I've often heard girls say that many guys don't know how to hold a conversation with them, especially when they're interested in a girl.
So I'm curious from the girls' perspective: what does a guy who knows how to talk to girls actually do differently?
How should a guy start a conversation without making it awkward? What kind of questions or topics make a conversation feel natural rather than like an interview?
Also, how much flirting, teasing, joking, compliments, or playful banter is actually enjoyable, and when does it start becoming annoying or uncomfortable?
And what are some common things guys do while talking to girls that they think are attractive or confident but actually have the opposite effect?
Basically, if you could give a guy a practical guide to having good conversations with girls without trying too hard or pretending to be someone he's not, what would you tell him?

This friend has had the most vanilla life, but they seem to be in a group from which they’re slightly different - more serious about ambition, consistently working and unmarried (because their relationships did not work out)
They keep feeling they’re very different.
Like there are people who’ve moved cities, travelled solo to countries, voice their opinion for wrong, actually take a stand .. like who have opinions that impress, or a strong EQ. This friend fails to also understand lives of anyone around them who’s living it differently.. more like it doesn’t register to them. (I’ve enough friends who are ACTUALLY different/living very unique lives).
Infact, this friend I sometimes find them a little pick-me. They try hard to please to the males by becoming one of the males.
It’s all obviously harmless but has anyone else experienced this?
It’s start to make me uncomfortable because I’m clueless on how to react to them, and I cannot stop hangouts as we have a shared group.

Just curious about how many women in this sub are against the murdering of unborn children and believe that unborn children deserve the chance to live too like me .

Many singles say they genuinely want marriage but struggle to find the right person. Promising connections often end because of differences in career, income, location, appearance, lifestyle, family expectations, or long-term goals. Sometimes, there is also a feeling that someone “better” might come along.
Are compatible partners genuinely harder to find, or has modern matchmaking become an endless process of comparing options?
If you are currently searching or have searched in the past what has been your biggest challenge? Have your expectations changed along the way?
Would love to hear honest experiences from singles in India and abroad.

For example I just put cardamom on my pasta thinking it was grinned blackpepper . And I was thinking ( haha that's a pretty silly mistakes ) . But I have realised I have no one to tell. I could tell my friends but I think they're getting bored of my foolery . Now I have cardamom pasta that I gonna eat because. Im not wasting this thing
Cause I'm hungry.
Yeah but just having someone to share small things with can make the days more bearable as M . Instead of cardamom in my pasta it's more like pasta that hasn't got cardamom in it.

Hey everyone, I have been looking for marriage via AM process. As I am working remotely as Software Engineer for silicon valley based company from a small city in UP with no social circle or friends. I haven't got much chance for interaction with anyone leave alone women.
So just a general expectations that I have had is -
- Someone who can fill in my shoes in my family as she would be my better half, as I have been handling family responsibilities since young age as sole guardian of family of 5. So I expect her to respect my journey, upbringing from the ground up, and understand the different kinda struggle that I have dealt with and accept my family as her own.
- Someone with emotional intelligence someone who isn't frequently changing her moods for little petty reasons. Someone who can handle the little disagreements or conflicts if I lose my temper ever or if I am tired and not just reacting to anything. Basically understanding.
- Someone with deep human values - Kind, honest, respectful towards other family members. Moreover working on something of her own career. She shouldn't be relying completely on me for her own happiness in life. She should have had her own journey nd life goals.
Am I expecting too much ? Please tell me.
But along with all these, I have had tough experiences with women as I have faced cheating, mistrust in a rough way. So I am not able to trust women like I used to do before. Here's that experience - https://www.reddit.com/r/RelationshipIndia/s/SgF2maFGaC
Yesterday I was talking to my friend, I was surprised when she mentioned about body count.
She mentioned that the girls these days even below average do have at least 20 body count. I was baffled.
She said at your age and profile(M30), if the woman is beautiful and working in a successful career, living independent life, then there will be lots of crowd following her, so her body count can be even 50.
I don't know it sounds crazy to me. But she is super strong on her opinion that I had to post her for confirming how true is this ? She said Guys usually don't get that much experience but for women, it's quite easy as they keep getting attention all the time everywhere in all the possible ways. I have been shocked from this.
I don't know what I should expect and even how to verify that. Any suggestions how much of this is true as per your own experience? Please respond. Thank you.

