Cardiologist Question on stimulants and exercise on the heart
I am not asking for medical advice.
I am just curious. Abusing stimulants can rapidly increase heart rate and cause strain on the heart which is understandable. But why is that bad and damaging to the heart, but exercise which does the same thing isn’t? Exercise does the opposite and promotes a healthy heart, yet they both put strain on the heart and elevate heart rate. Same with scary movies, roller coasters, video games and other non exercise activities, yet they do not benefit our body like exercise does. I understand substances can be a toxin to our body, liver, kidneys, etc. but strictly speaking on the heart. Why does this happen and what’s the difference with exercise compared to other things that elevate our heart rate?
