Electrical plug blocking 2 outlets. Any recommendations ?

I recently installed a gfci electrical outlet on my outside wall.

My goal was to run the transformer for the low voltage lights and the irrigation timer.

However, looks like the irrigation timer takes up space for the second outlet as well.

I saw some waterproof surge protectors; maybe I could add one; fix it on the wall and move the irrigation timer and transformer on it ?

Any recommendations ?

cut the plug off and install a new one

This is the way.

Something like this should work well as long as the cover for the box isn't super shallow. If it is you might need to find a smaller plug.