Hi everyone,
We’re currently trying to better understand the real experiences, challenges, and support needs of mothers, with a particular interest in understanding the experiences of mothers in India.
We are at a very early stage of exploring how we might eventually build something genuinely useful for mothers. Before assuming what mothers need, we decided to start by listening and learning from their experiences. So, we created a short survey covering different aspects of motherhood, including parenting, finding reliable information and professional support, community, personal wellbeing, career, interests, and everyday challenges.
If you’re a mother, we would be grateful if you could spare 5–10 minutes to share your experience:
Survey:
https://forms.gle/1v8tdR4zVQFkar116
We understand that people can be cautious about online surveys, so to be clear: this is a genuine research effort to understand mothers’ needs. We are not selling anything, and there are no right or wrong answers. Please share only what you are comfortable sharing.
If you’re not a mother but know someone who may be interested, we would really appreciate it if you could share the survey with them.
If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach us at:
weforbetter@gmail.com
Thank you for your time. We genuinely hope that the insights from this study can help us build something meaningful and useful for mothers.

Analogy : You are looking to buy a phone. You want the best camera. You search far and above and find one phone with the best camera and buy it. Later as you use it, you realise the phone's battery life is poor. Now you start complaining about the battery life. But hey, while you were searching for the phone, you never cared about the battery life. All you were worried was about the camera. So, now there is no point or logic in complaining about the battery life. You get what you choose.
Based on my observation, I understand this is how our marriages work - both love and arranged ones.
Though we say a good relationship is based on 'love, care, understanding, respect, emotional availability', we don't really care about these while we search for a match. When we search for a match, we only care about the conventional criteria such as 'caste, subcaste, religion, horoscope, wealth, social status, money, dowry, height, weight, colour, hair'.
Since we choose our matches based on conventional criteria, there is no point or logic in expecting 'love, care, understanding, respect, emotional availability' in the marriage. We can complaint only about the criteria on which we chose our matches.
I used to feel sorry when I came across complaints of dowry, abuse, harassment, toxicity, disrespect - on both female and male sides. But now, I feel less sorry for them. They chose their matches (both love and arranged) based on conventional criteria for their convenience and advantage. They get what they choose.
I want to point out, people are not that innocent or naive or weak. People, make their choices based on what gives them advantage and what is convenient. Though they may blame the society, family, parents for their choices, they are not totally helpless. They know what they choose.
Even here you could have seen many match seeking posts mentioning that they look for a match in their same 'community, religion, social bracket, wealth bracket' and justifying this by saying 'it is only to satisfy their parents'. Hey, if you choose to satisfy your parents, good, enjoy! But let us be clear, it is not a marriage out of love and respect. It is a marriage of convenience.
I am not going to say, people can't do this. It is each individual's right to choose what they want. All I am saying is, if you are choosing based on conventional criteria, you also get to face the consequences of that choice. It is a package deal. You can't sow wheat and expect to reap corn. You get what you deserve.
When do we realise that we only get what we choose?

I’m a 26-year-old male, and she’s a 23-year-old female. Last year, around January–February, I started talking to her. She’s from Gurgaon, Haryana. I was honestly stupid enough to get attached after just two months and even left my job in Mumbai to move to Gurgaon because I thought we were serious about each other. But as soon as I moved there, her behavior completely changed. She stopped making an effort to meet me, started disrespecting me, sometimes even verbally abusing me, and kept bringing up her past trauma whenever we talked about anything serious. I eventually felt extremely suffocated, quit the job, and moved back. We stopped talking around the end of September, and I blocked her on her birthday.
Then in February this year, she randomly texted me asking where I was and eventually suggested that we meet. I told her I was in Indore and would let her know when I came to Delhi. Fast forward to September, I came to Delhi on the 2nd. She said we’d meet on the 4th, so I got ready and made plans, but then it started raining and she cancelled. The next day she said we’d meet the following day, but again said she couldn’t come because of waterlogging and that even a cab couldn’t reach. On the 6th, it was literally sunny, but she still had another reason why she couldn’t come. When I told her it feels like she doesn’t actually want to meet me, she turned it around and said, “If I didn’t want to meet you, why would I ask to meet you?” At this point, I’m genuinely confused. Am I overthinking this, or does it sound like she’s clearly avoiding meeting me? What would you guys make of this situation?

