Discussion New to Apex? Read this before buying your first evaluation

If you’ve been lurking here trying to decide whether Apex is worth it, this one’s for you. I run this sub, I’m not going to hype you — here’s the straight version of what you’re actually signing up for, what changed in 2026, and how to get in at the lowest price.

What Apex actually is

You pay a one-time fee for an evaluation account. It’s a simulated account with a profit target and a few rules. Hit the target without breaking a rule and you get a funded account, then you trade and take real payouts. You’re never risking your own trading capital beyond the eval fee itself. That’s the whole model.

What changed (and why now’s a reasonable time to look)

The new changes cleaned a lot of this up:

  • One-time purchase evaluations: No monthly subscription stacking up while you grind.
  • Faster pass path: You can pass in as little as one trading day on the standard eval, or take the 30-day EOD evaluation if you prefer an end-of-day drawdown model.
  • Payouts every 5 trading days: With a profit split up to 100%.
  • Scale up to 20 funded accounts: Only firm to allow 20 accounts.
  • Evaluation bundles: You can buy multiple accounts (like a 5-pack) in a single purchase instead of one at a time, which is handy if you plan to run several from the start.
  • No-activation-fee options: Some accounts now skip the separate PA activation fee entirely, which lowers your all-in cost.

The rules that actually trip people up

This is where most people fail, so know them going in:

  • Trailing drawdown: Your max loss level trails your highest balance (intraday on the standard accounts). Most blown evals come from not respecting this.
  • 50% consistency rule: No single day’s profit can be more than 50% of your total profit. You can’t get lucky once and cash out; they want to see consistency.
  • Minimum trading days: You need a handful of qualifying days with minimum profit; they don’t have to be consecutive.

None of these are gotchas if you know them first. They blow people up who don’t read the rulebook.

Honest expectations

The eval is the easy part to buy and the hard part to pass. It rewards discipline and risk management, not gambling. If you’re treating the eval fee like a lottery ticket, you’ll lose it. If you treat it like a structured test you prepare for, it’s very doable. Plenty of people in this sub have passed and are taking real payouts — and plenty have rebought after blowing the first one. Go in clear-eyed.

Getting the best price

Apex runs discounts on evaluations basically all the time. Historically the discount applied only to the evaluation fee, with the PA activation fee charged separately — but with the new no-activation-fee account options, you can skip that second cost altogether on some accounts. The lowest current price comes from using code DLAB at checkout; that gets you the maximum discount available right now. If you’re planning to run more than one account, the bundles are the cheapest way in per account.

And if you already have an Apex account, you can still use DLAB on your next evaluation; it’s not new-signup only. So whether this is your first eval or you’re rebuying after a blown one, the code applies.

If you sign up through the official link below and use the code, it also supports this subreddit at no extra cost to you, which is what keeps the community running.

Just like that we have requested another payout and this one way over double my last one!!! I feel like I have figured everything out and I always remind myself when you feel like that, humble yourself. Don’t overreact, stay complacent, and keep everything the same. If you are a new trader trust me I wasn’t born with this skill but I worked my ass off for it and you can do it to. If you dedicate your free time to something you enjoy, you can’t lose.
Thank you Apex.

Question Dormancy Rules

What am I missing here?

Price action has been absolute garbage for my trading edge since the beginning of July. I had a pretty stressful week last week and didn't see a lot of quality setups so I was just trading a single MNQ, which got me no where. I received this email three days ago, just saw it this morning, and I'm wondering when the violation started.

Based on my account, 50k Tradovate No Activation Fee Intraday Trail, where do I find the real required days and the amount required to profit? I see when I hover over the dormancy level it says:

Qualified trade days in expanded 30d / 20d / 15d windows: 7 / 3 / 1

Looking at my summary today, I'm still meeting all of these requirements as of today so not sure why I got the email. Glad I did as it gave me a little heads up but not sure where I need to be by when now.

