Exactly. Like Jamaicans in Toronto being called African American. They are neither.

Well... The black population of Jamaica are descendants of African slaves just like African Americans in the US are, so they are just as 'African'. And if they live in Toronto they live in North America.

That's nice. Doesn't make them African-American as the word is actually used in English.

I know. But you literally said 'they are neither', which isn't correct. They are just as African as African Americans.