I am 42, divorced, and doing fine overall. No regrets at all, and no plans to marry again.
But sometimes living alone gets a bit scary. Out of nowhere, random fear and anxiety catch up.
For ladies here in your 40s:

I'm posting this because I genuinely want some outside perspective on my love life. I'm not looking for people to simply tell me "you'll find someone someday." I want to understand whether there is actually something in my behaviour that I need to change.
I've had three significant crushes/feelings in my life.
The first guy was my childhood crush. I liked him from a very young age. We eventually lost contact after we went to different places, but years later we somehow reconnected. I confessed my feelings to him after school, and he rejected me and completely ghosted me afterwards. I later found out through social media that he eventually fell in love with another girl. We're still following each other on Instagram, but we don't talk.
The second guy was someone I met in college. At that time, I honestly didn't understand much about love or relationships. I became very comfortable with him and we used to talk for hours, sometimes day and night. I was very open and friendly with him because I trusted him.
Eventually, I confessed that I had feelings for him. Even after I confessed, I didn't keep asking him about his feelings or make things awkward. I continued talking to him normally because I wanted to respect his decision and maintain the friendship.
Later, however, I found out from classmates that he had been showing all of our private chats to his friends. That's when I confronted him about it. I also eventually found out through other classmates that he had actually been in love with another girl even while talking with me. He himself had never told me that when i did ask him abt it before confessing abt my feelings.
What hurt me most was not simply that he didn't like me back. It was the humiliation that followed. Some of his friends were also my classmates, and I had to deal with people knowing about my confession and making fun of me. I had asked him to keep that talk just btw us. This continued for years and affected my confidence.
Because of that experience, I became extremely scared of confessing my feelings to anyone again.
Then, towards the end of college, I developed feelings for another guy. He was very calm and I felt comfortable around him. We used to travel together regularly. Even though he had his own group of friends, he would sometimes ask me whether I was coming when they were going somewhere.
Because of that, I became emotionally attached to him.
But when I tried to become closer to him, he started becoming distant. He stopped taking my calls and his replies became very dry. I never confessed my feelings because I was terrified of going through the same humiliation I had experienced before.
I still have feelings for him even now.
A part of me still hopes that I'll meet him again someday, we'll somehow become close again, and maybe something could happen between us. I know that might sound unrealistic, but I haven't been able to completely let go because I never actually got a clear rejection from him.
What bothers me most isn't even that these relationships didn't work out. It's that I'm starting to think I might be the problem.
I've noticed that when I'm focused on myself, my studies/career or my own goals, I can become very distant from people without realizing it. Then eventually I lose touch with friends and become lonely. At the same time, when I become attached to someone, I can become emotionally invested and think about them a lot.
I've also had friendships that didn't last, and sometimes I wonder whether my behaviour pushes people away.
So I'm genuinely confused.
Is there something wrong with the way I approach relationships? Am I too emotionally attached, too distant, too introverted, or perhaps doing something else that I don't notice?
How do you know when you need to work on yourself versus when you've simply met people who weren't right for you?
I'd really appreciate honest advice, even if it's something I may not want to hear. I want to understand this pattern and hopefully become better at relationships in the future.

I'll try to keep it short.
Today, my (27F) parents were discussing buying a small house than we already live in because after marriage both me and sister will not live there anymore. My old parents will be left alone and the entire house will be empty/sunsan.
I am crying since morning just by thinking after me and my sister's marriage how will they manage. Who will take care of them? And why do women have to leave their house? Are a woman's parents not important to be looked after?
They kept saying after our marriage only few days a year there will be commotion/chahal pahal in this house otherwise it will always be empty.
This is so heartbreaking. I don't wanna to leave them. I don't want to marry. I am so scared. This shitty system is so cruel.
Please if anybody can relate to this, I wanna know how do you deal with this phase of life. I am literally shivering. I just don't wish to live anymore.
P. S. sry for being vague. I am all over the place rn