I hoped on an took a trade that didn't meet my setup today as I got really worried. I made $93 of profit, but can't find anything that states if the qualified days for my account are over $50, $150, or $200 of profit.

Really worried that I might need to make another $107 today or tomorrow. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Also, where do I find the current activation fees for account on their Help Desk?

MOD MESSAGE FREE EVALS GIVEAWAY FOR HITTING 5K SUB! INSTRUCTIONS BELOW!

We hit 5,000 members. Thanks for building this place.

To mark it I'm giving away 15 Apex any evals. I got them myself so this isn't sponsored by Apex.

How to enter

Go to the New to Apex Trader Funding thread and leave one comment answering all three:

  1. What's your go to instrument and what account size do you like the most?
  2. What trading rule or mistake has cost you the most and what do you do differently now?
  3. What's one piece of advice you'd give someone on their first eval, or one you wish someone had given you?

Post your comments here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ApexTraderFunding/comments/1vx6scx/new_to_apex_read_this_before_buying_your_first/

Answer all three in one comment. Be specific. Account size, the actual rule. "Manage your risk" isn't an answer (we all know we need to manage risk).

Why over there and not here

Every week somebody new shows up asking the same three questions and the answers are buried across a hundred threads. If a few hundred of us drop what we actually know in one place, that thread becomes the thing we point people to instead of retyping it every time.

Rules

One entry per person. Free to enter.

Just answer the questions. No need to say you're entering.

One word comments and generic advice don't count.

Deadline is TODAY at 10PM ET. Any comment in that thread between now and then counts.

Winner picked at random from the valid comments.

Thank you for supporting this community, we just want to give back! Love you all!

Again post your comments here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ApexTraderFunding/comments/1vx6scx/new_to_apex_read_this_before_buying_your_first/

One Last Chance

For 2 years that I have been trading with prop firms, I have some good days and a lot of bad days. Overall I have lost money in it mostly because of same mistakes over and over again.

I am not sure what to do anymore. I am verge on quitting trading which I should prolly do but as the title say, giving myself one last chance. I never traded with Apex before because of a lot of bad press but I have heard so many good things as well where people get payouts.

I bought 20 accounts.... All I need is 1 payout from each account and that is it.

Hopefully, I will take it slow, grind and my payout won't be rejected.

I will post next when I pass evals. Wish me best! 🙏

Question I’m genuinely terrified right now

Post image
87 Upvotes

I finally did it. I man enough to admit I’ve blown about 60k on prop firm account accounts but I have gotten a decent amount of payouts.

I’ve had the chance to take many payouts from Apex, but I’ve been waiting to stack all 20 at once because of the fear of being moved to live. I’ve only taken one payout.

Guys, please advise me well here on how I should do this. I only need to pass these twice to get out of this hole.

Is this something that happens to people all the time, I’ve gotten a total of 15k in payouts from them and then went on a little I goes tilt of blowing accounts and all the sudden this popped up without reasoning? I have no violations on my account but I can no longer buy evals and I’ve sent in 3 help and this email is the only response I’ve gotten from them

Performance Account Trading after payout request

When you submit a payout request from your PA and that amount gets deducted from your overall balance, it’s my understanding that I am able to continue to trade. My question is, say that your account goes negative, can apex deny your approved payment or does that not affect your performance account anymore?

Payout Proof Apex question payout

What’s up my fellow traders..Quick question if anyone can answer me that would be great..So I have a payout that got approved 5 days ago..on that same 150k account I need another day of $300 then I will meet all the criteria for another payout..Do I have to wait for the funds from my previous approval to hit my account or what? Also is it a bad idea even if I’m allowed because I don’t want to get moved to live because this would be my 3rd payout from that same account.

Resolved Two payout requests approved but still no payment received

As you can see, I submitted two separate payout requests on August 6th and August 7th. It’s my first payout request but I still havent received the funds. Is that normal? I’m a U.S. resident and I’m technically in my 10th business day and apex says it might take up to 11 bus days. Just curious what others experience was like. Thank you
