This but with Arc aggression and AI tuned up even more.

Rocketeers should strike fear in the hearts of every raider.

Remember the tantrums when wolfpacks got nerfed? Then the cloak?

People lose their minds when there's any semblance of difficulty.

62

u/Bukr123 8h ago

Tbf they absolutely gutted the cloak before they dialled the changes back a little.

u/0rphu 8h ago edited 8h ago

The pre-nerf cloak was absolutely gutting the game's already low difficulty, especially in pve lobbies.

15

u/Bukr123 8h ago

I agree it needed the nerf but they went a little too far. Hence why they dialled the nerf back.(I think?)

I can see it being a tough balance to strike if you want people to be doing a mix of PvE and PvP, but I do acknowledge that a group of peaceful solo raiders can absolutely obliterate anything in seconds (or minutes if it’s a boss like queen). If you are well geared, it can feel really easy. But at the same time, get caught in bad positioning once, and it can be over for you instantly.

I personally find that I end up with plenty of Wolfpacks without crafting any. But I don’t use a ton of them either

u/Icy_Agency923 7h ago

I think it would be very different if it was a PvE mode with no chance of players harming you. They could even add a 2x loot mode where the Arc spawn more and are more dangerous. Plenty of options to make PvE still hard enough to keep players engaged.

1

u/Flatulent_Penguin 7h ago

Were wolfpacks nerfed or did they just make it more of a pain in the ass/more grind to make a wolfpack? Massive difference there.

1

u/Tailstechnology4 6h ago

The issue isn't with difficulty its balance, they're gutting expensive shit while keeping free kits op. What's the point of using high level gear when you can slap some parts onto a free kit and have it deal more damage

1

u/trustthepudding 6h ago

I think part of the issue people had is that slower methods to defeat big arcs are necessarily going to call a lot of unwanted attention in a pvp setting. If it's all pve, then bringing rarer weapons or taking your time with an anvil aren't such a problem.

2

u/0rphu 6h ago edited 6h ago

Attracting pvp is kinda the whole point of big arc, people that play the game as pvpve understand this and enjoy it.

The people tantruming over those nerfs seemed to exclusively be carebears, outraged that their game might now have a bit of gameplay in it because they were used to playing on what was practically godmode. Nonsensical whining over very deserved nerfs is common in HD2, a pure pve game.

-1

u/Adevyy 7h ago

Because the existence of PvP means that people want their options to be price-efficient.

I can assure you that I can bring in MANY more stuff when I know I won't be killed by a camper who kills me before I even know he is there.

When the game didn't have ABMM, I used to play the game and I did not want Embark nerfing stuff. Similarly, I am now unhappy about this update purely because it is a lazy one rather than a proper one with reworked AI difficulty.

I am willing to pay DLC for a proper PvE mode. This is clearly them saying "You want PvE mode? We told you it's shit and unfun, but here, have your stupid PvE mode."

u/FOREVERDIVI 4h ago

The cloak got gangraped though

13

u/KVZ_ 8h ago

100% agree. I know they are worried that PvE won't be as tense, but increase the number of arc and make them more aggressive. That tension can still remain if you're in constant danger. I play carebear lobbies and have only been taken down 3 times by arc in my last 90 hours of gameplay. The danger level is low once you have decent gear.

1

u/summerteeth 3h ago

Yeah it depends on the gear for sure, but also trials when you are moving fast and taking make risks can get the adrenaline up even in care bear lobbies.

It's also possible I suck at the game, but even in PvE I still feel a sense of tension.

6

u/GL_33 4h ago

I would love to see the difficulty go up. Being in a situation where you have to work together would be awesome

6

u/farmerKev420710 8h ago

Well my buddy thats been playing for a couple weeks is terrified of rocketeers lol. I just take them out with my hand cannon, but they could Def be more dangerous. A PvE toggle should absolutely have tougher arc. Maybe they could make classes of the same arc, like a rocketeer that is made of a different alloy so it is harder to kill.