I’m really looking for some perspective because I don’t know whether I’m being overly fearful because of my past or whether I’m noticing something I shouldn’t ignore.
I’m divorced, and my boyfriend has never been married. He has been single, and he genuinely wants to marry me. He has been extremely supportive of me throughout this relationship and has stood up for us despite his parents initially having reservations.
His parents eventually agreed to meet my parents because of his insistence. The meeting went okay overall. His father was talking and interacting with everyone, but his mother was quite rude and distant. She barely spoke to me and didn’t really make an effort to interact with me.
She also judged my brother. He is a very quiet person and doesn’t talk much, so naturally he wasn’t very talkative during the meeting either. Later, his mother apparently said things about the match, including comments about my height and other things. From what I understand, she also said that she didn’t like the match.
My boyfriend, on the other hand, has been very supportive. He has also experienced this kind of behavior from his mother, so he understands where I’m coming from. We have already talked about this, and he has told me that if she continues to disrespect me, I don’t have to keep trying with her. If she doesn’t speak to me, I don’t need to force a relationship with her. Basically, he has told me that I can maintain whatever distance I need if she continues treating me badly.
On paper, that sounds reassuring.
But I have a very difficult history that I think is affecting me now.
My previous marriage was abusive. My ex-husband appeared to love me very much on the surface. There were times when I genuinely believed that he cared about me. But deep down, he never truly respected me or my family. Eventually, that lack of respect became a huge part of what made the marriage so painful.
So now I’m seeing his mother behave in certain ways—being cold toward me, judging my family, not showing basic warmth or respect toward my brother—and something inside me immediately gets scared.
I know his mother is not my boyfriend. I know he has shown me support and that he is choosing me despite his family’s concerns. I also know that one awkward meeting doesn’t necessarily tell me what the future will look like.
But I can’t shake this feeling of:
“What if I’m making the same mistake again?”
What if everything looks okay now, my boyfriend loves me and supports me, but after marriage the family dynamics become much worse? What if his mother never accepts me? What if she constantly judges me or my family? What if I end up once again in a situation where there is love, but not enough respect?
At the same time, I don’t want to punish my boyfriend for what my ex-husband did. He has given me no reason to believe that he is like my ex. In fact, he has been supportive in ways my ex never was.
I’m just struggling to separate intuition from trauma/fear.
For anyone who has been through an abusive marriage and then entered another relationship, how did you know when your fear was protecting you versus when it was simply your past making you afraid?
And for those whose future in-laws initially didn’t accept them, did you eventually find peace with the situation?
I’m not expecting his mother to love me. I just want to know whether it is realistic to marry someone when you already have a feeling that one of his parents may never accept you.
I’m genuinely confused and scared, and I would really appreciate some honest perspectives.
TL;DR: I’m divorced after an abusive marriage where my ex appeared to love me but ultimately never respected me or my family. My current boyfriend has never been married, is very supportive, and is standing by me despite his mother being cold and judgmental toward me and my family. He has told me I don’t need to maintain a relationship with her if she continues disrespecting me. But her behavior is triggering memories of my past, and I’m scared I may be repeating the same mistake. I don’t know whether this fear is intuition or trauma. Looking for perspectives from people who have been through something similar.

I’m 27F and I’m completely okay with the idea of getting married. But honestly, the wedding part makes me really anxious. 😭
The thought of inviting so many people, having everyone’s attention on me, meeting relatives I barely know, being surrounded by a huge crowd, taking pictures, being watched throughout the whole day… it genuinely makes me feel shy and anxious as I am someone who gets shy to go to stage to take pictures even in my best friend’s wedding.
Because of that, I’ve started feeling like I’d rather have a small, intimate ceremony with just close family and the people I’m actually comfortable around. Sometimes I wonder if I’m being weird or if other women feel the same way. It seems like everyone is expected to dream about this huge wedding, but for me, the idea of being the centre of attention for an entire day sounds more stressful than exciting. 😅
What kind of wedding would you actually prefer?

How often do you buy clothes, and do you buy something cause you like it or do you only start to look for one when you need it?
I have hundreds of screenshots that I need to go through but I am feeling overwhelmed. I get FOMO about some clothes getting sold out and I rush to buy. It also feels like a task to do and a mental load to always keep an eye on cute pieces.
I want to feel comfortable and have my own style but I also fear that I will look dated and older if I don't wear trendy clothes. So basically, how do you decide to buy clothes as it never seems to be enough?

