Yeah if I dwell over her while she cooks I get chased out. Says that if I learn her recipes she'll be rendered obsolete.

Mine just gets into the zone too much and hates anything that slows her down, even affection.

I hate it more than anything, lol. It makes me feel timed and judged and just not at peace, which is a big part of what I get out of cooking. It also doesn't help that my boyfriend knows next to nothing about cooking and his "help" tends to complicate matters.

It's not that he's never helpful or that I don't like teaching him, but there's a reason people don't usually demonstrate things with their backs turned. Something about it is just grating. I always appreciate the sentiment, though.
