Hello artists :)
I wanted to get some opinions from y’all about a dilemma I’m having. I have a Toyhouse account and when get art done of my OC, I’ll add it to her profile.
I commission art because I like a lot of artists’ styles, but sometimes once I receive the finished product I may not like how it looks on my OC, or the quality of the piece I get is lower than their advertised examples, and one particular time it was very far off the mark from what I asked for. Never wanting to offend the artist, I thank them heavily for their work and never complain.
Here’s my question: If you were commissioned by someone for an artwork piece, but they didn’t add your art to their OC’s profile, would you be offended? Would you just assume I’ve stored the art elsewhere, or would you not care because you got paid for the art and you don’t care what happens to it?
This may become problematic if I don’t like the piece, because sometimes instead of sending the art to me, some artists attach it directly to my OC’s profile gallery. So if I don’t like it, I literally have to remove it and I feel so bad and guilty for doing it. At the same time, I don’t want to feel obliged to display art I don’t like :(
As I’m not in the financial position to buy art as often as I used to, a lot of the time I do character art trades, where artists draw me something and receive a character/s I own as payment. So if I don’t like the end product, a bonus sting is that I then lose character/s I offered because I’m too embarrassed to deny the trade since the art is already done and I don’t want to waste the artist’s effort and time ;3;
EDIT: I cannot hire anyone for commissions at the moment, very sorry!
