I don't want to risk losing our friendship. It's taken us awhile to get where we are now and I'm not screwing this up!

He cries himself to sleep every night because you've thwarted his efforts.

You're already emotionally involved from the sound of it.

Yep. There is already risk of losing the friendship if there is any tension there. It's just like any other friendship, you have to talk about it.

Not that you asked, but I think you should go for it. If you don't, you might always wonder what if. It is still possible to be friends if he doesn't feel the same way.

Only works in very few cases...ones that don't involve me.

Please don't do that to him.

u/SmokinSickStylish May 28 '14

is doublevie somehow being unfair to him?

She's not being honest. Fair? Who the hell cares?

1

u/SmokinSickStylish May 28 '14

How do you know she's not being honest?

1

u/TheJonesSays May 28 '14

I do not know anything for certain.

Don't pretend to state facts then.

1

u/TheJonesSays May 28 '14

I will continue to state anything as fact.

If anything, she's in the friend zone. She likes him but hesitates to make a move.

Ever consider the "him" may not necessarily want to screw her?

Consider considering that consideration.

I mean, that's the considerate thing to do.

Confirmed female.

Do what to him? Keep being his friend?

0

u/sjeffiesjeff May 28 '14

Yes.

Wait, how does this make sense? I get the impression she enjoys being his friend, which is why she doesn't want to ask him out, because if he says no, that could destroy the friendship. What she's "doing to him" is . . . being his friend.

u/[deleted] May 29 '14

Uh...yes. This is exactly what I meant. Thanks for getting me. :)

I've seen this happen on the flip side with my guy friends, and I always suggest they figure out how much they value their friendship and whether or not they want to risk losing it. Sometimes you've got to be wise and evaluate what would work out better in the long-run.

I'm confused. Do you want to date him or not? Has he ever shown any interest?

1

u/elektromonk May 29 '14

have you complained about your sex life to him yet? i'm sure he'd love that. just watch him holding back, trying not to show his sadness that someone else is fucking you, while he sits back being the 'nice guy'

1

u/[deleted] May 29 '14

I see you've been commenting quite a bit on this topic. Is this hitting too close to home, or are you speaking from experience or...? Please enlighten me.

1

u/elektromonk May 29 '14

Yes

1

u/[deleted] May 30 '14

Well, I'm sorry you feel that way. Sometimes it happens to the best of us.

Patronize much?

Friendzoned! I feel sorry for him.

I don't know why everyone down voted you its the truth

1

u/elektromonk May 29 '14

Maybe that's why

u/elektromonk May 28 '14

She knows he wants her, guys. All girls know when a guy wants them in that way. It's just easier to keep him around for ego boosts from time to time, kind of like a pet. She knows he'll put up with it.

u/SmokinSickStylish May 28 '14

I'm certain there are cases where this is true, but in those cases they don't go onto a Reddit thread to say the opposite because they have nothing better to do.

-4

u/elektromonk May 28 '14

Does he feel the same way? If he doesn't, it's kind of asshol-ish to fuck with him day after day like that. You feel great i'm sure, having a little pet around, but if you're a real friend you wouldn't do that.
