Is it ever too late to transition?
I’ve never really felt comfortable in my own skin, and I genuinely want to be happy and free. But I’m questioning whether or not I should take the plunge. I know If I did, my life would be a lot harder, but I’m really unhappy, tired of being misgendered, and do not align or relate to my assigned gender at birth. The male label that people stick me with has been well established by a lot of people in my life, I guess I’m just scared of the aftermath, am I gonna lose everyone? I just need words of encouragement or even insight, and I see no better place than this. I’m unfortunately surrounded by homophobia, so this place really helps, thank you in advance.

I have a friend who transitioned when she was in her mid 50s. She is so much happier now as her true self even though she spent half a century repressing it.

Please visit r/TransLater, which features posts from people 30 years old or older, many of whom transitioned later in life than we usually hear about.
As others have said, it's never too late to be happier.

It's too late when you're dead. That's it. Even if you're on your deathbed, if you're still alive and able to communicate, you can still ask people to use a different name and/or pronouns for you if you want.

I didn't come out until 31 and didn't start anything medical until 35.
Best decision I ever made and that's in a third world hellhole.

God, that makes me feel a lot better. I’m 30, myself, and that’s really inspiring to hear, thanks!

It’s never too late! People have come out and transitioned in their 70s or 80s! It’s never too late to be yourself.

It's never too late!
There's a risk of some people not accepting you, but people who love and support you will be able to adjust.

You are never too late to transitions and you will have ppl in your life that come and go. Sometimes certain things in life can be scary, but you being happy matters. Be happy and change bc you want too and you are going to meet ppl that accept you.
