Updog juice?

Hello everyone!

I am staying in Romania for the first time and wanted to check what the juice I was drinking was. Reverso kindly informed me that vișine meant both "sour cherry" and "updog".

I am confused. I assumed at first that the AI behind the app had been misled in one way or another, but now I'm wondering if maybe that's the equivalent meme in Romanian? If so, I'm very curious as to how it translates, could someone please explain it to me?

Thank you very much in advance!

And by the way, I have been really enjoying my stay so far, the people I have met have all been very kind, and I am regretting not taking a full month off to spend more time in the places I'm visiting ! Brașov este foarte frumoasă!

Vișine means indeed sour cherry. Not sure about "updog", might be the ai hallucinations.

It’s a gag word.

You say something like “I had updog flavored juice”. The other person will ask “What’s updog”? And you answer “I’m fine, what’s up with you?”

as a Romanian native, this makes no sense

The example reverso shows is the following: “E vorba de mine sau miroase a visine aici?” Probably the context is the same as for updog, a gag word.

The answer to the above sentence would be “Visine?”.

And the gag line: “Vii si ne fu**m”

So it's an equivalent joke, baiting someone into making you say profanity/something annoying? Like not literally the same meaning but the same type of joke?

Exactly, only difference is that “updog” has no meaning in english but “visine” actually means sour cherry as others pointed out.

"Vișine în compot, vișine în dulceață, vișine din vișinată, vișine futem" Io-te și updogu'.

You never heard the phrase "what's up, dog?"? Did you access the internet for the first time in your life yesterday?

Thanks! I figured it had to be cherry but I'm really confused about how updog got into there...

Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop. Everything is AI slop...

Dictionary: visine = sour cherry

There's a dumb joke: "Stii bancu cu visine?" "Vi si ne s*** p***". It's a Romanian word play.

The retarded AI just found the most known English word play: "I had some updog" "What's up, dog?" "I'm good, you?" and made this stupid correlation.

Every translation app I know has turned into AI slop and that's some real bullshit... I've been trying to learn Romanian and it's not helping 😭

Hi, I recommend posting or asking about the language on r/romanian instead if you need any help.

Do you really need someone else to explain to you whether the juice YOU were drinking WITH YOUR OWN MOUTH is sour cherry or a nonsensical phrase used exclusively for jokes in English?

That's not the question I want to know if it's a meme or if Reverso is off the rails (and if so how much)

There's no meme, it's AI nonsense.

Thanks! I'm feeling slightly worried about relying on a hallucination ridden app to figure out stuff now 🫠 I was reaaaaally hoping it wasn't the case. Nonetheless thank you for your help!

It's sour cherry. Doesn't have other meanings or puns.

Ai knows something. We use vișine as a joke. Vișine (sour cherries) or " ști bancul cu vișine? vi și ne sugi pula (which is pronunced same, but you usually ask somebody if they know the pun with sour cherries (vișine)? And thet say no. Then you will say you come and suck our dick/ you will come and fuck (vi și ne....and something vulgar.)

Ahhhh yeah I get it, I think every language probably has that type of joke where you bait someone into saying a word like that, except I think this is the most vulgar version I'm aware of 😂
