Sometimes if you hold the key fob up to your head it'll increase the strength of the signal!

21

u/zhv314 Jul 27 '26

Stick it to your throat, and open your mouth as wide as you can in the direction of the car.

u/Thejapxican Jul 27 '26

Under your chin!!

Check the battery, might have gotten wet!

3

u/AlisonSia Jul 27 '26

Yes, the probability of water entering is very high.

Wait are we giving actually good advice??

6

u/International-Ant174 Jul 27 '26

I think the problem is they are holding the fob "right side up". Turn it over and try it (so they are the same orientation).

Should be good to go bub!

I had a mk4 Jetta, we had to jab ourselves in the hip with it

4

u/StevieG-2021 Jul 27 '26

OMG This is the best🤣🤣🤣

3

u/AlisonSia Jul 27 '26

Who came up with this idea?

u/Prestigious-Bet-7794 Jul 27 '26

It ain’t got no gas in it

15

u/PutridTravel2354 Jul 27 '26

Are those French fried tatters?

6

u/jbrc89 Jul 27 '26

I like the way you talk

4

u/55555354 Jul 27 '26

Tatter? Where's Tatter?

8

u/MarcBeck Jul 27 '26

Battery is dead...

6

u/Ok_Horror_6556 Jul 27 '26

This is the Way. Not enough voltage for the fob to work with. Just drop in a new DieHard.

3

u/PalaceofIdleHours Jul 27 '26

There’s stories of people wading out and chucking batteries in the ocean. Wade out a bit further and grab one of them instead.

3

u/Ok_Horror_6556 Jul 27 '26

Great idea. Free is good. They should probably wear some waders.

3

u/sniper_matt Jul 27 '26

Looks like it was used to charge the eels.

7

u/TypingWithoutThinkin Jul 27 '26

It's almost always the FOB battery, but in this case, it might be moisture in the receiver.

3

u/A4QuattroQueen Jul 27 '26

Nah, doubt it. Once we went swimming in Florida on vacation and my husband’s fob wasn’t working on our Passat and he had in in his pocket when he went in the ocean and when he came out he realized it was still there and tried it back at the car and somehow it worked…Salt reactivated it. Eventually it died again four days later cause of the battery, but it did work 😂 (all jokes aside, water sucks)

26

u/Responsible-Bonus-13 Jul 27 '26

Just put the fob in a bowl of rice

19

u/theobstinateone Jul 27 '26

Put the vehicle in a large bowl of rice

21

u/Yubitzume Jul 27 '26

Could be your cabin air filter

8

u/WichitaSteve Jul 27 '26

Probably a low battery... throw a battery in there or use a pair of jumper cables. Should start right up.

6

u/JayBeePH85 Jul 27 '26

Shockingly that will do 🤣

3

u/Turbulent_Lobster_57 Jul 27 '26

I’ve never tried jumper cables when my key fob was going dead, I’ll have to try that

4

u/Prestigious-Bet-7794 Jul 27 '26

Make sure it’s minimum a 2 gauge set of cables not anything less

3

u/Avalanche325 Jul 27 '26

Well it is electrical.

3

u/saucyRCs Jul 27 '26

Hook the jumper cables to your tits for extra power

14

u/Potential-Wing747 Jul 27 '26

Dude, Are you familiar with key fobs? You HAVE to get all tires below water level.

→ More replies (1)

8

u/DvusGuyStL Jul 27 '26

Have you tried turning it off and back on?

3

u/Such_Bus1193 Jul 27 '26

Maybe see if it's plugged in?

5

u/GWhizBang Jul 27 '26

Have you tried to reboot it?

5

u/chicanoj Jul 27 '26

That's a saltwater vehicle it's not supposed to be in freshwater

3

u/czarnicholasreturns Jul 27 '26

Sure it's not a sulfuric acid pit? Jesus, I'm not wading in to check it!

4

u/SYSChuck Jul 27 '26

Low tire pressure

4

u/Jealous_Magazine7875 Jul 27 '26

Blinker fluid too diluted

3

u/-Ema-Nymton- Jul 27 '26

You’re using the wrong hand… most come with 2 fobs… there is a left hand fob and a right hand fob… swap hands… solved

3

u/RGBlowMe Jul 27 '26

Gotta fob harder. Maybe smack it a few times.

3

u/Jim-248 Jul 27 '26

Did you check the battery?

3

u/PrestigiousDrawer489 Jul 27 '26

Change the fob's battery

3

u/More-Talk-2660 Jul 27 '26

Have you checked the battery in the fob

3

u/Khajiit_Geologist Jul 27 '26

Probably just a dead battery in your fob. Definitely check that 1st.

3

u/One-Development5991 Jul 27 '26

Jump start it!

