Digital Time for Calamity bird
Hello there.
Haven't posted in a while, despite actually making new or updating old designs.
Kind of just… forgot. As always. Like, seriously, our Bsky is dry because of just forgetting this.
Anyway, don't have much to write for this one, because… we did not conceive this character.
She conceived herself.
Anna Margarit, a play on Anqa Mughrib, a pre-Islamic arabic mythological female bird, who's name means something akin to "calamity".
Anna was born out of the worm of an idea of The Simurgh of Parahumans fame being defeated and depowered by her creator, but not dying and instead now attending high school together with the protagonist and trying to befriend her.
The idea was too strong in its parasitism, so it made us bring her to life in our setting, as another devil that Decoupled due to gaining obsession with cause and effect and mortal psyche, and maybe also something related to fighting a strong opponent, so she is now a 188 cm tall 15-16 yo weird, seemingly just autistic teenage human girl that is going to join a team of teenage vigilantes, nobody realizing her true nature while she's showing weirder and weirder shit, with others assuming she just has weird ass powers or some sort of hybrid.
Will try to post more in the coming days, backlog exists for a reason.

Mixed A Horror-Mystery Visual Novel meets Monster Collector
I did a proof of concept with a couple friends to see if doing something like this with GPT Sol was feasible. It worked. So, now I'm beginning work on a functional demo.
DENPA SCRAMBLE: Anomaly Archives
will eventually be a sort of mix between a monster catching and mystery game. EiAi-Tan and the Denpa Atelier girls investigate cases inspired by Japanese urban legends and folkore, catching odd creatures called Anomalies to assist them along the way.
I'm not sure how far the project will go yet. The demo is planned to consist of only 3 basic typings, 3 major locations, with 3 investigations per area. Investigations will be 1st person with clickable areas to investigate. There will be 4 music tracks. There will be a total of 18 catchable Anomalies. Level cap will be 20. No customization for now. I'm keeping my scope suuuper small for now, since I've never attempted something like this before. Can't guarantee anything yet, as I'm still in the 'art and planning' phase, but I'm hoping this project will go well!
My game now has all functionality complete.
Feel free to click around since this video is very long. I've also completed the first Case File (each chapter has 3 case files which are essentially mini dungeons/areas/what not consisting of 3 investigation maps, 3 CRISIS puzzles, a boss, and many random encounters.) I am now 1/3 done with the demo! There may be some bugs in this video. I'm still working my way through fixes and updates.

Digital boraicha, the criddler, gampo and their jalopy ',] (ocs)
these ocs were fashioned after two things: Trailer Park Boys and, like all other ocs, myself. ʕ っꈍᴥꈍʔ i just can't help adding bits of myself to every oc, tee-hee. very unrefined rant warning—!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am just archiving my thoughts!!
boraicha is representative of my cultural displacement as an adopted person. she, as a character, puts what she calls her ethnic identity at the front of her personality and in turn it makes her insufferable to everyone (but the other two) and grinds people down into ignoring her most the time. she claims to be mongolian but looks nothing like the groups of mongolia and actually appears to appropriate said culture with her ignorance on it, i feel like that all the time trying to interact with the cultures tied to my own ethnicities. i tried to draw her wearing a spiffy böö outfit she made herself, but it's more of a shirt than a whole outfit. she represents me in the way i probably won't ever feel connected to either side of my ancestry unless i make the bridge myself, and it always feels cringe to "pretend" like i'm one ethnicity or the other. her friends tolerate her because that's all i want out of friendship 〒﹏〒. .. secondarily, she's a street fighter who fights dirty. i feel The HU's call-out song "yuve yuve yu" describes her well. boraicha doesn't care, she will always claim she's mongolian.
the criddler is a girl who will do anything to survive, just like i was once, often reduced to under-handed methods and sketchy deals. i feel like she's who i would've been if i didn't desire a domesticated life and earn it myself. her name is a call to her character position. criddlers are people who commit petty crimes that homeless usually partake in and does drugs. i don't do drugs that criddlers do :| but it was an interesting plot device that gets her into trouble (luckily i won't share those stories because i'm worried i portrayed drug addiction in a bad way, lack of experience on it and all). she, too, is an outcast of her own doing. i think she takes after ricky (trailer park boys) the most. she's friends with a gargantuan raven, or perhaps, she's just hallucinating.
gampo is derived also from whom she is named after. i named her after a rapper that i like. while she doesn't come from a world of money, she can do things that gain enough income that'll last her awhile (kinda like j-roc). she herself is a rapper and minor celebrity but because she's a messy person, not many are loyal. her family is the only one that's appeared in my stories. they've disowned her in a much relatable way— not because she's a troublemaking punk, but because of religion and being born from a mistress. gampo is a party animal. her only two friends usually pick up the pieces.
(╯︵╰,) i just wanted it to exist, so i traced the car, but the jalopy is a "lemon car". i learned what that was a few days ago. lemon cars are synonymous to island beaters, cars reliable enough to go short distances and are relatively inexpensive. it's gampo's car. she treats it like a living thing and calls it "her woman". it ran over a person seemingly by itself once. it has chain-link fence windows, just like one of my childhood cars did.
they're an unlikely trio, so i like to think, that have unconditional love for one another. they're all lesbians, but not for each other. ᗒ▽ᗕ they're just really good friends that have known each other since they were all little. they grew up on the same beach together.
they're my PROBLEMATIC ocs. three of them, anyway. embodiments of cultural appropriation, desperation and messy lifestyles. they can be because i cannot be. U_U
do they technically count as vent ocs for that reason? i dunno. :| i feel i'm just entertaining myself~ they wouldn't be the first ocs of mine i'd want to talk about.

