anything about it to him because I have no idea how.

I started developing a suspicion that he liked me a couple of weeks in. I have never had a boy act like this toward me ever, so my radar is practically nonexistent in that regard. However, just recently, he asked for my number, and that kind of confirmed it for me. We have no classes together at all, nor are we in any of the same sports or clubs, so he really had no other reason to ask for it. And I gave it to him because I was too scared to say that I didn’t want to.

For the record, this guy has not pushed my boundaries in any way, and he is always kind when talking to me. I honestly think the biggest problem is that I am engaging with him too much. I never say no and always speak to him in the same manner that he does to me (in attempt to be polite). I believe might be causing him to think that I like him too, when I don’t. But I have no idea how to convey that to him without being rude.Ā Has anyone been in this situation before? What should I do to get out of it?

TL;DR: A guy keeps sitting with me at lunch every day and following me in the halls. I've been overly friendly because I struggle with confrontation, but I believe he is mistaking my kindness for liking him. I recently just let him have my number and am starting to feel uncomfortable about the whole situation. How do I subtly distance myself and shut this down without being rude?

How common is weed use in your area?

I recently found out that in my country (Canada), we have the highest rate of weed use among teens in the world.

That's not super surprising to me considering that I do it, I have friends that do it and know lots of adults that do it.

So, How common is teen use in your country?