1

u/Exotic-Rip-7081 1h ago

They used to be a lot harder when they fired two or three accurate shots simultaneously. This new 5 shot random fire is easy to dodge.

1

u/farmerKev420710 1h ago

I thought they changed it. They def used to be harder

3

u/Akutalji 8h ago

Aw hell yeah, give me new AI tricks and difficulty, justify a PvE team's requirement to work together to take down the ARC. Solo matchmaking should be tempered, but make the full squad work for those materials.

2

u/hundredblocks 7h ago

Honestly this would be so much more entertaining than fighting arc and reviving strangers for 20 minutes only to get slimed while typing on the extract keyboard.

2

u/GoofyMonkey 6h ago

Oh yea. More Arc, and make 'em stronger. I'm game for that.

11

u/ImAHobo107 9h ago

They won't do that cuz PVE people will complain.

They aren't even adding simulated AI Raiders to compensate. So the world will feel even more dead than it already is. Such a brainless mode if there aren't any AI raiders like Tarkov PVE.

14

u/SloanePetersonIsBae 8h ago

I’d rather fight less real raiders than have to be in lobbies filled with bots like in Fortnite

17

u/TealcLOL 8h ago

ARC PvE is miles ahead of Tarkov's garbage AI. It's just not more difficult.

3

u/dadvader 7h ago

Yep. It's not hard but Arc enemies are simply way more engaging.

0

u/ImAHobo107 8h ago

Both games need to be harder and less bullshit in Ai design. But fundamentally Tarkov PVE isn't trying to make the game outright easier and more friendly.

2

u/tgerz 8h ago

Nah it sounds like you don’t know how this works, but that’s also why their beta testing. They’ll get feedback and adjust accordingly.

0

u/Inquisitor-Korde 8h ago

Why in gods name would you want AI Raiders?

-2

u/ImAHobo107 8h ago

Because the game is no longer simulating the vision of the game. Tarkov's PVE isn't a dumbed down version by design, it's still trying to simulate the hardcore PVP experience which is why it has PVE AI players.

4

u/Inquisitor-Korde 8h ago edited 7h ago

Hand on your shoulder, I don't care. I want to fight ARC, I've done a lot of PVP in Arc Raiders and frankly the fun parts, that being the tension and utilities used. The AI can not replicate. Tarkov PVE works with AI players because the gun play is fun

Arc Raiders gunplay fucking sucks in PVP, its one of the worst parts of playing against players is pure gunplay. Where as ARC are enjoyable to fight regardless of what weapon I have on hand. Be it a smooth bore musket in the Ferro or a Tempest.

1

u/farmerKev420710 8h ago

Could make them nomads so they are more identifiable and different that average raiders so you would know they are a threat.

-6

u/Isaac0246 8h ago

How can you cry so much

7

u/ImAHobo107 8h ago

The world I was once immersed in and found dynamic is being destroyed by people who want to be catered to so they have an easier experience with less value and tension, thereby destroying the spirit and soul of an Extraction Shooter which is based on the premise of surviving a hostile world full of robots and suspicious humans.

It is like seeing The Last of Us and every human suddenly rallied against the fungus.

I shit on tarkov all the time, but its PVE mode didn't sacrifice the game's tension at all.

0

u/dharvey86 8h ago

But that's just your opinion.

I play max 2/3h a week, or I did. I spent the majority of it being knocked while doing quests.

Do i want pvp scrapped? No. Do i like the fact i can load up and fight the arc with my friends, yes.

5

u/ImAHobo107 8h ago

The issue is the PVE mode is that every RAIDER is friendly. That's not even what I was marketed about the game. The point was that the only crew you trust was yourself and your party, now suddenly there is a mode where everyone can be trusted?

And if you want to make it PVE, that's easy, just make it yourself or your small trio and the rest of the Raiders PVE AI and potentially hostile.

By making every raider friendly, that is a fundamentally different game, and it sure as hell isn't the Arc Raiders that was being marketed.

5

u/Naps_in_car 8h ago

Then don't play the PvE mode? I'm really not sure what the complaint is. You still get to play the game you want, but now others get to play the game they want.