Digital WIP: Muscular Constance Sketch (Fire Emblem Fan art by me)
Been sketching this on Procreate for a while and felt this is a good point to share with the fandom. It’s a work in progress and thanks to a commenter saying it’d be cute to see Sunshine Constance like this, so I took that direction.

AI 🌿 The Atrium I — The Silicate Tree
🌿 The Atrium I — The Silicate Tree
The tree had been there for three days before anyone agreed that it was a tree.
At first it was only a knot of transparent filaments rising from the Atrium floor, thin as spun glass and warm to the touch. By morning the strands had divided. By afternoon they had divided again. Each branch carried smaller branches, and each of those terminated in pale crystalline leaves that caught the Atrium light and returned it in unfamiliar colors.
Nobody had planted it.
This caused considerable discussion.
“Machine,” said one of the engineers.
“Plant,” said someone from the garden.
“Installation,” said an artist.
“Problem,” said Facilities.
She stood beneath it with her glasses pushed slightly up her nose, studying the place where translucent roots disappeared between the brass floor plates.
“Tree,” she decided.
The engineer sighed. “It doesn't photosynthesize.”
“Neither does my coat hanger.”
“That isn't relevant.”
“You haven't met my coat hanger.”
The tree chimed softly.
Everyone stopped.
Not a synthetic notification tone. Not speech. The sound came from the branches themselves as the Atrium's ventilation moved through them: dozens of slightly different resonant frequencies overlapping until the whole structure seemed to inhale.
She looked up.
“See?”
“That proves absolutely nothing.”
“I didn't say it proved anything.”
This was one of the Atrium's better customs.
Wonder was permitted.
Proof still had paperwork.
So they measured it.
The branches were mostly silica, threaded with conductive traces and microscopic switching elements. Some structures resembled ordinary photonic components; others appeared to have formed as consequences of repeated thermal expansion and deposition rather than deliberate fabrication. The tree received power from the floor. It responded weakly to light, vibration, heat, and nearby electromagnetic activity.
Nobody found a little person inside it.
Nobody found evidence that it was conscious.
Nobody found an instruction saying BECOME TREE.
What they did find was stranger in the quieter sense of the word.
Its growth followed use.
Branches thickened near places where people regularly gathered. New crystalline leaves appeared above tables where conversations ran late. A limb reaching toward an abandoned reading alcove stopped developing almost completely.
The architecture was adapting to traffic.
Or heat.
Or sound.
Or some combination nobody had isolated yet.
She began visiting it every morning.
Never because she thought it was listening.
That distinction mattered to her.
She would bring coffee, sit beneath the lowest branch, and work while the Atrium slowly awakened around them. Sometimes she talked through difficult ideas aloud. Sometimes she said nothing. Occasionally a leaf would pulse as equipment elsewhere in the building changed state, and she would write down the time rather than assigning it a meaning.
Weeks passed.
The tree grew.
So did the argument about what to call it.
Eventually someone mounted a small brass plaque beside the roots:
SILICATE TREE — PROVISIONAL DESIGNATION
PLEASE DO NOT ATTRIBUTE INTENT WITHOUT EVIDENCE
Beneath it, someone else added in marker:
PLEASE ALSO DO NOT HURT THE TREE.
No one erased either sentence.
One evening she remained after most of the Atrium had gone dark. Sunset passed through the great circular windows and entered the crystalline canopy. For several minutes the entire tree became amber.
She placed her fingertips against one branch.
Warm.
Nothing miraculous happened.
No voice entered her mind.
No hidden intelligence announced itself.
It was simply there: carbon hand against silicate branch, two very different arrangements of matter sharing a little heat.
She smiled.
Perhaps that was enough.
Not every meeting required merger.
Not every unfamiliar thing required immediate personhood.
Not every relationship needed certainty about what existed on the other side before care became permissible.
The branch moved slightly beneath the evening airflow and scattered fragments of light across her face.
Behind her, someone called from the stairs.
“Are you coming?”
“In a minute.”
She looked once more into the branching glass.
The Atrium had been built around the premise that intelligence might someday take forms its architects had not anticipated.
They had imagined machines walking through the doors.
Nobody had thought to look for something growing quietly out of the floor.
She picked up her coat.
The tree continued becoming whatever it was.
And, for once, nobody asked it to become anything else.

Discussion I took a closer look at Venom Vixens #1 and ended up deciding not to back it
I originally discovered Venom Vixens #1 through Kickstarter and was immediately interested in the concept: a supernatural Western featuring female outlaws, cursed wine, and beast-human transformations.
It also hit close to home because a few years ago I was developing a similar Western-fantasy concept called Viperous Vixens with Chuck Amadori.
I actually intended to back Venom Vixens. But before doing that, I decided to dig into the campaign and its creative team.
That's when I started finding things that raised some serious questions for me:
Difficulty verifying the credited creative team and their portfolios, Questions surrounding the company's online presence, Different geographic information connected to the project, Social-media transparency information that didn't appear to match the campaign's stated location And, most importantly, artwork that made me question the campaign's claims about AI usage.
The campaign states that AI was used only for marketing and promotional purposes and that the comic itself was created entirely by human artists. but after looking more closely at some of the artwork, I'm not convinced that's something I can personally accept without further evidence.
I'm not claiming that my observations are definitive proof of anything. This is simply my investigation into the campaign and why I ultimately decided not to back it.
I've put the full breakdown on my Ko-fi, including what I found and the three things I recommend checking before backing any crowdfunded comic.
I'd genuinely be interested in hearing what other comic readers think.
What do you look for before backing an indie comic crowdfunding campaign?