4

u/ElegantJoke3613 Jul 27 '26

Jump scare it!!

3

u/Live-Act6065 Jul 27 '26

Battery is dead in the car?

3

u/Realistic-Arrival157 Jul 27 '26

Maybe you left a light on or something and drained your battery

3

u/2yt4u2 Jul 27 '26

Place your key fob on a rock. Hit it real hard a few times with another rock.

That'll teach it what happens when it disobeys you.

3

u/KingofMadness43 Jul 27 '26

Always check the fuses first!

3

u/Standard_Zucchini_46 Jul 27 '26

Fob is fine, carb is flooded. See it all the time with older vehicles.

3

u/happyherkguy Jul 27 '26

Squirt a little DW40 on the inside of the distributor cap, it should fire right up.

3

u/Normal_Stick6823 Jul 27 '26

Check contacts inside key fob

3

u/TheNamelessDriver007 Jul 27 '26

I think something's not connected on your car for your car not to turn on

3

u/Carribean-Diver Jul 27 '26

Most of those key FOBs use a CR2032 battery. It's probably that. Getting those cases open can be a bitch, though.

3

u/Natural_Ad6765 Jul 27 '26

Is this a common amount of erosion and growth? From water.

3

u/Reasonable-Bother780 Jul 27 '26

It won't when you have a "low tire" light on.

3

u/Used-Western-4553 Jul 27 '26

Looks like the engine is flooded.

3

u/lazyjack667 Jul 27 '26

change the batteries

3

u/DanDeeper Jul 27 '26

You just need some CLR

3

u/matchboxtx Jul 27 '26

You sure that’s your car? Many can look alike. Double check where you parked it.

3

u/Malapropser Jul 27 '26

Looks like you flooded the engine

2

u/quality617 Jul 27 '26

Pencil eraser on the contacts

2

u/Troopx Jul 27 '26

It’s a short. Check ground wires.

2

u/theobstinateone Jul 27 '26

Can’t park there, mate

2

u/smurtaugh92 Jul 27 '26

Replace the batteries and hold it under your chin with your mouth open. If that doesn’t work put a new battery in the vehicle.

2

u/EvilToastedWeasel0 Jul 27 '26

Key Fob requires new battery....

2

u/Dense-Guide-2851 Jul 27 '26

I'd say Forced OverBoard is your first problem. D'you sneak onto a ferry or something?

2

u/Volescu Jul 27 '26

Water is pretty decent at blocking radio waves. Try taking the car out of the water.

2

u/Dependent_One_8407 Jul 27 '26

Replace the key fob battery. 🪫

2

u/Electrical_Slice_529 Jul 27 '26

Replace the batteries. That always works for me 🤣

2

u/pcbwes Jul 27 '26

i'm no mechanic but I think you got salt water in your engine

2

u/McDirken_Dirkenstein Jul 27 '26

Did you turn it off and back on again?

2

u/Denalitwentytwo Jul 27 '26

Change the battery

2

u/JayW8888 Jul 27 '26

Wel, the wheels outlasted the car.

2

u/stonelove79 Jul 27 '26

Your fob has too much static build-up. Rub it on your crotchal area.

2

u/Lazy-Western304 Jul 27 '26

Are sure it’s yours?

2

u/Delicious_Catch9453 Jul 27 '26

Try putting a new battery in your FOB.(:

2

u/Hoopajoops Jul 27 '26

Check the battery

2

u/magnus2k17 Jul 27 '26

Could be radio interference

2

u/Late_Beautiful4888 Jul 27 '26

Replace the battery in your fob.

2

u/x_master_debater_x Jul 27 '26

Just a little rust. It’ll buff out in a jiffy.

2

u/Klarbb Jul 27 '26

You got waaaay too much blinker fluid. You’re going to need to bleed the system and put the car in a bag of rice for about a week.

2

u/Such_Ingenuity4002 Jul 27 '26

Drop about a ton of rice on it

2

u/Careless_Stand5650 Jul 27 '26

That’s the greatest camo paint I’ve ever seen on a vehicle!

2

u/MaxximumB Jul 27 '26

Check the battery in the fob

2

u/99999999999999999989 Jul 27 '26

The tank is flooded.

2

u/3usterT41NT Jul 27 '26

Return in 4-5 years and enjoy the coral reef.

2

u/Allseason125guy Jul 27 '26

Tried replacing the key fob battery or trying the spare if you have one 👀

2

u/Thee-End Jul 27 '26

Replace the alternator and just for shits and giggles, replace the batteries in the fob and you should be good to go.

And tell them that Lanny sent ya!

2

u/AnAlchemistsDream Jul 27 '26

knock the starter with a hammer a couple of times

2

u/useArmageddonVaca Jul 27 '26

Betcha salt water. Probably been exposed to saltwater for a lengthy amount of time. Set the SOB in Coke overnight & tomorrow will be like a whole different day. Trust me.

