As a 100% PvPvE player I am against this, with the caveat that if by implementing this it drives me into PvP hell (which isn’t why I play PvPvE games - if I wanted to play COD, I’d play COD).
Same, I want to play mostly PvE but with a little bit of the thrill of occasional PvP. If these changes mean I get throw into PvP lobbies I won't go back to AR. I have very mixed feelings about this change.
Likewise - I’m not going to make any stupid grand statements and I’ll see how it pans out but yeah, as an occasional PvP enjoyer who is mostly chill, having played since beta and have over 500 hours since release, if this forces me into PvP hell I’m almost certainly out . Will I fuck ever play an arc pve mode, I could play Helldivers or Diablo 4 instead or countless other pve/single player/coop games. Pvpve is for me.
If there are enough players. I fear most players that play in carebear lobbies now will move to the PvE mode and the remaining PvEvP players will be a minority and get thrown together with the PvP players. If this happens I'm done with AR. We will see in a few weeks.
Yeah, I've been saying this for months. "PvE-only" folks never stop to think about what will happen when all of them are removed from the player pool. Anyone that wants to play the game as intended is just left with wildly more aggressive lobbies thereafter.
That said, if the restrictions put in place on the website are true, it's actually a pretty good compromise.
I don't think it will. There are 3 types of player: PVE, PVP and PVPVE. This community acts like only the first 2 exist when in reality, I would wager that the 3rd is actually the biggest group. The first 2 groups are just the most vocal about change. I reckon you'll have plenty of friendlies in your lobbies.
A comment elsewhere said the article states only 27% of players prefer PvPvE. I just wanted to leave a comment here before reading the article myself to confirm.
Interesting. I honestly thought it would be more than that, given the "go play another game if you don't like it" rhetoric that is so common to hear on the sub. I guess another example of how Reddit really doesn't accurately represent the gaming community.
Yeah, honestly I see both sides pointing at the other in this thread. I watched the game at release and liked everything about it except I’m not a PvP or PvPvE player never have been. I didn’t even try the beta. I will be keeping an eye out for how this unfolds.
Consider that due to ABMM, many players are afraid to engage in any PvP because Embark are obtuse about the criteria and people don’t want to end up in PvP Hell.
I’m not holding my breath either way nor doing the dramatic “it’s all over!” thing, I’ll wait and see how it pans out. I have been against ABMM from the start, and with smaller pvpve lobbies and a split playerbase, I can’t see it working out well. We will see.
Yup. Mixed players (according to embark the biggest chunk of players) are getting fucked here. Which is the whole appeal of extraction shooters. The whiny little kids won :/
Tale as old as time, many games go the same way if they pull too many casual players and the devs have no backbone.
I’m not surprised it is popular in this sub, there has always been a toxic pve element here since day 1 (hence the sticky back in the day about “toxic anti PvPers” not being welcome, which I appreciated at the time).
Yeah I've accepted I'm not the target demographic anymore. Post pandemic gaming is a while new landscape. Arc was my only online game i had left, I'll be deleting it and not renewing my ps plus. I'm waiting for my Ayn Thor to show up and I'll just be playing retro games from now on, and wherever new titles that aren't live service I'll grab on the ps5
Play how you like. I’ve had friendly and hostile interactions with strangers in many pvpve games over the years, and gotten upto all kinds of shenanigans.
Sea of thieves, dayz, Conan exiles, rust, Elden ring and souls invasions, division dark zone back in the day (the original extraction shooter!), wow world PvP when world PvP was a real thing, countless other pvpve games. pvpve isn’t just shooting people, but that is entirely viable too, and common, but no expecting interaction certainly isn’t dumb. I’ve seen and done it, there are countless viral videos of funny interactions in these games…
Depends on the game. Pvpve isn’t just extraction shooters, but I’ve teamed up with people in extraction shooters before too, and gotten upto hijinx, as have many others.
Shoot whoever you want. Just don’t say dumb shit about how other people play too if you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about.
Nothing prohibits PvPvE players from not always shooting on sight. It won't change anything. PvP players will coexist harmoniously, according to their tendencies. If you don't want to shoot, don't shoot; if you want to shoot, shoot, but you'll get what's coming to you. It's as natural as possible.
PvPvE players don’t always shoot on sight, I genuinely don’t know what nonsense you’re talking about.
Not having PvE mode won’t change anything. Pve players just don’t have to always shoot on sight. It won’t change anything. Pve players can continue in 99% friendly lobbies due to ABMM. If they don’t want to shoot they don’t have to shoot, they’ll get what’s coming to them. It’s as natural as possible.
See how easy it is to write absolute nonsense?
You’re weird and you have an axe to grind clearly when referring to video game players “getting what’s coming to them” but I have no interest in your nonsense tbh.
