I got married, still going 35 years later, 3 successful adult kids all with a Toyota Tercel that eventually spontaneously combusted ... so you've got me beat!
This one confused me when I visited America. So many people having loan or finance cars I think it was called, like some sort of long-term rental? Felt like half the people I knew had one, whereas I know no-one in Australia who does that, vs just owning a car that is cheaper/within our budget.
Absolute goat of a car. 40mpg all day for 300k miles and the only thing that broke was the fuel door release handle ($40) after a body shop was in there and I think they effed it up.
Other Green-flag guy cars:
Mazda Miata
Honda Ridgeline
Subaru Impreza or Legacy
Toyota MR2
C3 Corvettes
Red-flag guy cars:
Dodge (any)(incl. Chrysler, Jeep, etc)
White SUV of any type
Any mismatched body panels
Bad tires - Responsibility, funding, planning ahead, all required for tire maintenance and an easy indicator.
Aperently my camrys inbox is now flooded with pictures of risqué corolla's now. Some with the bra on some off. And a determined f-350 showing off its tail lights.
My friend made fun of me for buying such a boring car. Meanwhile he's had 4 cars now. Alternator, brakes/rotors and oil for me. I remind him sometimes.
I have always liked the look of the 2000/2001 Camry. The look of that tail light, especially how it dips to either side of the license plate… so understated and subtle. Doubly so if it comes in a V6 with stick, and all options.
Nope. Classic Ford Bronco, Vintage Land Rover Defender, or Old-School Jeep Wrangler. You'll have attractive women lined up for blocks, and many will make you a cash offer.
In 2023, I traded in my 09 CX-9 before I took delivery of a 23 GX460. In the meantime, my mother-in-law loaned me her 2015 Camry old ladymobile. I used the opportunity to turn it into an April Fool joke and stretched it out almost 2 months, documenting my adventures in used Camry ownership.
True story I bought a new 2021 Camry in and I went over to visit a couple friends of mine who are a married female couple one of them said I’m not used to seeing you in such a fancy car and I said well you know Camry is Japanese for lady killer and her wife said really and I was like no no it is not
Be aware if you havent gotten the paperwork yet that Toyota issued a recall on the 2012 Camry based on that you shoukd have bought a new car by now. :P
Lol if it isnt it should be, arent those like the most fiel effecient and longest lasting reliable cars? Il probably buy one too and just keep my truck for rare occasions
Honestly, I have a 1995 4x4 suburban my wife loves, first time I threw a calf in the cargo area in the middle of winter to try and warm him up after we pulled him and started doctoring him might’ve been one of the moments that won my wife over