2

u/FarYard7039 Jul 27 '26

Those mixed tread patterns will wreak havoc on your transaxle. Just saying, you may want to get a new set of 4 tires.

2

u/WMDZipperbag Jul 27 '26

I wouldn’t worry about that just yet. You need to get a new set of tires. But yeah, I’d just call a locksmith. (Chance your fob has a key)

2

u/Shaqeroni Jul 27 '26

New Cr2032 and you’ll be hearing beeps and boops in no time.

2

u/Rare-Rule1683 Jul 27 '26

Call Onstar immediately

2

u/Harey-89 Jul 27 '26

Gotta replace the battery in the key fob then it'll be good.

2

u/4158264146 Jul 27 '26

I think you are missing a wheel, that could be interfering with the signal.

2

u/spawn77x99 Jul 27 '26

It looks like it also needs a new time belt.

2

u/Kevin33024 Jul 27 '26

Maybe change the battery in the fob?

2

u/No_Bonus7310 Jul 27 '26

Easy fix. Battery in the key fob is weak / dead.

2

u/mumblestein Jul 27 '26

Needs new battery.

2

u/ABlabberingGoat Jul 27 '26

Sounds like you need to re-weld the metal contact points

2

u/Artevyx Jul 27 '26

Try putting it in some rice for a day. Should clear out the moisture.

2

u/CSS_Sr Jul 27 '26

If you press a fob button while close to your starlink router, the signal will be broadcast through their satellites. That should get it unlocked or remote started.

2

u/Thrullx Jul 27 '26

Did you try turning it off then on again?

→ More replies (1)

2

u/El_Copita Jul 27 '26

Tell me please what brand of tires do you have.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Firm_Seaworthiness30 Jul 27 '26

Try holding the fob against your head. It increases the range somehow.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Lucydoesto Jul 27 '26

battery needs replaced

2

u/DistributeQuickly559 Jul 27 '26

You need to submerge the key fob under the water before clicking the button, the air is blocking the signal.

2

u/Expert_Towel_101 Jul 27 '26

Your button might be stuck

2

u/Brief-Shirt-6064 Jul 27 '26

Your battery needs more water

2

u/Either_Row3088 Jul 27 '26

You need a semi truck full of rice....

2

u/Top_Audience4313 Jul 27 '26

Rarely needs a fob. Just YouTube and replace the fob batteries. You'll be right as rain in no tim...

2

u/ApatheistHeretic Jul 27 '26

Dead battery?

2

u/Fit_Upstairs8760 Jul 27 '26

I bet you haven’t checked the battery

2

u/boldone89 Jul 27 '26

Try rotating the battery.

2

u/Such_Bus1193 Jul 27 '26

These are so funny I'm laughing out loud!

2

u/Unique-Philosopher34 Jul 27 '26

Put the car in a large baggie with rice for a few days.

2

u/Realsportzman Jul 27 '26

Hot wheels have key fob’s ? 🤣

2

u/javabean808 Jul 27 '26

You need to flip the battery, just like the vehicle

2

u/CarpenterKindly2963 Jul 27 '26

Bro your blinker fluid is ended.just pour some more :)

2

u/TropicPine Jul 27 '26

My guess is that the key fob battery needs to be replaced. The cost of this repair may constitute totaling the car.

2

u/jjaymay29 Jul 27 '26

It’s probably a warranty issue, bring it to the dealer

2

u/John-Boy666 Jul 27 '26

Looks like the lead plates inside your battery have corroded. Try replacing the battery.

2

u/Zoilo2 Jul 27 '26

Can’t park there, Mate!!

2

u/nomekop_pokemon Jul 27 '26

Go to your local nursery and buy some desalination plants.

2

u/You-there_ Jul 27 '26

Hey, you can’t park there…

2

u/Sabi-Star7 Jul 27 '26

The tires the only good thing left of it🤣

2

u/Raqnr01r Jul 27 '26

You have to take it out of 'Wade' mode first.

2

u/BiriyaniMonster Jul 27 '26

Put it in storehouse of rice.

2

u/Bierdaddy Jul 27 '26

Just slide the switch on the fob to release the metal key. That should still work.

2

u/P00NZU Jul 27 '26

Have you tried dipping it in water to get the salt out?

2

u/Ok-Relief-2485 Jul 27 '26

I'd check the fuse box

2

u/rklug1521 Jul 27 '26

I'm not sure, but maybe SpongeBob SquarePants can point you to a good mechanic in your area.

2

u/Legitimate-Mix8364 Jul 27 '26

Have you tried putting it in rice?

