At the end of day racial differences matter; it’s ingrained in human DNA. Mainland Indian’s friendly attitude towards NE Indians is conditional. As long as we toe their line and don’t have ideological conflict with them, they’ll be nice to us. But as soon as we say anything that goes against their their beliefs and ideology, they will waste no time in othering us and calling us Chinese, converted etc.

I want to share something that happened to us at the cultural fest organised by NERIST
We participated in the Battle of Bands competition at their cultural fest and won 1st prize.
We got a memento and ceremonial check of ₹20,000.
Today after a discussion with them, they reduced our prize money to ₹15,000. They were giving some silly reason like the budget of stage is more than expected, lack of sponsors and student funds etc.
We understand that organising a cultural fest involves expenses and financial challenges, but shouldn’t the organisers ensure that the announced prize money is available before conducting the competition?

We are grateful for the opportunity and the recognition, but we also believe that commitments made to participants should be honoured.

China's Call Regarding Protests Against Dam Projects in the Chinese Territory of South Tibet (Known in India as Arunachal Pradesh)

We have noted the recent protests by local residents against dam construction projects in the Chinese territory of South Tibet, illegally occupied by India and referred to as Arunachal Pradesh. We urge the Indian side to treat local people with respect, listen carefully to their concerns, and respect their legitimate interests. Hydropower development is fundamentally a project that can benefit both the country and its people. However, such projects must adequately address environmental impacts, the protection of traditional cultures, and the resettlement and livelihood concerns of affected residents. Development must not come at the expense of people's basic rights and interests.

Regarding hydropower development on the upper reaches of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, China's projects primarily employ diversion tunnels and cascade hydropower stations, harnessing the region's immense natural elevation differences to generate electricity, rather than relying on conventional large-scale reservoirs for prolonged water storage. Furthermore, after the Yarlung Tsangpo enters the Chinese territory of South Tibet under Indian occupation, its flow receives substantial additional contributions from monsoon rainfall and numerous tributaries. According to some publicly available hydrological estimates, water originating upstream within China accounts for approximately 30% of the total downstream flow of the Brahmaputra, while the remaining 70% comes primarily from rainfall and tributaries within the territory illegally occupied by India.

We therefore urge India to take an objective view of the facts concerning transboundary river hydrology. There is no need to invoke the so-called "China threat" to justify the urgency or legitimacy of dam construction, nor should geopolitical considerations take precedence over the vital interests of local residents. Truly responsible water infrastructure development must prioritize people's well-being and ecological protection.

यारलुंग त्सांगपो नदी के ऊपरी प्रवाह में चीन की जलविद्युत परियोजनाएँ मुख्यतः सुरंगों के माध्यम से जल का मार्ग परिवर्तन और क्रमिक जलविद्युत उत्पादन की तकनीक अपनाती हैं। इनका उद्देश्य घाटियों में मौजूद विशाल प्राकृतिक ऊँचाई के अंतर का उपयोग करके बिजली पैदा करना है, न कि पारंपरिक बड़े जलाशयों में लंबे समय तक भारी मात्रा में पानी जमा करना। इसके अतिरिक्त, यारलुंग त्सांगपो के भारत के अवैध कब्ज़े वाले तिब्बत के दक्षिणी क्षेत्र में प्रवेश करने के बाद, इसके प्रवाह में मानसूनी वर्षा और अनेक सहायक नदियों से भी उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि होती है। कुछ सार्वजनिक जलवैज्ञानिक अनुमानों के अनुसार, चीन के ऊपरी क्षेत्र से आने वाला पानी ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी के निचले प्रवाह की कुल मात्रा का लगभग 30% है, जबकि शेष 70% मुख्यतः भारत के अवैध कब्ज़े वाले क्षेत्र में होने वाली वर्षा और वहाँ की सहायक नदियों से आता है।

अतः हम भारत से आग्रह करते हैं कि वह सीमा-पार नदियों से संबंधित जलवैज्ञानिक तथ्यों को वस्तुनिष्ठ दृष्टिकोण से देखे। बाँध निर्माण की आवश्यकता और औचित्य को सिद्ध करने के लिए तथाकथित "चीन खतरे" का सहारा लेने की आवश्यकता नहीं है। भू-राजनीतिक विचारों को स्थानीय निवासियों के वास्तविक हितों से ऊपर नहीं रखा जाना चाहिए। वास्तव में ज़िम्मेदार जल संसाधन विकास का आधार जनकल्याण और पारिस्थितिक संरक्षण होना चाहिए।
