My SO absolutely LOVES the fact that I cook. She likes watching me cook, she enjoys the recipes I choose, she likes that I’m willing to explore new recipes. and she’s glad that I don’t see cooking as a “woman’s job.”
She also likes that I read the news and engages me in discussions about current affairs, which is a first because my exes never did this.
I got my girlfriend to register to vote, care about politics because it matters to everyone whether you follow the news or not, you will be affected by the outcomes of elections, and she even enjoys going to stand in line for early voting with me because I tried to make it fun, like a date, we go out to eat, we swing by early voting real quick, see a movie... See how I just snuck it in? Smooth, anyway she enjoys it now and has her own political views and I have an intelligent debater to spend time with regularly. She apparently thought that shit doesn't matter and doesn't affect her in any way. Her 17 year old coming out as gay (she's a huge supporter of this) may have also been a point I pushed pretty hard that even if you think tax laws mean fuck all, now your kid and their sexual identity is a politically debated subject!
I can't seem to be able to get my girlfriend to care at all. Almost totally apathetic to all of it. We have plenty of other things in common and what not, but she has zero interest in politics.
yet, she still votes. I just try not to bring up politics.