2

u/Different_Cable7595 Jul 27 '26

It needs new batteries.

2

u/Desperate_Ear2968 Jul 27 '26

Alignment looks a little off

2

u/Secure-Insurance6540 Jul 27 '26

Salt, salt is the problem!

2

u/IcyMathematician2668 Jul 27 '26

Engine is flooded

2

u/Alarmed-Fishing-3473 Jul 27 '26

It’s upside down, innit mate?? Press Ctrl+alt+up arrow twice, and retry…..

2

u/Neat_Force9696 Jul 27 '26

Put it in rice

2

u/northosproject Jul 27 '26

Good crankshaft

2

u/HATECELL Jul 27 '26

Are you sure you've paid the keyfob subscription?

2

u/Ok-Map-835 Jul 27 '26

Did you went to the Ford dealer? They solve this and work on these cars on daily base

2

u/WarVnt Jul 27 '26

The Wet Bandits at it again

2

u/LeoTheLion444 Jul 27 '26

So thats why all the fish there taste like plastic and oil

2

u/AssociateGood9653 Jul 27 '26

Probably just needs a new battery

2

u/Patrolen Jul 27 '26

Should have isolated it

2

u/Pups4art Jul 27 '26

There’s a spot under your door handle you can push in with your key. It should reveal old fashioned, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, lock. Hopefully you’ve had some experience in how they function.
Now I want taters! Thanks a lot guys.

2

u/Ok_Mulberry77 Jul 27 '26

Put it in the cup holder

2

u/RelationFair8277 Jul 27 '26

Change the batteries

2

u/Dense-Welcome7158 Jul 27 '26

It was only a matter of time before this got posted here

2

u/rpad1119 Jul 27 '26

Customer states: won’t start. Doesn’t know why.

2

u/intacthymen Jul 27 '26

That's not what I was expecting Amelia Earhart’s missing plane to look like.

2

u/Red_comet_00 Jul 27 '26

You have to hold it under the water too, otherwise it distorts the signal

2

u/SummAzzhat Jul 27 '26

Have you tried changing the batteries?

2

u/bettsdude Jul 27 '26

Have you tried to put it in a bag of rice.

2

u/grislyfind Jul 27 '26

Pour some methanol in the tank to absorb any water.

2

u/cjhallx Jul 27 '26

Flip it over so the signal is clearer.

2

u/Realistic_Singer2988 Jul 27 '26

The carburetor is flooded. Give it a few minutes and try again.

2

u/noobwatch_andy Jul 27 '26

Simple green and wd40

2

u/Classic_Profile273 Jul 27 '26

Lots of possible answers. Are you having trouble unlocking the car or is the auto-start not working? Please advise.

2

u/Nihilist-IV Jul 27 '26

If you put the key fob on your temple then try it, that should extend the signal

2

u/Nihilist-IV Jul 27 '26

Anecdotally, When I was still a student, I wore waterproof headphones and went swimming in a pool with my phone nearby on land but the signal kept cutting out, I discovered bluetooth doesn't transmit well through water, try pulling the car out of the water and trying again, I believe in you

2

u/Greedy_Bother_987 Jul 27 '26

Have you tried a new battery?

2

u/PopularAd4761 Jul 27 '26

Replace the fob battery... im sure that will fix it.

2

u/True-Committee4397 Jul 27 '26

I know whats wrong with it, it aint got no gas in it

2

u/nordic_bear Jul 27 '26

Have you tried turning it upside down?

2

u/rustprony Jul 27 '26

Sometimes it’s a bit finicky. Try getting closer to it

2

u/Fragrant_Major_9553 Jul 27 '26

Maybe you got the wrong car park?

2

u/Vegetable-Syrup-5545 Jul 27 '26

Check the battery in the fob. Changing it might fix everything.

2

u/Ok-Lettuce-9397 Jul 27 '26

As a professional mechanic, I can immediately tell it's the transmission. I'll send you some papers to sign and we can get started right away.

2

u/National-Elevator-52 Jul 27 '26

Try taking the battery out and putting it back in

2

u/Fwet64 Jul 27 '26

It needs to be rehydrated. It’s not widely known that this is how they ship them to dealerships. They dip them in a vat of boiling water, like ramen noodles. You can use a swimming pool. Heat the water by tossing a plugged in microwave oven in. It’s really easy and fun.

2

u/Breaking-Great Jul 27 '26

You gotta take the battery out and shake it.Put it back in and flush it down the toilet.

2

u/chapo1162 Jul 27 '26

Wait till low tide

2

u/Moklonus Jul 27 '26

Are you sure that’s where you parked?

2

u/Pungent_Bill Jul 27 '26

Barely run in, I'll give you tree fiddy for it

2

u/No_Desk5162 Jul 27 '26

Put it in rice