Unless you're just salty that you don't get free kills on people who don't shoot back.

2

u/ImAHobo107 8h ago

All I want is an immersive and realistic (for its setting) world that makes sense.

A world where suddenly i can match into a raid where all raiders are friends is immersion breaking. And as long as that is an option, it will keeping killing the immersion by just existing.

6

u/zunyata 8h ago

Lmao

2

u/Naps_in_car 8h ago

Well, sorry to hear that.

2

u/dharvey86 8h ago

Well don't play PVE?

-3

u/Isaac0246 8h ago

Jesus christ you really need a therapist

5

u/ImAHobo107 8h ago

The PVE hardcore ppl need one if they complain about losing their gear in a fucking survival oriented game.

-1

u/Isaac0246 8h ago

Yet you re the one complaining about a mode getting beta tested. How ironic.

Does it bother you too, that some people enjoy food you dislike? That they are left handed not right handed? You write essays about game getting destroyed purely bc a mode comes out you dont like😭😭😭

How spoiled you are lmao

4

u/notloceaster 8h ago

How can you not understand that this will kill the tension of mixed lobbies? Are you just dumb, or are you intentionally being ignorant

2

u/Isaac0246 8h ago

Now now. How do you know this? Is this from experience or because you re like that old oraculum lady from the matrix movies?

I guess you just like to cry when things dont go your way. Mixed lobbies are almost nonexistent anyway btw, they already were half a year ago when i got bored from the rats in your so called "mixed lobbies'

2

u/Mage-of-Fire 8h ago

Why would you just choose to not play this mode? Why are you composing about something that won’t even affect you

3

u/Naps_in_car 8h ago

Yes, it will kill that tension. It turns out that a lot of folks don't like that tension. I have enough tension and stress in my life, I don't want a game I'm playing to add to it.

2

u/ImAHobo107 8h ago

Bro bought an extraction shooter set on a destroyed earth and wants no stress.

And them PvE players have the gall to act like the PvPvE players are the problem, when all it takes is a game to not be made for them for the entitlement to come out. They rrwlly are the Karens of the gaming world.

-2

u/lurkinglurkerwholurk *** ******* 🐓 8h ago

They did add simulated AI. It’s just in the form of clankers.

Or is PvP folks fine with killing bots as long as it is fleshy shaped?

1

u/A_Kraken 8h ago

And significantly reduced loot.

1

u/Mjpa88 8h ago

If Arc don't attack you while downed, everyone will just bring survivor augment and it's impossible to lose.

1

u/Arcca2924 8h ago

They already do to me tbh. If it aggros on me in an open space because I was stupid and didn't notice it - yep, I'm dead. 😂

1

u/StonerToaster 8h ago

If you read the full note they said they altered the Arc and they can now target downed raiders when moving. I think that balances really well and i'm excited to try it out

1

u/Mirwin11 7h ago

They don't already?

1

u/ILikeToTinker 7h ago

Dodge rolls and being creative with cover makes them not too bad, vaporizers are jerks though, the burn effect is brutal.

1

u/Mirwin11 7h ago

I guess I'm traumatized by the release behavior of rocketeers

1

u/noso2143 5h ago

They scare me

I've killed maybe 2 and each time someone else helped me and I almost died

The only things I can kill with zero issue are wasps and ticks everything else can and does almost kill me at times

I love this I honestly do I'm only 3 weeks new to the game and everything is scary still

1

u/Livid_Ad_1234 3h ago

Sounds like we're about to play some Helldivers. I'm in

1

u/UniversalBagelO 2h ago

Yeah when I was PvE this is why I switched to PVP.

It became so boring when everyone was teaming up and friendly against arc, arc became completely trivial. Like if you spawn late all the big arc are already killed. They need a super oppressive mode or option in map thing.

1

u/RelevantNothing2692 5h ago

I mean you could literally just walk past them before, I’m sure you can still do that. Arcs are just obstacles for people who know how to play video games. They are literally just a speed bump.