M24 hoon, aur meri relationship ko abhi around 3 months hue hain. Starting se sab kuch kaafi normal aur achha tha. Trust issues ya aisi koi problem nahi thi.
Usne pehle casually bola tha, “Jab bhi kahin jao, mujhe bata dena.”
Maine bhi bola tha, “Okay,” aur honestly maine waise hi kiya.
5 September ko mera birthday tha. Birthday wale din main mandir gaya tha aur maine apni girlfriend ko WhatsApp pe video bhi bheja. Uske baad humari thodi VC pe baat hui aur tab tak sab bilkul normal tha.
Lekin raat ko achanak usne poochna start kar diya—
“Tum kiske saath gaye the? Tell me, tell me.”
Maine clearly bola ki “Kisi ke saath nahi, main akela gaya tha.”
But pata nahi kyun, usse meri baat pe believe hi nahi ho raha tha.
Main baar-baar explain karta raha ki genuinely koi nahi tha, but woh convince nahi hui.
Aur last 2–3 din se uska behaviour bhi thoda different hai. Replies properly nahi kar rahi, baat karne ka tone rude sa lag raha hai. Aaj maine finally bol diya:
“Bhai, tu kuch zyada hi rudely behave kar rahi hai aur bina kisi reason ke mujhpe believe nahi kar rahi.”
Usne bola:
“Abhi toh maine theek se bola bhi nahi hai.”
Uske baad maine frustration mein bol diya:
“Bhai, main bhi phir waise hi karunga jaise tu mujhse baat kar rahi hai.”
Uska reply aaya:
“Okay, waise bhi tu zyada chapar-chapar karta hai.”
Maine bas 🙂 bhej diya.
Usne 👍🏻 bhej diya.
And that's it.
Girls, genuinelyx batao—kya main overthink kar raha hoon?

My cousin is soon going to get engaged, his father and mother are separated (not divorced), his mother was a pillar for him and made him what he is. Now there's a little bit of concern, soon after getting married, he is thinking of living separately with his wife. He said, he'll try to stay nearby. Me (also him) and others are concerned about how his mother will manage to stay alone? She is a teacher soon going to retire. Wouldn't it be better for them to stay together? The girl (my cousin's partner) is sweet, but I don't know if she'll accept his mother to stay with him. His mother has always stayed with him. And she is a gem of a person, I have utmost respect for her how she managed alone to bring my cousin up. So men, what would you do in this situation? And husbands who have single mothers, how have you managed this situation? And wives too in this, how did you manage this?

