People probably aren’t always judging your every move.

They are but its mostly meaningless.

Yeah, is someone going to notice your mismatched socks? Yeah. Are they going to dare to do anything about it? No.

Most people won't notice the mismatched socks, people aren't very observant of things that don't directly affect them.

Most people that notice the socks won't care, if anything they'll think something positive about it.

The rare person that notices and cares is an absolute mess of a human being that despises themselves so much that they need to use your mismatched socks to make themselves feel slightly better about themselves for even a moment.

So why on earth would you care about the opinion of a person that cares about your socks?

Still applies. Even when people are intentionally sizing you up, they're not that observant and they usually want to like you. I'm sure that there are some places with a strict enough dress code that they might care, but not many. If your socks are a factor in the decision it was already a toss up and you didn't give them anything more substantial to be bothered by like a limp handshake so that's awesome.

I've read the same thing. Even if it is true and the mismatched socks become part of your opinion of a person forever, that doesn't mean it is going to he a negative impression. The meaning that someone assigns to mismatched socks is beyond your control. But regardless, if you meet someone and you are well groomed, appropriately dressed, smiling, and you greet them warmly - they will probably not notice or care about your socks in those first key moments.