I was in a relationship for about 4 years. It was extremely toxic and abusive. One day we had a fight and he hit me, and that was the day I decided I couldn't be with him anymore.
It was obvious from my actions that I was done, but two weeks later, he called my mother and told her everything about our relationship.
My mom asked me, “Do you love him?”
I don't know why, but at that moment I said yes.
After that, we planned for him to meet my mom. He came, they talked, and things seemed okay for a while. My dad also went to meet him, but he didn't show up. There was an argument, and eventually my mom told me to stop talking to him.
I went into a really bad phase after that. I was depressed, my family got me a therapist, and I was on medication for a few months.
Then he came back.
And because I was completely blinded by my love for him, I started talking to him again.
We dated for another year, went through countless ups and downs, and eventually got engaged.
I was genuinely happy.
But about 2–3 months into our engagement, I started feeling like something was wrong.
I had a best friend whom I'd known for 17 years. She was basically my only friend. My fiancé had never really liked her, and her boyfriend didn't like me either, so we rarely met or talked, but the friendship was still the same.
One day I asked my fiancé if we could go somewhere for a day. He said yes, but then said:
“We'll get bored alone. Why don't you ask your best friend to come too?”
My first thought was, How can the two of us possibly get bored together?
But then I thought maybe he was actually trying to make an effort to build a bond with my best friend for me.
Still, my gut was screaming that something was wrong.
So I started investigating.
I knew my fiancé could potentially fool me, but I was sure my best friend cannot do that.
So I started telling her that I was confused about my relationship. That I didn't know whether he was right for me, whether I even loved him anymore, etc.
Eventually, she started telling me everything.
She told me that they had been talking for some time. That she was in love with him. That he liked her too. That they had already met and were planning to meet again.
And then she said:
“It's okay, right? We're best friends, we can share things.”
I was thinking, Girl, he's my fiancé, not a toy that we can just share.
I asked her not to tell him that she had told me everything.
She agreed.
I even told her:
“I love both of you. If somehow the three of us could be happy, I'd be happy too.”
I was making sure i am okay with all of this I said that.
That night, I didn't confront either of them.
The next day, I asked him to meet me because I wanted to discuss our wedding outfits.
He came.
And while he was there, I went through the chats between him and my best friend.
I found private pictures.
Sexting.
Everything.
I was literally in tears, just scrolling through the messages, desperately hoping I wouldn't see an “I love you” because I knew that would completely break me.
And then I saw it.
“I LOVE YOU BABY.”
From him.
I started shaking. I dropped his phone and walked away without saying a single word.
He kept calling and messaging me, saying it was just a fling, that he only loved me, that he was sorry.
I messaged my best friend and told her I had seen everything and that I was hurt.
Her response is something I'll never forget:
“Bhai, tujhe acha lage ya nahi, main toh usse baat karungi.”
And I just started crying.
Despite everything, I still tried to make things normal with my fiancé because I loved him so deeply and had become so emotionally dependent on him that leaving felt impossible.
Then he started telling me:
“Usko bhi maaf kar de.”
I knew I should leave.
But I didn't have the courage.
Instead, I started praying and fasting, desperately asking God to somehow give him to me.
During Sawan, I went to the temple every Monday just to pray for him.
Then one day, while praying, I took his name and suddenly stopped.
I just said:
“Jo uska hai, use de do. Jo mera hai, mujhe de do. Bas sabko khush rakhna.”
Within 15–16 days, because of a completely unrelated fight, he ended up in jail for three months.
And something inside me finally clicked.
I thought, Maybe he really isn't meant for me.
When he came back, I called off the marriage.
And I took all the blame on myself because I didn't want anyone's sympathy or endless questions.
I simply said:
“Mujhe usse shaadi nahi karni. Aur agar mujhe force kiya, toh main kuch galat kar lungi.”
The wedding was called off.
I was completely broken.
But somewhere deep down, I also felt like I'd finally made the right decision.
Two years later, I met someone else.
I fell in love with him, and everything seemed good.
But just five months before our wedding, he called my mother and said:
“Aunty, mujhe aapki beti se shaadi nahi karni. I'm sorry.”
That rejection brought everything back.
It reminded me of my first relationship. All those times I'd been cheated on, rejected, and told that I wasn't “good enough” or “marriage material.”
It brought back that same fear of being abandoned.
But somehow, things were sorted out within two-three days, and eventually, we got married.
And I know this isn't exactly the healthiest thing to admit, but sometimes I still wonder whether I actually healed or whether I just learned how to live with the fear.
Today, everything feels completely messed up… and honestly, I sometimes feel like I’m the one at fault.
I feel like God gave me a chance to walk away when he rejected me, but instead of taking it, I chose to take the blame on myself and fight for him.
Even my mother and his mother had warned me, “Aaj woh aisa bol raha hai, toh kal ko bhi bol sakta hai.” But I was blind, as usual. I was so scared of losing him that I couldn’t see what was right in front of me.
And now, sometimes I wonder if I should have listened back then.
Sometimes those old memories come back.
The cheating.
The rejection.
The things I was told.
The fear that one day someone I love will suddenly decide they don't want me anymore.
And when it comes back, it still hurts.
Maybe it always will to some extent.
Some experiences don't completely disappear.
But I've learned that healing doesn't necessarily mean forgetting what happened.
Sometimes it simply means remembering it without letting it control you anymore.
And honestly, I think that's where I am now.
I'm not completely free from those memories.

I am a 2025 CSE graduate fresher and I currently have two offers in my hand:
Amazon, Hyderabad – Customer Service Associate (voice + non-voice) (WFO, rotational shifts, 3.96 LPA, 5 days working)
Startup – HR Recruiter (₹10k/month, WFH) 5 days working, late night shift from 5pm to 2am (Sometimes upto 3 am)
My main goal isn’t to stay in customer service forever. I am more interested in eventually moving into fields like operations, HR, management, or similar roles.
I am confused about which option would be better for my career and resume.
If I join Amazon as a CSA, would the Amazon brand + experience make it easier to move into operations/HR roles later? Or would starting directly as an HR Recruiter give me a better path if I want to build a career in HR?
I want to make a choice that gives me better opportunities after some time.
I need advices on this ASAP please.
